《I thought I was right》Chapter 8

On the floating bed, there were bottles, in many different sizes and colors. She lay Berry down and handed me a little hand held device.
“This will help you see her bones, like an x-ray. You will still have to use some illusion though.”
I scanned Berry's leg and saw that she had fractured her ankle.
“Ummm” Stephanie looked over and cursed under her breath.
She took out a roll of gauze and tape started wrapping Berry's ankle. Berry whimpered and Stephanie handed her a bottle of red liquid.
“Take this,” she ordered.
“It will help you with the pain.”
Berry drank the whole bottle and became unconscious.
“What are you doing!?” I whisper-shouted.
“I said, it will help her with the pain, I did not say to keep her awake.” Stephanie replied calmly.
“You drugged her!”
“All in good time, my dears.”
What was that supposed to mean?
Stephanie finished wrapping Berrys ankle and we raced off with a medical bed dragged behind us. Stephanie looked at her watch and cursed. She took something out of her pocket and threw it on the ground. It shattered into a million pieces.
“Jump.” She ordered.
With that, she jumped and disappeared into the pieces of glass. I looked at Zoe and we both jumped, dragging Berry’s medical bed behind us.
The feeling was terrible. I felt as if I was being suffocated by pieces of glass. My throat got tighter and tighter, until I was right about to burst and die, the feeling evaporated.
I fell on the floor and got up, there were pieces of glass all over me. I was about to use my hand and flick them off when Stephanie waved her hands and all the glass flew off me. They gathered around her and disappeared. In her hand she was again holding a glass ball, similar to the one she had used.
“What was that?” Zoe spit on the ground,
“I felt like I was going to die.”
Stephanie smiled faintly. “You will get used to it,”
What kind of answer was that?

“Come on! I teleported us to the closest portal opening, but we still need to hurry.” Stephanie picked up Berry and she screamed.
“Oh honey, I’m so sorry. I forgot about your ankle.”
“No!” Berry sobbed. Just from her face I could tell how much she was pained.
Berry got up and ran. She was much faster than I had thought, considering she had a fractured ankle. Within seconds, she shrank and disappeared into the wilderness.
“Nononononono, this can’t be happening.” Stephanie grabbed her head in despair. She looked around and took a deep breath, then snatched up a bottle that said ‘take the pain’ she opened that cap and was about to chug it when I stopped her.
“You can’t just drink it yourself, you won’t be able to fight, let me drink it!”
“No, you can’t, the pain will be too much. She must have fallen on black sand.” Despite her warning, I tugged the bottle free of her grasp and chugged it all in one gulp. A tingling sensation started forming from my head, spreading down my spine and reaching all the way to my toes. The feeling eventually faded and a burning hot pain started in my ankle. It grew and grew, until I was using all of my willpower to not pass out. I fell, over, and grabbed my ankle. It didn’t help, my ankle bent at an impossible angle, and I screamed, tears streaming down my face.
“No no no no. You were supposed to only drink the amount of the bottle cap. Now you will have Berry’s pain, for basically ever. But she will have your pain. You must be very careful. You can’t just touch your ankle. It will actually be broken. Also, you won’t be able to use any pain meds while this is in use. Here.”
She handed me a towel to bite on.
“Me and Zoe are going to look for Berry, now. Just stay here and remain calm.”
They ran away and I tried to not scream. I bit on my towel and ripped it. My pain overwhelmed me and I passed out.

I woke up to the sound of sirens. I sat up and tried to walk on my now broken ankle. I realized that it was broken, and that someone had bandaged my ankle. At first I thought that Stephanie had done it but she was nowhere to be seen. The siren sound grew louder and louder until a police car pulled up, a woman police officer pulled up and got out of her car. She snapped her fingers and my wrists got blinded together by ice.
“What? I didn’t do anything.” I protested but she just smiled.
“As if.” She spoke in a light Greek accent.
“Get in the car.” She opened the back door and shoved me in.
When I got in, she slammed the door. The ice melted off my hands and disappeared.
“Why am I here? Who are you? What did I do?” I bombarded her with questions. I saw that she took out a piece of paper and started scribbling on it furiously. While she wrote, she told me that her name was Crystal. She started talking about so many different things that I didn’t even know if she was trying to arrest or what.
She finally finished writing and handed it to me. It read
‘Bugs, code-f=&4, ordered, you did theft from the queen's palace.’ Just as I finished reading, she shouted,
“Look!” A group of people wearing all black with masks on their heads were running with a gun.
“Stop!” Crystal shouted. The people turned and one of them shot at Crystal. I gasped and shut my eyes, expecting Crystal to die. When I opened them again, a bullet was encased in a perfectly round ball of ice. Crystal rolled down her window and snapped. The masked men froze and were encased in ice. Crystal got out, opened the back of the car, and flew the people into the trunk. As soon as she slammed the door, the ice melted, and the men fell over each other gasping for air. They pulled off their masks and I was shocked to see the faces of Stephanie and Zoe. But what shocked me even more was that using the back of the car, was Zenit. They all looked much more tired and strong than the last time I had seen them.
“Wa? How?” I was about to ask them but I realized that there were still bugs. I handed the slip of paper to Zoe and Crystal started talking again.
“So my name is Crystal, and I finally caught all of you dirty rascals who dare steal from the queen.” Her tone was harsh but I could see her eyes twinkling in the mirror.
After a long time, we reached the palace. It was all pink, so many different shades that my eyes were disorganized. I got out of the car and took a step, only to fall over, clutching my ankle. Zenit frowned and looked questioning at me. I just shook my head and slowly got up. I hopped on my other foot until the guards at the front gate stopped me.
“YOU WILL WALK YOUR BEST!” They shouted in unison. I hesitated, I knew that I would pass out from pain if I walked normally but if I didn’t, I would probably be zapped to dust. Just as I was making up my mind, a pair of crutches appeared in my hands. They were ice cold. I looked down and realized that they were made of ice. I used them and my ankle felt way better, but my armpits protested.
We walked and walked, until we came upon another set of doors. They guards patted us down, and I tried my hardest not to scream when he touched my ankle. They finally opened the door and let us in. The room was not very big but it was well made. I could see spells and protection on every part of the room. I was shocked to see that there was only one person in the room. But I was further shocked when I realized that the ‘queen’ Crystal had been talking about, the one sitting on the throne, was Berry.
