《Captured》Chapter 6 - Atlas Escapes

I was laying in the middle of my room laying on my stomach with my large moth wings out. I sighed and grumbled as I nuzzled into the padded floor. I yawn and then stand up, I wobble a bit and finally stand up, then straighten my antennae. “Today is the day...” I thought to myself. I shiver a bit out of nervousness and take a deep breath. I then knock on the glass and look embarrassed “Can I go to the bathroom, please?” I look at the door as it hisses open, Hanna was standing outside of it and walked with me.
“Once you're done, we are going, ok? All hell is going to break loose, so just try to be careful of your wings.” She whispers in my ear. My face goes a bright red and I nod extremely fast. I then walk into the bathroom and splash my face with cold water. I check over my wings and make sure I will be able to move them correctly. Then I sigh as I knock on the door of the bathroom to signal Hanna to open the door after approximately three seconds. I then hold out my arms and quickly transform into an Atlas Moth.
My clothes plop onto the ground and she sweeps them under a stall when she opens the door. I attach myself to her bun and try to hold still, looking like a hair ornament. The sirens in the facility start blaring and she jumps a bit “They know you transformed.” She sighed as she rubbed her temples as we got surrounded by guards. “I wanted this to be peaceful, you know?” She grumbles as she jerks her long white coat off, she had on a black, skin-tight body suit. I couldn’t land and transform; I was stuck in moth form since I would be naked if I became human.

She reached up for her hair and I quickly fluttered off it. She pulled out two long Japanese styled hair pins, and then stabbed them into the guards’ neck, I watched as her eyes started glowing and the guards that were trying to come from behind got blasted away by some sort of reddish-orange light. She held out one pin and I landed on it “Ready to get out of here?” She smiles and I nod, flying up and distracting the guards as she stabbed them in the chest or the neck, sometimes even through the helmets they were wearing.
I nearly got squashed a few of times, a couple from guards and another because of Hanna throwing her needle and me just barely moving out the way. I landed on her back, and she made a break for the entrance. I was about to be filled with joy, being outside for the first time in twenty years, until about twenty or so guards blocked the entrance. My heart fell into my stomach, and I felt like I was going to throw up when I felt a tranquilizer dart fly through my wing and stick into Hanna’s back.
I couldn’t fly anywhere, if I became a human, I would be naked. Hanna is trying to hide her pain, but I could tell she was close to her breaking point. The door is right there, if only I had a better ability than to turn into the largest moth in the world. Suddenly I felt a strong gust of wind fly past us and, before I knew it, all the guards were on the floor, their hearts ripped out and splatted on the ground next to them. I look around and see Bishop and Natalia working together and clearing a path for us to escape.

Hanna took a strong stance, her palms started glowing, and she glanced back at me. In a slightly woozy voice, she smiled “Hold on tight, this is going to be fun.” I groan in my head and whimper as I latch myself to her back. I feel us catapult forward, and then look at her hands. There were giant explosions coming from her hands, launching us forward. “I got this idea from an anime I watch!!” She yells as she launches us forward. I look back and see Bishop and Natalia starting to get overwhelmed by guards.
Then the door closes behind us.

Void Breaker
Note: Sadly, this story is currently on hiatus :( Elizabeth Sayler had lost everything in the bombing of Reaver Stadium. Her career, her fame, her power — all of it vanished the moment she lost use of her legs. Now, she's beginning to lose hope of ever healing herself… until her world integrates into the Void. When the apocalypse comes in a flurry of System messages, everyone on earth is given a choice: give up what they value most in themselves, and acquire a path to their heart’s greatest desire. Most would hesitate, but for Liz? She has nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain. Armed with newfound powers in a world teeming with monsters, she’s determined to not only survive, but to somehow break the Void’s endless assault. * * * This is a small note about the portrayal of disability in this story. As much research as I do and as many people as I ask, I will in the end only be able to understand a small portion of paraplegia and similar disabilities. Therefore, if there is anything particularly disrespectful, please do not hesitate to contact me. I always intended to portray disability in a respectful way in this story, but please know that Liz as a character does not start out with a healthy view of disability. This is intentional, and a large part of her character development comes from this view changing as she learns. Disability is not something she simply "discards" at the beginning of the story, but an ongoing theme and a part of her journey.
