《Since When did a Magical World Need Superpowers》Seventh Entry

Hanging from up top of the tree branch, as I waited for the rest of my body to regain function, many thoughts shifted through my mind.
One of the key thoughts here was, picking up some
paralysis temper. By itself it could be used to relive
paralysis of another person, but when combined with
mana forest, it could be made into a paralyze charm.
The process involved crushing both leaves together, then binding them by rolling
them against a pendant made
of wind crystal.
The wind crystal soaks up the herbs essence, and vibrates once it has filled completely with the herbs.
Wind crystals are magic crystals, they can create
tiny burst of fresh air.
Being supercharged by the
mana forest, the wind crystal surrounds
the wearer with something similar to
an air barrier, it then disperses
the paralysis temper into that
barrier.
This means that by wearing that charm, you did not need someone else to give you paralysis temper.
Another key thought going through my head, was what to do with my tail, and how to bring it out on command.
I knew it would be wise to train how to fight with my tail as well. The optimal choice would be to find some prime monkeys.
Prime monkeys used their powerful tails to crush their
prey. Its true that they only crush their prey with their
tails, so after watching them for a little while, I would
have to find another creature that uses their tail to fight.
Three hours passed, I could now move again. Two hours
ago I regained the use of my hands and fingers, an hour
after that, I could move my arms, shoulders and toes.
I could now finally move my feet, legs, and wings.
I flew back to just outside my village. I did not want
anyone to know I could fly just yet. On the way back I
had collected some carnivorous parrot teeth. I would be
trading them at the market tomorrow for some paralysis
temper.
I awoke the next morning flew to another village that sold paralysis temper, got what I needed, stopped at the fire
troll canyon, picking up some mana forest.
Before returning to the village I went and hunted some
baby mimics, being careful not to get to close to any until I was sure it was dead.
I used my claws to tear out their hearts. I needed
something to cover the cost of the wind crystal pendent.
I was going to have a custom one made, that is why I
collected more than what you would normally
need for one.
I went into the mine finding a wind crystal that was the
perfect size. Now all I needed was the string. I found
some rose owls.
Rose owls use their vines like wings to fly. They have rose buds blooming from the top of their head. Their young are breed by shooting the seeds from their eyes into decaying corpses. Sometimes they will shoot seeds at
enemies, which can then spread toxin to the victims, if you do not remove them quickly.
Not only do they use their vines to fly, but they often use
them as whips. While fighting this thing, a sudden
realization occurs to me. I could use my tail in the same
manner as its vines.
My tail seems to be almost as flexible as those vines. As
one of the vines comes towards me, I block it with my tail.“So I was right!” shouting with joy in my voice.
I continue to repel the vines with my tail, each time the
vines are coming from a different direction, so my tail is
becoming more and more flexible, each time I block each
strike. You have to keep in mind that it has two vines, so I block the other with my hands.
When it notices that neither vine is working, seeds start to shoot from its eyes. “Shoot, not good!” I scream out. I use my wings to fly out of the way. I am safe but a small
animal gets hit by the seeds. It would be trouble if it calls for its mother. I approach it, breath a small flame to deal with the seeds, it then runs of somewhere.
It is at that point I realize I can now control the size of my fire breath. When more seeds come to me and latch onto my body, I breath a small fire onto the area, which helps
allows the seeds to then fall off.
Okay so I have now had enough of this, I fly forward,
breath fire into they eyes of the rose owl. It can no longer shoot seeds at me, or could it see. I use my claws to cut
through the vines, detaching them from the rose owl.
I burn it to ashes, so it will no longer suffer.
I head to the blacksmith, give him the payment and
materials. It takes about an hour for him to finish.
I decided to fight some more rose owls while I waited. I
now have a firm grasp on how to move my tail agilely.
Once ready I head back to our village and have our
herbalist make me a paralysis charm. Her granddaughter is there watching her as she works. She is so young and very timid. I estimate that she is about five or six years old.
Her eyes sparkle with enthusiasm, and excitement
watching her grandmother work on my paralysis charm.
When she is done I thank her and head to the prime
monkey forest. I watch as they crush their prey with their
tails. They slam their tails down with full force against
their bodies. I also notice that they do not just use their
tails to crush their prey. Sometimes they will use their tails to create a small shock wave to make the prey loose their footing, and fall to the ground.
I am flying over head so this does not affect me at all. I
find a small area with many small creatures to practice
these techniques on. I can now mange to make ostrich
deer fall to the ground, as well as crush their bodies with
the force of my tail.
I remember how I held onto the tree branch, I decide to
try something. I warp my tail around the neck of one of
the ostrich deer, apply pressure, and crush its neck. Since I am killing them anyways, I decide to make a nice ostrich deer stew.
Once I am finished eating, I pack the left overs in a magic container, for later consumption. I continue each form of
training for the next several weeks. I have developed many techniques using a combination of each skill.
I am now able to use my fire breath while flying to go in
reverse. Using my tail to hold my enemies, I strike them
repeatedly with my claws. This is just a few of the things I learned how to do.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
