《Questline: Our Second Chance In Another World》Chapter 21: Spare Me

Just like when they faced the Goblin Chief something changed with the water nymph once half of her health was gone. She began to attack them on land while riding on what looked like a snake made from the lake water. Thankfully, her stats didn't increase, but this made it a lot more difficult for them to hit her since she was mobile.
The water nymph began by going for Cass who had begun running towards Ava. Cass was able to outrun the water nymph, but then something unexpected happened. The water nymph took her right hand while keeping the left placed on the stream of water she was currently riding on, and swung her right arm like she was cutting the air.
A blade of water shot out towards Cass hitting her in the back leaving her with 42 HP again.
Cass stopped in her tracks and turned around. She pulled out both of her daggers in an attempt to attack the water nymph with them. She managed to dodge a couple more of the water blades, but when she was in range she wasn't able to successfully hit the water nymph. In fact, she was just run over and knocked down by the stream of water leaving her with 19 HP left.
Ava was just close enough to use a Nature's Gift spell on Cass to bring her up to 24 HP, but the water nymph went for another strike with the water blade causing the two of them to separate in order to dodge it.
When they turned around to face the water nymph again the stream of water that looked like a snake began to envelop the water nymph and form into a ball. The water nymph floated inside of it with her hands clasped together almost like she was praying, and they both saw her HP go up from 29 to 39.

Cass and Ava both tried to take the opportunity to attack her, but both Cass's arrow and Ava's vine whip just bounced of the hall of water.
Immediately following their attacks, the ball of water reformed into a snake and it began attacking Cass.
Cass knew she'd only be able to take one more hit before she was down to her last hit point, so she did the only thing she could think of doing and ran.
She booked it towards the tree line and once she got past the first line of trees the water nymph ceased pursuing her. However, it then began heading towards Ava.
Cass tried turning around and shooting an arrow at the water nymph, and managed to score another hit leaving it with 23/80 HP remaining.
Immediately after being hit the water nymph went back into the same prayer like pose she had done before, and the water she was controlling turned into a sphere again healing her for another 10 points.
Ava took this opportunity to get close, and tried using her new spell spark jolt on the sphere. Unfortunately, her attack didn't work, and the water nymph returned to attacking.
Ava was now in close quarters combat with the water nymph and she was having trouble dodging its attacks. Her agility was just slightly higher than the water nymphs so she was fast enough to avoid. However, if Ava tried making a break for it the water nymph would likely get her, and once she got knocked down it would just be the same situation over again.
Cass on the other hand was trying to zero in on the water nymph with her bow, but with Ava being so close she couldn't get a clear shot. Ava was left with no choice, but to finish off the water nymph here and now.

In a desperate attempt to get an attack in Ava side stepped one of the water nymph attacks, but it managed to just barely scratch her leaving Ava with 19 HP remaining. However, Ava desperately managed to grab the water nymph arm and using her spark jolt on her. Unlike Cass's arrows Ava's spark jolt dealt massive damage bringing the water nymph from 33 HP down to 3.
While grabbing the water nymph Ava also managed to pull her down to the ground where she fell right on top of her.
Cass began running towards Ava now that she had an opening, but once she got to her she was surprised by what she heard.
"Please spare me"
Cass at first thought that it was Ava speaking, but it didn't sound like her. Additionally, the water nymph wasn't moving. The voice had sounded very dry as if whoever was speaking was dehydrated, and could barely utter those words.
Ava managed to push the water nymph off of her, then they both heard the same voice again.
"Please spare me"
Ava could barely see the water nymphs lips moving, but could tell it was coming from her. Once she had a second to recollect herself Ava noticed a notification in the top left corner of her field of vision. It said something about a quest update.
She told Cass about this who also noticed that she had the same notification. Upon opening up the notification they were sent to the quest tab where they saw a side quest saying "Defeat the Water Nymph", but right below it there was an optional objective "place the water nymph in the lake so she can recover" or "kill the water nymph".
They were both surprised by this new revelation. They had actually received a quest to spare the monster that had attacked them, but neither of them were sure why.
Ava concluded that it might have something to do with the fact that the water nymph was now on land, and might not be able to survive.
Cass on the other hand was still weary, and had her bow drawn and pointed towards the water nymph in case she made any sudden moves.
"What should we do?" Ava asked uncertain how to respond to this new information. They were told they could spare the water nymph, but she was uncertain whether they would have to fight her again or not.
"I don't know, but we won't survive another fight with this thing if she attacks us again" Cass replied. She was probably even more suspicious than Ava was about the whole thing.
The quest also didn't mention there being a different reward for either option. There was just the regular reward of 50 EXP for completing the quest.
After talking and deciding what to do they noticed the water nymph lost another hit point after a while. Her skin also began to wrinkle and crack as if it were drying out, and they occasionally heard her make an awful groaning sounds.
Cass stood there waiting for something to happen, but Ava couldn't take it anymore. She quickly scooped up the water nymph in her arms, and before Cass could say anything Ava jumped into the water with the water nymph.

Delicate as Glass
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!
