《Questline: Our Second Chance In Another World》Chapter 18: Building a Village

Since they had finished exploring the guild hall the group decided to finish building the rest of the town.
After exiting the guild hall they headed south for only about a minute, and decided to lace each of their residence in this area. Due to their plans to expand at some points they made sure there was some distance between each of theirs houses.
Once that was over each of them had to decide what kind of business they wanted to place. Each of them had their own ideas about what to add.
Felix noticed when looking at their equipment that there was a durability rating, so he decided to place a blacksmith outside the guild hall in the area Tenjin and Ava had designated as the business district. Ava thought that making medicine would be useful for them since she couldn't just use all of her MP for healing, so she decided to place an apothecary across from the blacksmith. Tenjin surprising was thinking about their hygiene and decided to place a bathhouse in the business district as well. Ava was more concerned about training, and decided to lace a training course behind the guild house a ways. Finally, Brandon didn't think they really needed any more business so he decided to create an amphitheater next to the town square.
"What's the amphitheater for?" Felix asked confused by Brandon's choice.
"It would make a good place to hold formal meeting when the town gets bigger." Brandon explained. "Also, it would be a good place to hold live performances like plays, concerts, or speeches maybe. I just thought it would have a lot of good uses."
"I guess I see what you were getting at." Felix responded still a little confounded by his decision.
"Actually, it's not a bad idea." Tenjin inferred. "The guild hall isn't really big enough to hold any meetings in, and neither are our houses."

"Also if we wanted to have a meeting that was open to the public we could use this amphitheater." Brandon added.
"Good point." Tenjin agreed. "Way to think ahead boss."
Once everything was set up everyone was eager to see what their houses were like. When they opened their doors they found that the houses were pretty basic. They were about 50 feet on each side and about 10 feet high to the ceiling. They were essentially log cabins with a fire place on the back wall made of stone where they could cook food, a single bed shoved into the back left corner. a small table that could sit four people at the most, a small dresser against the wall in front of the bed, and some shelves on the right wall that held wooden dishes and utensils along with a few other useful objects.
The village they just put together was in no way grand, but it gave them a place to call home, and if the continued to gather materials they would be able to expand all the building eventually.
"Well, that's everything I guess." Brandon concluded. "Now that I think about, it I'm not sure how we are going to run some of these businesses, but I guess if more people come here we'll be able to hire them."
"Yeah, as long as they aren't planning on becoming adventurers like us." Felix stated.
"Good point! Anybody who comes out to a place like this will probably come looking for action, not a place to settle down." Tenjin added.
"We can worry about that later. Right now, our priority should be to gather materials, and other resources so we can sustain and expand our village." Cass asserted.
"You're right. We won't get anywhere worrying about this stuff." Brandon acknowledged. "We'll need to gather more food, water, medicinal herbs, and materials we can use."

"Cass and I already found some good places to hunt." Felix informed everyone. "But as for the rest we haven't come up with much."
"We should split up into teams then and scout out the island." Brandon suggested. "Trinity, are there any good water sources nearby, or any places we can find medicinal herbs."
"There's a lake a couple miles west of here, and medicinal herbs can be found everywhere. I just don't think you guys have been paying close attention to that kind of stuff." Trinity explained.
"What about building materials?" Brandon inquired trying to remember if there was anything they came across they could use.
"If you need wood you can cut down any of the trees around us, but it'll take a lot longer without a wood cutting axe and a lumber mill. There are actually ore veins in the goblin caves, but you'll need pickaxes to mine those, and the only quarry nearby is on the next island over."
"Well, we'll just have to make do." Brandon asserted. "Let's split up into teams and scout out the area so we at least have any idea where the resources are located. Ava, you and Cass should go looking for herbs and scout out that watering hole while the rest of us will go to the caves in search of ore veins. Brandon suggested.
Everyone agreed to go with Brandon's plan, then the group split in two with the intent of locating much needed resources so they could grow their village.
Before they went their separate directions Ava and Cass wanted to express their concerns with the group splitting up.
"Are you sure you three will be fine going into the cave without us?" Ava asked worried that they might run into more danger than they could handle.
"Don't worry we aren't going into the goblin camp, so we should be fine." Brandon assured them. "We can stay in touch using the guild chat, and if we run into trouble that we don't think we can handle we'll run. I promise."
"Okay." Ava replied still a little concerned.
"Hey don't worry. We're stronger then when we first went in there, so even if we run into that Goblin Chief we'll kick his ass." Felix proclaimed.
"Just don't do anything reckless, and avoid that camp if you can." Ava suggested.
Brandon put one hand on each of their shoulder trying to convince them that they'd be fine. "Don't worry guys. We'll be back before nightfall, and before you know it we'll have more resources and materials then we'll know what to do with. Hell, we might even all level up by the time we get back."
Ava and Cass both nodded, and the two groups finally parted ways each heading to their separate destinations which would present them each with a new challenge.

Rejected At First Sight
"Oomph!" The sound rushed out of my mouth as the door opened before I could reach the handle and my body hit a wall. I took a step back and realized that it wasn't in fact a wall, but instead a very attractive male. I looked up at his head to see a very messy, but sexy, mop of black hair on top of his head. When I looked closer, I noticed that his hair was a very deep brown that was probably often mistaken for black. My gaze traveled downward to his eyes, where I found two deep, ocean blue eyes looking back at me. My gaze travelled farther down to his crooked nose, to which I assumed came from too many fights. My eyes finally found his pink, very plump lips, which were turned into a sneer. "You have got to be kidding me!" His pink lips said in a very offensive voice. My eyes turned questioning as I looked back up into his eyes. "Whatever, lets finish this. I, Ashton Carter, reject you, as my mate." He, or Ashton, said with venom lacing his voice. He quickly turned and walked down the now vacant hallway with no glance back. Rejection? On my first day? The first person I make eye contact with at this school, rejects me. I guess that's how this school works, if the hottest boy in school rejects you, you're a nobody. So much for making friends, or mates, or whatever they call people at this school. I shake those ocean blue eyes out of my head and continue into the office to start my new life.
