Chapter 18

-Crysea-

It would seem Sky was already awake and cooking. I hope he won't make another experiment. They always turn out weird and unusual, though, I will say some of them turn out okay, but I'd rather him not experiment.

"Ahahaha! I have made it! An alligator rib omelet with mushrooms and cheese!! I wonder what it tastes like" What's an alligator? "Hurk, this... tastes... Sooo freakin weird!!! What on earth?! I don't even know how to describe this. Well, it's not a failure, so I guess I'll just mark it on the approved... with a note to go along with it." he does this a lot. It's interesting to watch, and sometimes funny. "Oh, Crysea, good morning! Enjoy your walk?" How did he know? I always leave before he wakes, and I've never told about it before. "Ooh, what's that thingy?" He pointed to the machine in my hands.

"I don't know. There was a couple of people after me. One was a human who threw blades, and the other was a gaudy man that sent these machines at me. I'm sorry Sky, I had to kill the first one." I needed to apologize for messing up like that. His expression darkened when I finished telling him.

"Ah, they reacted quicker then I thought, oh right, I forgot about the satellites. Oh, and about the guy you killed." I winced a little when he mentioned the person, I doubt he saw it though. "You killed him because you were driven in a corner right? Since that's the case, don't worry about it. Dyo." so you can forgive me so easily? Why though? I killed someone of your own kind though. Shouldn't you be a bit more... upset? "Go find the body and make sure to leave nothing left. Can't have any evidence. Please and thank you." Dyo made a buzz and left.

"Are you sure it's okay to forgive me so easily for what I've done?" I had to ask.

He laughed. "Listen, Crysea, you could destroy an entire nation and I'd still forgive you... Let me put it in a better perspective. First of all, I've done far worse then simply killing a man. I've destroyed businesses, set families to kill themselves, even took the lives of some of my closest friends. By rights, I am in no position to condemn you. That being my weakest excuse.

The next is that you don't know anything about this world. It's like giving a 4 year old a knife and saying to stab someone. They don't know whether it's right or not, they just follow what they're told because they put trust in the ones giving them the command. By all means though, I have no intentions to use you like that, in fact, I will be more than happy to obey any request you were to give me unconditionally. A little strange, I know, but I can't help what I feel.

The final reason being is simply because I love you, and quite honestly, unless you killed my siblings, nothing you do could make me ever dislike you. That and I told you so many times before, I'll take any heat, and I WILL make this place your new home." his attitude shifted from stern to carefree to, I think they call it embarrassed, then to determined. I don't understand. I was always told, always believed, that a race would always think for them self before another, regardless of the situation. Shouldn't you be more angry? And you love me? How? Why?

"Just how can you say such complicated things so easily!?" oops. I shouted at him. He looked shocked, as he should. I think that was the first time I shouted at him. I shouldn't have done that.

"How? To be honest I don't know. I truly don't know, however, I won't lie to myself. I refuse to. No matter the cost I will remain honest to you and myself under any circumstance. I'd rather you know the truth and hate me then like me for the lies I've told. As for why I've fallen in love with a woman from a different race, well even I don't know that. It's what my heart tells me so I'm just gonna follow it." There's that sound again, that gentle sound. He's.... been so sincere.

"But..." I whispered almost inaudibly.

He sighed, "Here just read my thoughts. You'll be able to understand when you do." As he suggested, I did, and I understand. I understand how far he's willing to go. How much he's willing to lose. You're a fool. You are a complete and utter fool, but I won't doubt you anymore. I won't question you anymore. "Hey umm, I didn't mean to make you cry or anything..." even so, I've finally grasped the situation. There's hope. There's hope for us. We won't have to run anymore.

"Ah, I almost forgot, there's a person outside requesting you." With all that's happened, it slipped my my mind.

"I know. I didn't want to talk to him until after you returned and I finished my breakfast, but thanks for letting me know." So he knew after all. "Also I'll expect a response to my confession just there soon..."

"Not right now." I instantly denied it. I don't think it'll be right, until we can secure our home, to think about that right now.

He seemed sullen when he responded, "An instant response, ouch. Well I intended to finish the sentence with that so the outcome is unchanged. Minus a little sharp pain, but that's survivable." I'm sorry but now is not the time. "Welp, let's go see what Mr. Guy has to say." he said and proceeded to the door.

When he opened it, "Hello, Mr. Sky?" The man aimed to confirmed.

"Aye, what do you want?" he said kind of coldly.

"You have been summoned to the city of Reaenic for an official inquiry. The attendees are to be Rita Bloodheart, Saemik Gremlin, the miss that follows you, and you, Mr. Sky." the man informed Sky.

"Why does my brother have to go?" Sky became less cold and more wrathful upon the mentioning of his brother, and Gremlin? Is that Sky's last name as well? I'll ask when he's done.

"We have reports he was a witness, so he is requested to join for verification." the man answered.

"Fine. When do we need to be there?"

"They've requested your presence one week from tomorrow."

He sighed. "Fine, we'll be there." the man bowed then left. "So soon. I really should keep in mind about the things I can't see. They're information network is as fast as ever."

"What?" Is all I could ask.

"Well each country has their own reconnaissance satellite which can upload information within seconds of receiving it. They generally know about any major event within moments and can counter it within days if not hours."

"Oh. Is that an issue about me then?" I may have done something wrong again.

"Nope, continuing, the fact that it took a couple days says they don't know how to fully comprehend the situation. Now they're asking for our side to explain. It's a bold move, given their positions, but also a smart one. The consequences of not showing up to an inquiry can be quite severe to your reputation, of which we're trying to make positive, so giving us such a tight time limit is meant to make us slip up when we do arrive. Meh, though I've been given the time, I refuse to bend to their wills. I'll arrive when I feel like it. Besides, if I pull my contact I could get us there in a day so we'll be fine. If he falls through we can always just go with you taking us there."

That somehow didn't feel right when he said that, I don't know what it was but I didn't like how he inferred me as a mode of transportation. Also, why use me last if you're going to suggest me? Shouldn't I be your first choice? Why aren't I your first choice? What is this odd anger I'm suddenly feeling...? Where did that come from?

"Oh right, Crysea." he suddenly called me from my thoughts.

"Yes?"

"The robot, please." He pointed to the machine I had dropped.

"Ah, sorry. Here you go." I handed it to him and he accepted with a gleam in his eyes.

"Ahaha! One of Pilum's rumored robotics! I've always wanted to dissect one. These things are pseudo A.I's. They can think for themselves within certain parameters, however, they are not self aware nor can they communicate aside from a nod." He began explaining to me with an excited tone.

"What's so special about them?" I didn't really know its worth.

"Hm? Oh, well, aside from being able to run faster, hit stronger, and well, all around better than a human, nothing. They're accuracy for weaponry should be minimal along with their offset center of balance making melee useless against a person who knows what they're doing. They're anti-personnel, they'd do poorly against an armed nation, so I guess you could call them assassins."

"How do you know this if it's only a rumor?" I don't understand how he can know any of this stuff. It sounds ridiculously difficult.

"Mmm, just a guess from the components and how it was constructed. They were built mainly for taking hits and taking out singular targets. Anyway, would you take me to the bunker then to the building we were in? I have to inform Rita, if he still doesn't know. Ah, but first let me go tell my brother." He said and took off.

Humans are such strange creatures, well, at least this one is.
