Chapter 6: No time for dead goodbyes
T started to remember more about her life. Her sister swam into focus inside T's mind. (It was a warm summer day. They were laughing sitting on a bench in the park. Her sister leaned over and said "Tif what do you think of that guy jogging over there? He's cute in those pants right?" the sounds of dogs barking and children playing on the grass.)
An intense migraine interrupted T's memories. Her name was Tif something. Looking at her sister, Tif knew she had to save her from their fate.
C looked worried as she saw T's face. Normally she would leave this person behind but something was nagging at C. Seeing a tear run down the sisters face, C started to get a headache. She didn't have time for whatever this was.
Tif started to write down her plan to get Sister out of here.
"Do you remember me at all sister? Anya, my nickname you gave me was Anya. We used to be so close, doing fun things together. Come on, give me any sign of recognition Tif." Anya said to her sister.
Not even bothering to look up T slowly wrote down on the piece of paper her plan. it was simple, get anya to stay in her room until she heard the signal. 3 loud knocks, pause, 2 knocks, long pause, 1 loud knock on her window. Then sister would run out after Tiff and c
lead her family and the others outside away from the house.
Such a simple plan couldn't possibly go wrong, right?
Several minutes passed as tif agonizingly wrote down her plan. C's headache intensified. She started to feel like she was being pulled
underwater inside her mind.
As if sensing it was taking too long, loud shuffling noises started coming from the back bedroom in the house. Tif stopped

writing to gesture to C to go check on them. C was not feeling so hot, but she went to the hallway anyways.
"what is this pain? This sense of losing myself." C though as she walked to the door at the end of the hallway.
Mother and sister were clearly agitated behind the door. the sound of movement was head as well as low
moans. Something had gotten their attention.
C got to the door and wonder how to calm down the two. Maybe if she got some meat from the kitchen they might calm down. This seemed as good a plan as any to C. She went back to the living room to go to the kitchen. The sight of an open refrigerator door was not promising.
The smell coming out was rotten and eye watering. Not feeling the odor C glanced at the fridge contents. The sight of rotten fruits and vegetables was not a good sign. As if defying common things like logic the meat drawer had hotdogs and deli meat looking still
edible.
Grabbing the hot dogs, C did not bother closing the fridge door. She shuffled back to the waiting pair. C noticed they seemed to quiet down as she got to the door.
C opened the door and pulled open the hot dogs from their plastic tomb. The sight of the meaty offerings seemed to
wake mother and sister up somewhat. They came towards C with hunger in their eyes.
The pair stated to slobber as they lurched towards the food. It seemed like in their hunger the two couldn't see the difference between C and the more appetizing offer of pork byproducts.
C started putting the hot dogs down on the end table next to the door. A broken alarm clock and some garbage

paperback novel were on the floor next to the table. Now covered in hot dogs the end table seemed to shudder as the starving pair descending on the hot dogs.
Not wanting to watch something so gross C started to leave the room. The sounds of a feeding frenzy reached her as
she closed the door.
Meanwhile, Tif had written down her plan and handed it to anya. Anya seemed to barely be able to read the
crude and blotchy handwriting. To say it was written poorly seemed an understatement.
She nodded her head and said, "Okay sister, I'll wait here for the signal and run into the woods away from the others. Later on though you have to explain to me what is going on with you and everyone else. I'm frighten."
Seeing C coming back hands cover in what looks like pink slime, Tif just shook her head. Another memory started coming back
to tif. (A stray ray of sunlight beamed down upon two girls. They had just gotten out of detention. Tif looked at her new friend and laughed. "we sure fooled MR K. He think we got scared straight after his long lecture about prison. Good thing we aren't those type of girls right Carri?" A familiar face looked back at tif grinning. "Yeah, lets hurry back though. That sickness if spreading and I don't want to catch it.")
How could tif have forgotten her best friend? She turned to Carri and tif cocked her head like in the memory. C suddenly got a migraine.
Her head throbbing C seemed to fade away on a black tide. Fragments of the past swirled around her as
another humanoid like figure dragged C further into the darkness.
Tif started worrying for her friend. Carri seemed to be suffering some sort of seizure. Seeing the other girl react violently, Anya closed her door and locked it.
A loud growling emanated from carri. Her eyes slightly milky before started to fill with black blood. Something was definitely wrong with tif's friend.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.

I'm Sure It'll be Fine! ...right?
We live to die, and die to live again. This Cycle continues, neither to Begin nor End. Ever Beginning, never to End, we come to the story of our Unusual Friend. The Gods are as varied and unique as the mortals that worship them. Some are kind, others are fluffy, and (given the nature of the multiverse) a few are Eldrich Abominations of Unspeakable Horror. But that's fine, those few tend to mind their own business... At least until an Eldrich Abomination (an interdimensional cosmic slime-mold specifically) gets itself devoured by a Lich during a ritual to obtain Godhood... Especially because anyone, even a Lich, who's willing to eat an ENTIRE COSMIC SLIME-MOLD for any reason, even godhood, is undoubtedly a madman...who's now set his unsightly gaze upon replacing (likely by devouring) the Godess of Magic herself! She could probably use some help...if only to avoid touching the slimy Lichgod directly. Also, the Eldrich Gods are protesting these events in their usual manner...by trying to destroy all of Creation.
