Dearest readers, as I’m sure you’ve come to find, I deeply enjoy delving into the unknown, but today, I bring to you a treatise on something known to anyone with a lick of sense, if only to avoid it. Gigantavit Island. On the nose, sure, but it’s fitting nonetheless. To explain the oddity that is Gigantavit Island, I must refer to a previous work, The Founding Forces. A lengthy read, but one well spent.

In The Founding Forces, I discussed the relatively balanced nature of the Elements and how any proper imbalance tends to lead to unusual anomalies. Typically, this would mean, say, a waterfall going up, a fire that coexists with a certain species of trees, and even Elementals, in the most extreme cases. But, Gigantavit Island is where most of these commonly accepted theories and laws on the nature of magic, get effectively tossed out the window.

See, Gigantavit Island is… Well, there’s no good way to properly explain this phenomenon. Practically every known, and even some unknown, Element is in complete anarchy and imbalance with each other! Fire using water as fuel! Flying trees! Even gravity, the most consistent Element known to exist, is somehow less present here. It’s not an imbalance from lack of an opposing Element, but rather an imbalance caused by every Element going haywire.

Naturally, these incredibly extreme environments gave rise to incredibly extreme lifeforms.

While dangerous to the point of absurdity, it also contains flora and fauna of absurd value. This is the primary reason the Explorer’s Guild was founded, and still maintains a strong presence in the South-Western section of the globe. Just to give an example, a claw from even a humble Slumbering Sloth is almost worth its weight in gold. Be it from rarity, hazard, or even abominable business practices, the price is enough to live off of for a whole week in an upscale tavern. Granted, not one anywhere special, as the ones on Gigantavit Island are priced so high, I had to sell off one of my magical artifacts to even hold a room for a month of research.

Now, beyond the absolute madness that is the magical and financial implications of this island, what is its mainstay in the public eye? Why, it’s monsters, of course. With many hundreds, and even thousands, with a non-zero possibility of millions, of massive monsters, Gigantavit Island is home to such wonders as the Flyvern, the Daggertoothed Rat, and even the enigmatic Absolutist Cube. There’s even evidence of proper draconic occupation, but all that has thus been found have been destroyed hoards and ruins. I cannot say if this is the result of the Dragon War, but I can’t say the thought didn’t cross my mind, given how many nests were found in close proximity.

But, moving on from such terrifying possibilities, Gigantavit Island is a land of massive majesty, of titanic terrors, and best of all, positively enormous earnings! While my safety guidelines expert is advising me from making the place sound so positive, I will say that I’d be happy to purchase any unique findings for my research. While Gigantavit Island defies conventional explanation, I am no conventional Wizard! Remember, curiosity is the key to endless satisfaction!
