《Bloodline Awakening》Chapter 14 - Work

What do I do?!
“It’s no use trying to escape, you know.”(Density). She said with a smile still on her face.
“What. Are. You. Doing. To. That. Young. Man.” The old man said with the food I ordered in his hands.
“Ahahaha, master, remember the one that I told you? About the bet. This is that student. Small world isn’t?”(Density)
Agh.
It’s getting harder and harder to breathe.
“Oh! Oops, sorry.”(Density). The force that was crushing me disappeared. But I still don’t have the strength to stand up.
I looked at my health window.
______________
Health: 60 / 170
Stamina: 10 / 170
______________
My health and stamina were damaged this much?!
She’s too strong. No matter if I try to run or hide, she will still catch me.
“I don’t have money. Please, let me go.”(Daniel). I pleaded for my life. I probably pissed my pants from how wet my lower body felt.
“Uhh. Ew.”(Density)
“Look. What. You. Did… I’ll. Take. Him. In. The. Washroom.” The old man said as he bent over and was about to pull me up.
“I can help you master. Ahahaha”(Density)
“No. Need.” The old man said, and he looked at me.
“Kid. Come. Here.”
“Y-yes!”(Daniel). This old man is better than this crazy woman.
I looked at her with my scornful eyes, causing her to look back at me. And when she did, I instinctively looked away.
My breathing became sluggish, and my body was still not stopping from trembling.
“Oh, cute. Don’t worry, I don’t bite. I CRUSH. ahahaha”(Density). She was giggling like a little kid.
‘Do you think this is funny?!’(Daniel)
When we reached the washroom, the old man gave me clothes, which are the restaurant's uniforms.
“Take. Your. Time.”
After he closed the door, I was relieved.
“What did I get myself into? I shouldn’t have come here in the first place.”(Daniel). I looked at my soaked pants with embarrassment.
Even now that I have calmed down significantly, my body has still not stopped trembling.
“I’ll get her for this.”(Daniel). I said after taking a shower and changing into the uniform.
‘Now, where do I leave my clothes? I can’t just carry it around my arms.’(Daniel). I looked around the washroom.
Sigh
Why am I looking for something to put my clothes into in a washroom. Am I dumb or what? So I decided to put my underwear and pants inside the trashcan and left my shirt with me since it’s the only thing that wasn’t tainted.
I opened the door and went towards the old man who was now behind the desk.
“I-I’m done.”(Daniel). The old man nodded.
“Hey! Here! Here! I saved your food for you.”(Density). She called me and waved her hand.
Saved my food for me? The only thing that was left was a couple of spoons of rice.
“I’ll. Get. You. A. New. Ones.”
I was going to stop him but decided not to as I could hear my stomach shouting at me.
“T-that would be great.”(Daniel). After the old man went towards the kitchen area, I walked toward Density, who was sitting beside the chair I was sitting on.

But, important is that I have to know what she wants from me. It’s no use escaping from her anymore that she knows exactly who I am. Hiding will only make things worse.
I sat down right in front of her.
“Wh-what do you want from me?”(Daniel)
“Nothing much, I only asked a simple question earlier, and you started escaping.”(Density)
“Who wouldn’t… So, what is it? My money? Life? Too bad for you I’m poor and a nobody.”(Daniel)
“I know that. But for now, how about you clean up your mess, starting from the chair and your piss. It’s starting to stink in here. The mop is right over there.”(Density)
“Why do I have to… I-it’s isn’t my fault. You should be the one cleaning them up.”(Daniel). Fortunately, the system helped me calm down.
On the surface, I was confident. But my legs were already trembling, and my fingers were clashing with each other from anxiety.
“Well, first of all, you have the uniform on, and secondly it’s because. I. Can. Make. You... I’m strong after all~.”(Density)
The gravity pull on me started to get stronger.
“F-fine.”(Daniel)
I cleaned up the wet floor with the mop, but she made me do the whole floor since she wasn't satisfied with how I only cleaned my mess.
After I was done, the old man came back from the kitchen with my food.
‘Thank god. Finally, I could eat.’(Daniel). Drool began to form inside my mouth.
“Young. Man. You. Didn’t. Have. To.”
“Master, it was him who made the mess in the first place, so it wasn’t a big problem. You can thank me with a cake for helping, though.”(Density)
Stop taking the credit for my work!
“You didn’t even help.”(Daniel). I whispered.
I went to the table where the old man had put the plates of food at. I was so hungry that I already started eating like a ravenous beast after sitting on the chair.
The old man sat on the seat in front of me.
“You. Seem. Depressed. Earlier… Is. Something. Wrong?”
The spoon I was holding stopped halfway from going into my mouth. I was scared, hungry, and angry that I forgot why I had taken the time to go into the city in the first place.
“It’s nothing, sir.”(Daniel)
“Hey! Call the Master, Master!”(Density). She said while picking her teeth with a toothpick.
“Don’t. Listen. To. Her.” He looked at my Academy uniform before looking back at me.
“It. Must. Be. Hard. For. Students. Like. You… Isn’t?” He saw the symbol I have on my uniform.
“Not really, sir. But the money is tight, ahahaha. I don’t even own a phone yet.”(Daniel). I was planning to buy a phone before and after I got into the Academy, but since we receive the least amount of allowance, I don’t have the money yet.
“I. See… As. You. Can. See… We. Are. Short. On. People. Do. You. Want. To. Work. Here?”
Do I want to, though? It seems dangerous. I may have to decline.
“Well…”(Daniel). I feel bad if I decline since the old man offered me help when he figured out I needed money.

Hmmm, but since Density already knew who I am. And now that I already know their hideout, I won’t be safe either.
“That’s a good idea, master! You should take a rest from watching over the café! Hey you! Don’t you think you can decline.”(Density)
What a brute woman.
“I’ll be glad to work here, sir. When do I start?”(Daniel). Although I answered without much enthusiasm, I tried to show that I am at least willing.
This is good enough, right?
“You. Can. Start. Tomorrow… You. Can. Come. Whenever. You. Want…“
“Yes, sir! I’ll come every day.”(Daniel)
What did I REALLY got myself into?
“Ughhh, it’s so hot today, Mr. Janitor, can you give me some ice cream, please!”(Density)
“What? Janitor?”(Daniel)
“Isn’t that obvious?”(Density)
Sigh
Great… I got myself a new nickname… Just great.
“I don’t work here yet, you know.”(Daniel)
“Look at what you’re wearing right now.”(Density)
…
She got me… I’m wearing the café’s uniform.
“They’re. In. The. Kitchen.” The old man who was sitting behind the cash register said.
“Uhh… Yes.”(Daniel). I guess it won’t be tomorrow, but today that I’ll be starting to work here.
The kitchen looked regular and professional. There’s a lot of kinds of stuff that I don’t know the use of, but they’re all neatly placed. The only thing that’s bothering me is that big buffed guy with a long moustache who keeps glaring at me.
Is he the chef? He does have a chef hat sitting sadly on his head.
“Umm, I’m.”(Daniel). I was about to tell him who I was, but he interrupted me.
“I know, I heard everything. The fridges are at the back.” He pointed his thumb to the metal door at his back.
“Ah, yes. Thanks.”(Daniel). I slightly bowed down my head out of instinct.
I managed to find the ice cream after a bit inside the room, but I picked the chocolate since I don’t know what she liked.
“That took a while.”(Density)
‘Just shut up, please.’(Daniel)
I handed her the ice cream, and when she took it, her mood became brighter. It feels like I’m looking at a dog.
“Hmm, good.”(Density)
“Hmm? What are you still doing here? Shuu Shuuu.”(Density). She was gesturing me to go away.
“I still don’t know what just happened today, but do you need something else from me?”(Daniel)
“Nothing, I really am just curious. Do you have a bloodline? Is it a power that lets you get stronger if you kill someone?”(Density)
“I don’t… Didn’t you already researched me? Then you know your answer.”(Daniel). I can’t fall for her tricks. Since she already told me that she looked me up, then the information she got was from the Evaluation center. And my documents say that I don’t have a bloodline.
“Well, that’s true. But it still doesn’t make any sense… Is it a spell?”(Density)
“No, it was because that guy pisses me who, so I killed him…. I got stronger because of… adrenaline.”(Daniel). I swallowed my saliva from nervousness.
She bought it, right?
“So I wasted my time on you? Should I just kill you?”(Density)
“Y-you can’t… I’m working here now.”(Daniel)
“So? I can erase someone like you, and no one will care and know.”(Density)
“Jenny. Stop. It… Stop. Scaring. Him.”
“Sorry, master, I just can’t help it. His face looks amusing when scared.”(Jenny)
So your name’s Jenny? Jenny, I’m going to get you for this.
“Oh! I just got an idea! Since you’re working here and we can’t trust you yet, how about you go with Anton on a mission?”(Jenny)
“Anton?”(Daniel)
“It’s the guy at the kitchen. He’s the only free guy right now since everyone else is on a mission.”(Jenny)
“I… I see.”(Daniel). What is she saying? Mission? Do I have to go to a task? What?
“But, why do I have to go with him? Like a water boy?”(Daniel)
“What? Similar to that, I guess. Do you think we can let you work with us without getting your hands dirty? Oh wait, your hands are already dirty. But you don’t think that no one will try to kill you just because you’re working in the café. They will still try since you’re not really one of us.”(Jenny)
“If you want to live, then become one of us.”(Jenny)
What?! I have to join them? I thought I only had to work in the café?!
“What?! I can’t do that! I’m in the Academy! I’m working to become an AE soldier!”(Daniel)
“We know, but it doesn’t mean you have other choices. Ahahaha, you still don’t get it? Isn’t it weird we can access your files easily? Maybe we have someone in the Academy… Maybe, but don’t worry, they’ll only call you when you’re given a task.”(Jenny)
Damn… They’re pulling me deeper and deeper.
“...”(Daniel)
“C’mon, it’s fun! But for now… Go get me a burger.”(Jenny)
“Jenny. Don’t. You. Have. Something. To. Do?” The old man spoke.
“Oh! I forgot! Master, I need some equipment for my next task. Just some ammunition and a new knife. But I forgot where I had left my key… Again. So I can’t get into the room. Everyone who has a replicate key is away, so…”(Jenny)
The old man sighed. Then he went through the drawer under the desk and gave Density a key. After she got the key, she left the café.
Finally, she’s gone.
After that, I stayed at the café working and watching the cats chase each other for a few hours before I had to go back before the curfew. But I had to go back to the dorm with the café uniform on.
The day at the café and the Master was ordinary. Some customers went inside the café, but you can only count them with two hands. The only work I had done was take orders and clean their plates.
“This was a weird day… I don’t know how to feel about this… But I’m not happy at all… Sigh… I’ll just train harder starting tomorrow. That would at least repel what I’m feeling for a bit.”(Daniel)

"Montana, come here." He nodded his head toward the door, leaving out of the room. Staying silent as Ms. Carol looked at me, I kissed the back of Josiah's hand before leaving out of the room. As I walked out, Messiah stood there looking at me in disgust while I closed the door. "What are you doing that shit for?" "Huh?" I said since I had nothing else to say, just trying to stall time to get my words together."Why are you stripping, Monty?"Sighing, I decided that I wasn't going to lie like I'd originally planned to do after listening to Chocolate's stupid advice. "Money." I spoke simply and he scoffed as I looked down."Why not just ask Josiah for money instead doing hoe shit?" "First of all, It's not doing hoe shit. I don't have sex with anyone. I just dance. And I don't want to ask him for any money. It's not his job to take care of me.""So stripping..." He trailed off with a laugh."..stripping was the last resort? Instead of putting your pride aside?" Saying nothing, I just looked at him with pleading eyes."Please don't tell him, Messiah." I could already tell by the look on his face that he was going to tell him."I ain't gon' tell him.." Thank God. I thought. "..you are." "What?!" I shrieked. "No. I'm not.""You are." He spoke in a demanding tone."Please. You know how he is." I expressed"And you know how he is too but you made that bed." "Messiah, he's going to kill me." I begged."I know." He shook his head, walking away from me."Better figure it out. You got until the end of the day to tell him or I will." He mumbled before walking back into the room.
