Chapter 13
*screech*
Storm and Kiria hear a loud screech coming from deep within the tunnels. They follow the sound and reach a jail cell. They had seen cells similar to the one in front of them but this one was special because it was not empty. Within the cell, they see the figure of a child bound by chains.
I know he was a messed-up guy but this is just… just aargh.
*screech*
Once again, the figure screeches and it makes the chains binding the figure rattle. The figure tries to get closer but the chains hold it back.
Calm down.
Storm walks up to the door and smashes it in. He walks into the room and the figure becomes visible to him. The figure that they saw was a little girl.
(Whispering) Hey, are you okay?
*screech*
The girl without saying a word screeches once again and attempts to claw at Storm. Without a thought, Storm gets closer to the little girl. One by one he removes the chains restraining her. As he removes the last chain the little girl leaps at him and begins to claw, bite, scratch, and kick, she struggles relentlessly doing everything she can think of in hopes of escaping. Storm holds the girl in his arms and picks her up attempting to calm her down. The girl continues to attack.
Calm down. Attacking is not going to work your claws will not reach my core and my remaining body will just endlessly regenerate…
As the girl was slashing at Storm’s body, she would manage to cut through Storm the cut region would disintegrate and his remaining body would fill in the removed part. In essence, Storm would endlessly regenerate no matter what the girl attempted to do.
*crying*
The girl who was desperately doing everything in her power slowly came to a halt and began crying.
I know you are scared but now you don’t need to be… ah You are safe. I promise.
The girl cries in Storm’s arms for a few minutes before passing out from exhaustion.
Master what are we supposed to do now.
For now, let’s just get her a bed. We can figure out the rest when she wakes up…

(Storm there is something you need to know.)
(What is it Myu?)
(This girl belongs to the demon race.)
(…and what of it??)
(The demon race is very hated in this world because of… the incident.)
(Don’t worry I can deal with this.)
(If you say so but I would advise keeping a close watch.)
(I will do as you command Miss Myu.)
***
Ha, fuu- fuu-Fuh -fuu with Diden gone I have even more responsibilities now. (Without him our cities defense is much more vulnerable.)
Commander Aluvia!!
!!What, what happened is there a breach… what?
Umm… we have received a warning from the City defenses, provisional commander. He found a spy just outside the gate.
A spy? A spy of whom? A neighboring country?
Provisional commander Levin’s report says that the spy was a… Kitsune pretending to be a Roc.
*According to Japanese mythology Kitsune’s are fox-like creatures that have the ability to shapeshift.
*A roc is a mythical bird popular in Middle Eastern Mythology.
(Why a roc? A roc is a giant bird that is very rarely spotted in the wild. Could this be some sort of trap??)
…Commander Aluvia… what are your orders?
…For now, bring him in. I need to discuss this matter with King Storm immediately. Transmission ring connect… King Storm.
*buzz**buzz*
Transmission receive…
Storm we need to talk about an important matter that has come up.
Important matter? …Meet me in my room.
Okay, I will be there.
*bzzzzz*
***
Are you sure that… you’re a spy?
Oh yes, I am very sure of being a spy. Why do you ask??
Why do I ask? No decent shape-shifting spy would take the form of a roc to spy on someone!!
I thought you would just consider this to be a very rare roc sighting. Unfortunate for me.
Sir!! We have got a response through transmission. We need to take him into the palace.
Okay then. Take him away!!
(mhh-hmm aha yes take me into the palace. Once master Yota finds out about this he will fly into a fit of rage and then it won’t matter what the old croak Shen says, …nothing will stop him from destroying this wretched city.)

Storm lays the little girl on the bed.
*knock**knock*
Come in!!
Storm…
Yes, I am Storm. Now, what was the thing you wanted to discuss?
Oh right, no wait who’s that girl? No, wait the other situation is more important.
My oh my you are all over the place. So, what happened?
It’s Levin, he found a spy.
…And what’s so big about that. The reason for the spy being here is pretty obvious there was a very shady change of Kingship. So other countries are… getting curious.
No, no that’s not it the spy was of… the kitsune clan and was spying on us with the appearance of a Roc.
A kitsune? That must mean it was a completely independent organization… or some army decided to recruit monsters…
I doubt that is it, I believe it might be a monster organization and they may have come here with a goal in mind…
The goal is saving all the trapped and enslaved monsters, right…
Yes, it seems their information is outdated.
It is possible but the better assumption is that someone is giving them the wrong information. Someone who probably hates us for killing her brother.
You mean… Zystar.
We have not found her, yet have we?
Not yet, no but back to the immediate matter. The thing that is bugging me… Why a Roc?
…hmm that is weird kitsune’s are a really smart bunch. Let me think… meanwhile what about the spy.
I gave Levin the order to bring him to the palace.
Did the spy show any signs of struggle? Or was he acting weird?
You don’t think he is rigged with some sort of rune magic, do you?
No, that’s not it… it could be that… the kitsune’s mission was to get captured. No, monster organizations tend to be tightly knit together more likely the kitsune acted independently.
But why would the kitsune do that??
In an almost trance-like form Storm sits on the bed. To everyone in the room, it seemed like he was thinking very hard… but in truth, he was discussing the matter with Myu, and the conclusion they came to was.
The organization’s head probably said to wait and not attack immediately or rather someone… a knowledgeable person in the organization stopped the head for some reason, but kitsune is a war-loving species so the spy probably wanted to hasten the attack so he exposed himself. Hoping that his leader would fly into a rage and attack us.
So, the kitsune is trying to wage war by pretending he was enslaved by us?
YES, YES that is what he is trying to do!! We can confirm this theory once he gets here.
Okay, …that’s what we will do then. So, who’s the little girl?
Oh, she was the one making the sounds I heard down near the cave.
She was the one making the weird sounds you heard??
I’ll explain…
***
General Yota!!
What’s wrong Mikazuchi?
The kitsune squad… we are missing, we are missing Aides. We believe he was kidnapped.
What do you mean?
His room is a complete mess! It looks like he had a struggle. Ultimately it looks as though he lost.
Who could have done that?
WHO ELSE IT HAD TO BE THEM!!
And what proof do you have Mikazuchi?
Think about it general Shen who else would it be.
Yota my boy we should investigate before we do something we will come to regret.
…I am sorry old man Shen. I can’t wait any longer. !!Get ready well will move out in three days from now!!
(Yes, aha yes finally war. We finally get to have a war hehe.)
(Yota will not listen any longer… I knew we shouldn’t have taken in the kitsune clan… and I still find the informant girls' information about this King Storm hard to believe… the only way for me to confirm the information now is to speak to him in person.) I hope I will be able to get an audience with him before things get violent…
3 days left till the Monster organization attacks the City of Estelle…

Hey! Beneath the Dragoneye Moons is my first writing effort, so please be kind, but don’t hesitate to point out the flaws. The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but it gets there! I’m going to be posting M-W-F I do know how the story ends, and I promise if it ever gets dropped, or I stop doing this, I will post the ending. There will be no random “this is the last chapter” out of the blue. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.
