《Never Bring Sword Into a Gun Fight》First job in Dasi

The next morning...
I feel miserable...
The straw and hide bed is hard that I have a better sleep sleeping on a carpeted floor in my past life.
The straw itself might be changed periodically, but the hide only gets a wash every so often that you can't sleep sideways because of the smell.
Don't even think about a blanket because you don't get any.
And don't even ask to take bath here either, because you only get a bucket of water and a piece of rag to wipe your sweat.
Luckily I have a bit of money now so I can buy fresh clothes using a miracle shop. At least I'll be a little bit fresher than reusing yesterday clothes.
Re equipping my holster, I meet Andreas and Val downstairs.
[Yo Dean! How's your night?] Andreas
[Not bad...
Hmm? Are you going somewhere Val?] Me
I can see his backpack beside him
[Yeah... I need to resume my journey to Romora today.] Val
[For a merchant, a place like this is just for a resting stop. There's no point to do a business in a place that doesn't have a lot of people passing through.] Andreas
[How about you Andre?] Me
[Me? What kind of a bard I am to let through a story about lycan? I'm not leaving until I get a complete story!] Andreas
[Hahaha.. so that's that huh?! Well, then Val. I hope we can meet again.] Me
[I hope so. Oh right. Here's for you. Consider it as thanks. It's not much, but I think you'll need it as mercenaries.] Val
A leather armor. It's true that I need it. It might be nothing considering I can get a level IIA to level IV body armor from my miracle shop, but at least this way, people will notice me as mercenaries easier.

[Thank Val. Are you sure I didn't need to pay for it? I have some money you know.] me
[No no. I need you to take it. It's common for traveling merchants to always repay the good deeds they get in their journey.] Val
[I'll definitely use it. Thanks again.] Me
[No problem. Well then. I'll take my leave here. I'm going together with a group that the village chief send to Romora today. Take care!] Val
[[Byee. See you soon]]
--------------------------------------------------
[Oyy!! You there! You're a mercenary hired by the village chief right?] Villager
A slender-looking man approaching me.
[I do. My name is Dean, a mercenary. Nice to meet you.] Me
[Hi there Dean. I'm Billy, a leader of the tonight guard. Nice to meet you.] Billy
A guard? Isn't he look too skimpy to be...? No no no, I can't be judging someone before hearing a full story.
[Why the confused face?] Billy
[Hahaha. I know. you must be thinking how a skinny person like me became a guard leader right?] Billy
[Umm. Yeah... sorry] me
[No worries, I understand. A small village like this didn't have a dedicated guard. We usually take turns to do the role. But for these three nights, because I'm actually a hunter, the village chief choose me as guard leader as I'm with the most experience handling wild animals. Well, to be honest, I have some experience with a wolf and wild dog, but not a lycan though.] Billy
[Well... Yesterday is also my first time meeting a lycan. But one thing for sure, it's one hell of a tough best.] Me
[I heard you're a magician right? It must be very though then if even a magician is saying that. Well then Dean, I need you to guard on top of the guardtower over there for tonight.] Billy
[Leave it to me!] Me
[sigh... I just hope we can survive these three nights.] Billy

Scholar of the Fog
Leaving a trail of blood as he climbed up a hill, his limbs felt like lead. He was gasping too, his lungs burning with every step he took. It felt like a bundle of broken glass was scraping away the inner walls of his flesh. He was dying, obvious to both him and his pursuers. And it would not be long till he dropped dead as he bled away. If not, the people chasing him would surely finished what they had came for. It was as if the Gods themselves had already predestined his fate. He took one step forward and stood at the peak of the hill. He let his legs rest as he could barely go on. Heaving deep breaths, he could hear sneering voices and shouts behind him. They were close, and the grim realization stoked the embers of his most primal fear. He did not want to die. He had dreams, like any other youth. There was glory to be had in this world. He wanted to learn more of life, and lived through its motions. He wanted to live. He swept his gaze, and across him was a spanning forest of old. With a glint in his eyes, and jaws clenched, he decided to gamble with all he had. He was dying, and by now, it did not matter where his grave was. He ran down the hill, and stopped where the plains and the forest met. His eyes swept about the trees, and he could feel an instinctual urge to drag himself away. He knew what this forest was, and here, he would find his salvation. Or his doom. The voices behind him grew closer, and among the noise was the faint clanging of steel. Gritting his teeth, he ousted all the will he had from the depths of his soul and stepped forth into the forest. Damned he be by the Gods if they wanted him dead. -new synopsis 10/6/2016 ---------- A new chapter would be released every friday. And the quality of writing should improve each time, hopefully. Another important thing to mention is how the story as of now, is only a bedrock for a massive world if it ever gets there. (CH18) And if possible, reviews are very much appreciated. ---------- For the ones who are interested in the old synopsis: With one foot in the grave, he ran away for that little bit of hope.
