《The Country of Monsters》Prologue

Opening my eyes to the light blue of the morning sky decorated with fluffy white clouds, I felt the warm breeze on my naked skin as I laid on the short fresh grass. I appeared to be in what looked like a big valley surrounded by mountains. Within the mountains’ reach, the trees of various species seemed to cover the earth, perhaps fostering a home to many different animals. Animals which perhaps would eat me alive if I accidentally wander into their homes.
Other than this weird feeling inside my chest, I had not idea of who I was. I had two legs and two arms, yet I could not see my face or remember my name. Where did I come from? Who am I? Questions like these, I had no answer to.
The weird feeling grew as I looked around to try and understand where I was. As if there was a waterfall inside my heart, the feeling was amorphous, slowly increasing its range into my veins. Gradually, it reached to my extremities, overwhelming me.
I felt an urge to redirect it to outside of my body. Thinking about how I can do that, I instinctively gathered it on my fingertips. It seemed to fill its container, ready to explode, I manipulated it to store the entire feeling and slowly bringing it out.
As I reached out my hands, pointing ahead with my index finger, a rotating whirlwind shape with a purple haze appeared out of nowhere. It enlarged and enlarged as I kept focusing on the feeling, pouring it into the rotating shape. The shape that appeared before my eyes became more and more opaque and was as if I could enter it. I knew it was a gate of some sort. It was an inherent knowledge I evoked the moment I summoned the gate. Gate – or a portal. To where? I did not quite know.

Soon I understand the reason for my ignorance. It was not a gate to somewhere. It was a gate from somewhere.
Soon, green-skinned creatures started marching out the gate. They had short arms and short legs and their height reached my chest. They had four fingers on their hands. Most of them were skinny and only some of them had hair. They all had some sort of clothing on unlike me covering their genitalia and some, those I assumed to be females, their breasts as well. There were 26 of them, all looking perplexed, trying to assess the situation they were in. One of them, one with a sharp jawline, presumably a male, and big eyes stepped ahead.
“You, master, we serve.”
“?”

Giantslayer
Synopsis: Alain is a fledgling Giantslayer, enhanced individuals capable of killing deadly giants. But these giants are not big, they are what ancient humans would refer to as mundane animals or beasts. 'The Final Curse' as many humans call it, was a curse that shrunk down the entire human population to the size of small rodents. When the curse first occurred, the majority of the human population was eaten by beasts who are now of towering heights and sizes. But their abandoned gargantuan structures were not built for naught, the remaining humans retreated back into their now giant buildings and rebuild societies and nations inside of them. Follow Alain in his quest to right the wrongs done to his past and hunt down the elusive and mythical Elder Giants, giants capable of intellects and speech. Are they real? Alain certainly insists so despite no one believing him. But perhaps it did not matter, they were real enough to him for what they did to his family. A/N: I'm pretty new to writing creatively so I hope to improve as we move along the story. The prose I use is still fairly simple and 'plain', but I am also new to literature in general so I am hoping to improve my vocabulary as well. It should also come under no surprise that I am a non-native English speaker and writer as well. With that said, I do appreciate constructive feedback. Please don't be overly mean at least. All the chapters are rough drafts that will be edited in the future. The cover is by this user from pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/4545042
