《Chaos uploaded》Chapter 20 - Flight!

Author's note: Re-named all previous chapters, by adding 'chapter xx' before them. I don't know why I did it, I guess it was for procrastination. XD
Edit: I am an idiot. I put chapter 20 in the name of this chapter...basing off the 'lastest uploaded' page saying that I had 24 chapters. In reality, 5 of these weren't part of the main story(3 prologues, 1 sidestory and 1 interlude), meaning that the correct number here is chapter 20, NOT 25. I'm such an idiot.

Nysa POV
I smiled warmly as I looked at the hut that once was my home for a few days, before going over to my journey. I couldn't wait till I find my sister! I bet she would be so impressed about it! I excitedly flapped my wings, before I began to think about how to proceed. The next logical step was to go to the village, according to the wizard but that was just the 'main quest line' wasn't it?
It was a long time until I arrived the village, anyways. According to the wizard, it would take one whole day until I arrive there. Oh well, I could use that time for productivity, right? I bet I could learn to jump, or maybe create a few new dozen skills until that time. Or maybe gain a few dozen levels.
And I already knew what to do to train my first skill! I jumped ahead, using the 'air-burst', the skill I used to slow my fall when fleeing from Hachi, along with the skill [float]. I didn't take off. I jumped again, this time, trying a little harder. Nope, not taking off... but the momentum was helping. And so, I did the third jump, and instead of doing it just as I jumped, I tried something different. I let the constant stream of air, just as strong as the jumps.

The skill [float] has leveled up!
The skill [Mana manipulation] has leveled up!
You have learnt a new skill!FlightRating: ★★★☆☆Level 1, beginnerXP: 5.00%Cost: 5 MP(per second), small stamina costCast time: InstantCooldown: 0Type: Air magicBy using wind magic, you managed to out-do gravity and fly!
Current maximum speed: 1ft/s.
Higher levels increase flight speed and maneuverability
I couldn't help but grin widely. In the moment I have a mana regen of 5 points per second, is the moment I'll never touch the ground again... although I remembered something. While I have this activated, I can't cast any spells without resorting to my dual-cast... suddenly, flight isn't as exciting as before. Even then, I was quite slower than when I ran...
Well, that's to be expected, from a level 1 skill. I can't complain too much, since a few seconds ago I was a flightless fairy, and now I was flying freely.
And even then, this is so fun! I spread my arms wide, enjoying the breeze for now, deciding to not bother so much with skills for the next few minutes. I even closed my eyes, to enjoy the sensation of flight even more...
But then, the sensation of flight was soon interrupted. Interrupted by the feeling of being carried away. It was a strange, and somewhat unsettling feeling...and so, I opened my eyes, and realized something.
A blue bird thought of me as easy prey, and tried to kidnap me. Well, I would be dead meat...if I didn't know how to use magic. Although the direction it was dragging me was the same as the one I was going, so I didn't bother to escape. Not yet at least.
After a few minutes, the bird decided to land for a meal. It flew down, towards a nearby branch. That was my clue to escape it. I smiled, already deciding on the method to use.

I used the wind magic, to form a blast of wind, instead of going down to make me fly upwards, I aimed up to make me go down, dragging the bird along with me.
The skill [Flight] has leveled up!
I smiled at the skill level up, before I noticed the results of my attempt: It made the bird hit the branch face-first, dropping me down. Not a problem, I still had mana to spare! I had only half of my max mana, but it was still good enough.
I gathered my magic on my hand, deciding to try the 'double-cast'. I threw a fireball up, at the bird, while using [flight] on my body, to slow down my landing.
You won the battle![37.5% for next level up]
I know that I am powerful for my level but... isn't that a little too fast?! I mean, if I kill 8 of these birds, I'd receive a level up!
Smilling, I already knew how to farm for quick XP. To fly, attract birds, get a ride, and kill them. And so, I walked until my mana recovered. It was a bit surprising, how quiet the forest was, though. Was it because I was too small to be noticed?
Was I even going in the right path? I did not know. But by the time I realized, my mana fully recovered again. Now let's try this again. I crouched down on the ground, to get ready for a jump. "One, two, three!" I jumped, and activated [flight]. I flew upwards, aiming for the skies.
And just like I expected, it took only a dozen seconds until one of the birds spotted me, and flew down. I let myself be caught... mainly because I would get a free ride. If he flew to any other direction, it was a simple matter of burning it down at point-blank range.
I was carried for a second or two, everything was going smoothly, except for one fact. The bird was dumb enough to not plan ahead of time, and so, we both ended up stuck on a web, which connected two trees together.
"You dumb bird!" I shouted, angrily.
"CREEEE!" The bird shouted back, sounding closer to a crow than anything else.
I felt like I should punch the bird right there right now...but there was a bigger issue, at least for me: Whatever is the thing that made this web. I could hear some giggles coming from deep in the woods, coming closer.
"Aya knew that Aya's trap would work!" A girlish voice said, sounding quite happy.

Author's note: So, due to everything happening in college, AND difficulty on writing, I'm changing my update schedule. Expect 1 chapter every 2 days, rather than 1 chapter per day. I'm sorry folks about that, but college takes priority y'know?

This is my first story to ever be posted. As I am an amateur writer, there shall be mistakes. More so with the fact that English is not my first language. This story is a re-write, and its original version was a request by a dear friend of mine. Though hopefully this version would be far better.. As the original version was a very cringe worthy thing. Many thanks to certain friends that have convinced me to post this. I shall do my best to at least update frequently, without sacrificing the.. quality of chapters. Tags will be added as the story goes on. || Disclaimer: Much of the chapters before Chapter Twelve are of poorer quality in terms of Grammar. So do forgive me for them, by Chapter Twelve and beyond however, the quality of the chapters should have had improved. I'm hopefully gonna fix most of the earlier chapters when I hit Chapter Twenty or Thirty.
