《The Cakeboss Chronicles》Pie pies

Just as the chomp was wondering why the entire army of pies didn't just rise up at once and doom them, that's precisely what happened. His worst fears were confirmed.
It all made sense if one assumed that the pies were being controlled by an external entity, perhaps another malicious chomp? Whatever or whoever this entity was, they had apparently been testing the waters by sending out their foot soldiers in smaller numbers. Now that the chomp and Poot had decimated the front ranks of the pie army, this entity had decided to mobilize the entire cohort in a fit of rage.
"Locked and loaded", said Poot.
The chomp supposed this meant his stink blast was ready. But he wasn't sure a single blast would be enough to take on all of the pies at once.
"Is there any way for you to increase your blast radius?"
"Not with my current fuel supplies", responded Poot.
"I'll need a lot more pie."
"How much more?" Asked the chomp.
There are often hidden depths to chomps that one does not always see on the surface. For instance, no chomp had bothered to look beyond Poot's stank to realize what a great mathematician he was.
Poot did a few mental calculations.
"Judging by the mean weights of all the pies we've encountered here, and my current metabolic rate... let's see..."
"Around 3.14 pies", Poot concluded.
The chomp thought about this for a bit.
"You stay here", he said finally, "and focus on charging up. Don't waste your blasts. I'll get you the pies."
The chomp ran towards the now levitating army and flanked them from the grassland on one side of the road. He waved at the pies frantically.
"Helloooo! Big, jiggly chomp over here! Smack me in the face if you dare!"

The Final Test
Earth was overtaken by the Calumnia ten years ago and if it weren't for the alien Occisio race who saved the remnants of humanity, Indi's race would have gone extinct. Now, at the age of sixteen, Indi and the other surviving children are about to complete their training and return to Earth to kill the monster that destroyed their world and killed their parents. However, the children on the Occisio's spaceship have been dismissed one by one in training tests and only a few of them remain. Will Indi prove himself skilled enough to become a soldier? Or will he fail humanity as his parents did? This short story (in 13 parts) is a love letter to fans of Ender's Game and Maze Runner. (I may eventually turn this into a novel but for now, I hope you enjoy this 10,000 word story about hope and overcoming one's weakness.) [This story will appear on other websites as well, such as Wattpad and Royal Road.]

Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.
