《Isekaid Friendship》Chapter 5

I look over at the elf. It looks like she’s thinking. “Alright I’ve got an easy spell.” She speaks. “Okay show me.” I speak. “So here I go.” She states. She holds up her left hand out towards the wall behind me. Then her ears begin to glow and a small white bullet flies of into the wall. “Was that a magic bullet?” I just ask her. “No, it’s an Arcane missile. Now you try.” She tells me. “Alright, I’ll try.” I say and I hold up my right hand as well. I point them towards the wall. I feel a little excited. I can feel energy flowing through my body. “Focus yourself on one place, imagine the missile coming out of your hand.” She speaks. Okay Louis you’re a writer. Your imagination is good enough to imagine something you just saw. Come on. Come on. Come on Segate, you can do this!
A bit of white smoke begins to appear from my arm. Then a small bullet begins to appear from the palm of my hand and my horns begin to glow. Once it’s fully formed it shoots out and pierces through the wall. “Holy shit I did it.” I just mumble. “Good job you did it. So that means that your main element is Arcana.” She speaks. “Thank you miss.” I say her. “It’s Gaima.” Gaima says. I’m Segate by the way.” I just quickly add. Gaima I’m sorry but I want to ask one more question.” I ask Gaima. She smiles once more.
“Okay you can ask just one more question” Gaima says while she holds up one finger. I take out the gem. It’s as big as my hand and it’s glowing red. “Do you know what this is?” I ask her while holding the gem. “Well, it looks like an artifact but I’m not sure. You should visit The Atin which is two streets away. It’s closed right now but tomorrow it should be open.” Gaima tells me.

“Thank you so much Gaima I’m in debt to you.” I tell her. “Then maybe you should get a room for you and your friends, even though you’ll probably sit in that room alone. Unless I would keep you company.” Gaima teases. “Well, I’d love to have the company of a pretty lady, but I feel like I’m not your type. Besides I feel like my friends won’t fuck your peers all night. Or at least I hope that.” I just tell her. “Since you’re ordering a room, I’ll accept any payment.” Gaima continues jokingly, I think. “I’ll just give you money.” I just quickly tell her. “Oh, okay then Segate.” Gaima says while acting a little sad. I give her the Jins and Shiru’s and get the key for room 30.
I enter room 30 and it’s not that big. I can barely fit into it. It has a small red carpet and a bed. I think I could fit into the bed but I’m not sure. I just keep the door unlock and just lie on the bed. I’ll wait until it feels late, and then I’ll lock the door because they won’t be coming back then anyway. While I’m lying on the bed, I begin to look at my hands. I still can’t believe that I created an Arcane missile out of it. I don’t feel drained at all which makes me feel weird. I look around and don’t see any signs that say that I can’t use magic. I hold up my right hand and begin to focus. Then I feel one bullet has formed and a few seconds later it’s launched into the wall. Then another. And another. It goes faster and faster the more I use the spell. After bullet 5 I stopped. I wanted to save some of my mana for if Danji and Ikattef would come back.

An hour passes and no one has come in yet. I go to the door and open it and I see an elf dragging Ikattef along. She sees me and walks towards me. “I see you’ve gotten yourself a room. It’s pretty small though, will it even be able to fit all three of you in?” She asks a little concerned. “Oh, we’ll manage I guess, we’re basically brothers after all. I’ll get him in the room.” I just tell her as I take Ikattef over. “Well then good night.” I just tell her as I close the door. I put my friend on the bed and get a blanket on him. One down one to go. Then I just lock the door. Time for me to get some sleep again. I sit down next to the door and close my eyes. Not long after I fall asleep as well.

The Glyph Queen
When Winnie was thirteen, her settlement taught her how to fire a rifle. Her school practiced drills in case raiders came, and the town grew crops in their greenhouse-adapted homes, which were the only places warm enough during the worldwide nuclear winter. The Lakiran empire invades—a corporate-born nation overseen by their corporate-born queen, Victoria Paladino. They ride silent planes whose repulsion field veered bullets away. Three years of occupation later, an exemplar visits—a member of Victoria’s oversight committee rumored to read minds. He tells Winnie that she may have a unique mental power, or a flair. At the empire’s capital, the queen herself tutors Winnie to help her reach the full potential of whatever power she may have. Meanwhile, in post-war Nigeria, a streetwise teenager named Naema sees a different side of the empire. Between corruption and oppression, everyone lives in squaller. People fight over assembled food pastes. She too is told she has a unique flair, not by the empire, but by a fugitive woman who is the last vestige of an ancient witch coven, and she knows a dark secret about what the exemplars do to people like Winnie and Naema. The Discarded
The Umbrae Lunae existed before man, beautiful abominations birthed in the nightmares of mad gods. They wait for humanity to misstep, for the angels to look away. For the moment when they can cloak the world in moon shadows once again. But even horrors have children. Even nightmares must feed. One child, unlike the others, finds his way to a school for young abominations. Will he be a sheep cast before the wolves, or a terror that wears the skin of wool to entice the wolf close? The flesh of his body was his only coin, strips cut to pay debts that never ended. Everyone has scars, stories in a life led, lessons learned, and licks taken. Luminous bodies touched by darkness. There are a cursed few that are the opposite, black shadows consumed by scars, twisted minds devoured by diseased hungers, bodies tortured misshapen works of gouged flesh, silver lines of blade thin cuts, ragged tears of teeth and glass. For them, the scars are marks of homecoming, the mangled wasteland the only place they feel at peace. Hell is a place. It's made of concrete, steel and glass. It's the sounds of starving kids crying themselves to sleep, huddling into small balls as creepers come and take their due of innocence and tender meat. It's eating rotten food and carrying ticks in your hair. It’s having no one and nothing while surrounded by everything. It's the life of a street kid. What abomination was birthed in the corrupt womb of man’s cast-off shit? Pretty people don't know the power of ugly. They can't see the strength in a broken soul or the power in a calloused heart. Those secrets are for the discarded alone. Only the broken understand the grace of darkness. The blessed folds that hide scars and tears, the protection of its concealing umbra.
