Then he remembered- he needed a class. But what class would suit him? He was both a warrior and a mage. Only classes such as spellbades or close combat mages suited people such as himself. 'Oh well. I'll find out once I get to the next city.'
Whilst he walked, he saw a pack of wolves attacking a young girl. She wore adventurer's clothing and had pink hair. She was waving a knife furiously at the wolves but to no avail. They surrounded her and, just when they were about to jump at her, five of them had been fried with lightening bolts whilst the other three were burnt.
She looked around, flustered. She spied Kira about 30 meters away from her. He saluted her and started to walk off. "Wait! Wait for me!" She shouted when she saw her savior was walking away. Kira frowned, he didn't want to be part of a party; if she invited him to a party he would refuse.
"Thank you! I thought I was a goner! My name is Yuno. What's yours?" She asked him once she had finally caught up. "Kira." She looked at his equipment. "You must be pretty high leveled to kill an entire pack without problem. What level are you?" Kira was shocked- this meant she wasn't even level 3! "13. Actually that was my entire mana pool. What are you doing so deep in the forest Yuno?"
"This isn't actually that deep. The town is about ten minutes walk in that direction." She pointed. "Wait, does that mean you came from another town? They're supposed to be miles apart from each other, and you have to kill a bear befor-" She noticed what material his cloak was made out of. "Oh." She said dejectedly. "I am going back now, could you please go to town with me? I have no courage I protecting myself." She timidly asked; Kira swore he could see her blush. Nodding the set off together.

"So what class are you?" She asked him after two minutes, breaking the awkward silence. "Classless, but I hope to get a class when I get to town." She looked at him with wonder in her eyes; the man in front of her was too amazing- he had taken down a bear classless! "I am guessing you want a wizard class." Kira chuckled. "You're half-correct. I want to be a magical swordsman." Growling snapped them out of their conversation. It was a pack of wolves. "Help, please." Yuno clutched Kira's arm. Five lightning bolts and three fireballs answered her request.
*Ding* Congratulations! Your mastery of your fireball allows it to level up to intermediate! You have unlock spell brilliant flame! Costs 40 mana.
*Ding* Congratulations! Your mastery of lightning bolt has allows it to level up to intermediate! You have unlocked new spell lightning spear! Costs 50 mana.
Startled, Kira read the notifications and smirked. "What happened?" Yuno asked him by his side, seeing his expression. "Nothing. Let's go."
They soon reached the town. Saying their goodbyes, Yuno and Kira parted ways. "Make sure you start off with enemies your level next time ok?" Kira said patted her absentmindedly; he had a habit of doing this; no one knew why, but all the people who had their heads patted by Kira reported that his petting skills were first class. Anyway, Kira went in search of the adventurers guild.
He pushed open the guild doors and got the exact same stares as before: Stares of wonder and respect, and it was all due to the red pelt that he used as his cloak.
"Hello sir, is there anything I could help you with?" The receptionist asked him. She was a white haired girl with the name tag of Yukine. "Yes actually, I would like to sell these." He brang out the weapons and pelts. He pointed to the weapons. "You can give any price, I am not too picky, but for the pelts I would like the standard price." He had gained over 80 copper for the pelts and 300 copper for the weapons, bringing his total revenue to three silver coins and 80 copper coins.

"There is one other thing you can help me with." The receptionist raised an eyebrow. "Where can I get a class change. I want to be a magical swordsman." She smiled. "Actually this is where you get your class change, you can only get your fist class when you're level 10, and the second class when you're level 20, and the third class when you're level 40. A class unlocks every 20 levels. I assume you're qualified for your first class." Kit nodded, she was correct. He needed seven more levels for the second class. The receptionist continued.
"The way that a class change works is by looking at you combat history and deciding your aptitude towards classes. You then decide out of the choices given. Is that alright?"
"That seems perfectly fine." She hurriedly ran back to get a crystal. When she returned, she was panting; the crystal was obviously heavy. "Place your hands on it." Kira did so and the crystal started to shine a bright light. All heads in the guild turned towards him; a class change was always interesting- some got what they wanted, some didn't.
*Ding* Congratulations on your class change! Here are your options: Mage. Warrior. Magic swordsman. Berserker.
"Magic swordsman please."
*Ding* Your class has been changed to magic swordsman. Beware, you cannot change it.
Smiling to himself, Kira went up to the job offers. He looked at all of them but the one about killing the local bear was incredibly attractive. Taking the job, Kira marched out of the guild.
Some of the people in the hall glanced at each other, and stood to leave. They all had the same insignia.

Shift (Ben 10+DCU Fanfiction)
Omnitrix+ DCU, what's not to like? The main character will not be Ben Tennyson, rather someone from our world who gains the Omnitrix Hello! This fanfiction Shift is what I wanted to do for an homage to what I thought were underrated pieces of media, Ben 10 and some DCU characters. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t add context to two of the major works that inspired Shift, Dial, and A Practical Guide to Evil. Dial is another ben 10 fanfiction, however that story takes place in the MCU, and with an adult that is already a grown-up at the beginning of the story. Dial, by my own accounts, is more superficially Like shift, even though the Omnitrix is a central device in both. My protagonist starts out around 18 years old, so is less serious and can build relationships with some of the junior justice league members, and then later on in the story meet the Justice League officially. The tone will be more light-hearted at the beginning of the story as teenagers are known to use sarcasm and jokes at each other’s expense. Furthermore, in Dial, the protagonist has a well-developed knowledge of the MCU which he uses to have knowledge on events and characters, that the character in Shift will not have. While the MC will have some knowledge of people's abilities, lesser-known characters and people's real identities will be not included as much, but the MC of Shift will have some knowledge. APGTE's influence is deeper than Dials'. The epigraphs at the beginning of every chapter are an example of that, a place for light-hearted jokes and worldbuilding that's not pure exposition, but I also want to incorporate narrative stories to Shift (heroes win more than lose, providence, etc) on a lighthearted scale. While the heroes of Shift will have to work to win against villains, the MC of Shift will be allowed limited precognition, through narratives tropes and archetypes as a trade-off of less knowledge of the DCU. For example, a villain a hero faces might monologue, but the MC will not instinctively know how to counter every villain they encounter. I also wanted to bring in more realism than usual superhero stories, ie: the MC cannot just walk and have a meeting with Batman or Superman, he would have to “work his way up” in terms of credibility and whatnot. The Aliens that show up in Shift I tried to make different than the ones in Dial, just to share the love for lesser-known characters. And to make it fairer for the villains of the DCU, the main character will not wantonly use if gain at all an Alien X or a ben 10 form of Kryptonians, just so the characters have to work a little bit for victory. I urge anyone reading to consider checking out both APGTE and Dial as they are both amazing works, and I hope you enjoy them. The beginning of how the MC enters the DCU will not be as important as him actually existing in that universe, so that is why a ton of time is not spent on that part of the story. Chapters will be around 2.5 thousand words and come out around every weekday.

It's my approach with a System like story without the system or other front-end applications of one.
