Chapter 9: Dark Quasi Mage

Another screen appeared. This one listed all the classes an individual can be inside the game. The selections were swordsman, archer, mage, knight, assassin, tamers, berserker, thief and priest. These were the major classes people can pick from. Furthermore there are hidden classes throughout the game but one would have to find them by luck.

Each class would gain stats differently. They would give you 10 points to choose whatever stats you want to add too and then the individual person would also have the preset class growth whenever they level up. For example a swordsman would have a stat bonus of plus 3 points in attack, and two points in stamina while everything else are 1 point bonuses. While a thief would have 3 points in agility, and two points in intellect while everything else is one. So each class is different. Furthermore the weapons and armors they use are different too. In this game due to the 99% realism they allow players to wear whatever they want but the problem comes when using items outside of your class get their stats cut in half. So a sword with 10 attack will only have 5 attack. A body armor with 6 defense will have only 3 defense.

I then selected the warrior class for two reasons. One is because I like swords and in my martial arts school I have been practicing the sword. Therefore I have a foundation in it. Second I heard from Dong Seng that Wenxin likes the warrior class too. I guess your can say out of the two reasons 70 percent of it came from my second reason. To be completely honest I really wanted to be a mage. The reasoning is because if I am going to play a virtual reality game why would I want to be normal and go around swinging a sword when I can be shooting out lightning from my fingers and farting fire. It just blows my mind why the mage class is only the third most popular class in the game after assassin and warrior.

Hidden Race: Divine Demon

Throughout the Ancient times the Divine Demon race were the true rulers of the world. They were known as the strongest beings under God. No race were able to compete with their dominance. Possessing the ability to wield two classes they were undefeatable. You possess the ancient bloodline of the Divine Demon race. Please choose a second class.

Huh? Thats new I thought. Then again compare to everyone else I am a complete noob at this and everything would seem new to me.

Ok so since I got a second chance at this I decided to pick the mage class for the second class.

Alright, so I should probable explain these stats they gave out. There are two types of stats given here. There is a lot of equations and others stats not included but I decided these were the most important. So health, mana, attack, and defense, are known as physical aspect. Meaning these stats tell me how much damage are done to the other party and how much damage the other party can do to me. Furthermore in this game we would also receive 10 additional points to add to any stats. The stats you can add these points to are strength, endurance, agility, intellect and stamina. These stats would then affect our health, mana, attack, defense and agility. There are also other stats such as magic damage but that is just a bunch of equations using Mana, attack, and intellect to calculate. Furthermore it also does double damage on armor classes. Then the elements also come into play. The point is it will get really confusing if I start explaining it now. Just think of it like rock paper and scissors. Warriors beat archers, archers beat mage, mage beat warriors.

“Hahaha, good things come to those who wait!” I laughed maniacally. “I would be an idiot for not accepting! It is a hidden class!”

Thus I accepted without hesitation.

Light began to surround me as I was teleported to the actual game.

I reappeared in a new field. I looked around and I saw some run down shacks and a dirt floor. This was the beginning village.I also saw a lot of players beginning to appear on this field I was in. About 5 seconds later hologram sign appeared above everyone’s head.

WELCOME TO ASCENSION!

System Announcement: [Demon’s Newbie Village]’s Village Head had given you a new set of newbie equipments. They include – Rusty Sword and tatter robe.

That was it? No health potions no nothing?

“Player stats!” I yelled and a hologram screen appears in front of me. Everyone around me were looking at me like I was a complete noob. Anyway this was my stats. Due to me picking my classes a new set of stats appeared before me.

From the looks of things the stats are not that bad. If other beginners were to see this they would be jealous to the point of suicide. This is because this is close to a level 2 stats for players in this game. Normal mages start out with 25 mana. Normal melee profession jobs usually start out with 2 to 3 attacks and 1 in defense and everything else. Also I have about 25 more health than everyone except Knight professions since they start with 110 health.

I decided to equip my rusty sword which I named rusty and my tatter robe. My attack increased by one and my defense also increased by one.

Sigh! Alright, if I remember correctly I was supposed to go find the Newbie guide. Thus I strode out like a dragon look for the newbie guide of this village. As I jogged through this empty village I found that there were more and more huts as I went along. There were other players trying to find the newbie guide too.

“Ahh! Stop!”

I heard a scream coming out from one of the alleys. I also saw that when someone walks near that alley they tend to speed up dramatically.

I jogged over and peered in only to see three grown ass man beating up a nerdy looking guy wearing the same robe as me. The moment I appeared in that hallway all three of those overgrown gorillas turned their attention onto me.

“Please help me mister!” the nerdy guy begs.

“Shut up!” one the over grown gorillas kicked the man.

“Umm. I am not really a part of this so I will leave!” I said when I was about to bolt when I heard one of the overgrown gorilla laughs.

“Hahaha this shorty not only short but a cower too!”

My ears perked up and I stopped in my track.

“Say it one more time!” I roared back stomping into the alleyway.

“I said! You are not only a midget but also a scared pu**y!” he shouts out loud enough for everyone to hear. The other players saw their size and decided to avoid him.

“Hey over grown dogs you want a beating?” I yelled. I couldn't think of a good comeback so that was all I got.

Before I knew it I was surrounded.

Gulp!

“Little mage you better turn your pain system down cause your in for a world of pain bruh!” advise one of them.

One of them threw out a punch! I saw it coming and dodged. Thats what I would like to say but for some reason the system won’t let me dodge at the last second and I was hit directly in the face.

My body spun through the air like an elegantly thrown football.

A big fat zero appeared above my head. It seems that players cannot kill each other here but pain was still pain.

Another one threw a punch at me and I grabbed his arm. I had enough strength to completely stop his punch.

I got up and felt that I might be able to do this. My stats were probable better than theirs. Normal warrior strength stats were two but mine were 4 which were double their’s.

They had this astonished looked on his face. They couldn't believe a small mage like me could be stronger than them. Hahaha thank you 3 point bonus. I lashed out a kick sending one of them flying.

“Muhahaha!” I laughed with a smile on my face. I think it might be my demon class that made my smile looked extremely evil. They were like scared kitties cowering in the corner as a Chinese chef strides forward.
