《The Story of how I died and was reborn in another world as a Half-Demi》Chapter 5 – It finally seems to get interesting! – well, maybe…

I’m sure you know, that I got some dragon cubs? Today, more than a month after that incident, another dragon cub appeared in the front of the house. Am I some kind of dragon magnet, or what? I can’t watch over a hoard of them! I mean, Caelus, the azure one, is luckily quite calm, but Viria is jumping around, trying to fly, bumping into everything, and once almost got found out because of flying into the city! I mean, it is good to be lively when young, but she is going overboard! I hope the third one will make less problems. He sure seems like the rather calm type. Oh gosh, I am going to totally be a mom, that’s not good, I am not even engaged with a woman.
Well, the third one, I should describe her too. Her scales (She seems to be a female) are dark-blue, almost black, while having spots with different sizes, which are white or yellowish-white. It looks similar to a night’s sky. The wings are looking like the moon, while the claws are completely black. The teeth look like stars, while its eyes look like distant galaxies. Do I just get rare dragons, or what? Just look at them! Caelus looks like the sky himself, while Viria looks like a forest. The third one is a night’s sky or what? The subspecies names would probably be like ‘Heavenly Great Dragon’, ‘Forest Guardian Dragon’ and ‘Starlight Dragon’ if it goes towards cliché, like Sebastian, the butler. By the way, Caelus and Viria are able to talk telepathically to me now (I found out later about that) and are able to use beginner stage magic. Well, I should think about a name for the new one.
(Lupin) “Have you got any problem with the name Corona?”
[Corona shakes her head]
(Lupin) “Okay, as that is done now, Corona, will there come more dragons to this house?”
[Corona nods]
(Lupin) “Oh come on… Does fate want me to build a dragon army? Corona, do you know, how many more will come?”
[Corona draws 4 lines in the ground]
(Lupin) “Four more? How the heck should I accommodate 7 dragons… Well, this is going to be an annoying task in the short future. Is it possible, that there will be more dragons coming here than the ones you know?”
[Corona nods again]
Ugh… Well, let’s hope there won’t be more than 7 dragons altogether… Else, I really have no idea what to do.
School is beginning to be more interesting after the second month, although still easy. We learned about the secondary and tertiary affinities, but it would be too long to list them all up. We also learned about taming magic, which is a tertiary affinity, combined of Life, Soul and Neutral. My affinity for that one is five, and I should raise my Life affinity if I want to raise the taming affinity.
The teacher for all the magic stuff is Azusa, by the way. As I asked her, how to raise one’s affinity, she told me the following:
There are different possibilities. For example, you can raise it by using that kind of magic very excessive. It shouldn’t be that difficult for you to raise an affinity from 4 to 5 in a week, considering your magical values.
There is the more difficult way of using cores to, but you’d either kill the respective spirit and find its place, where its treasures are hidden, or get very close to it and ask or do something different. It then is quite probable, that it gives at least one of the cores to you. And, if you befriend one of them, they are also likely to help you in problematic situations or even fight along you. There are too some recorded marriages between humans and spirits.
There is a third possibility too, but that is a pretty difficult one, as you’d need to find a great amount of spirit herbs and an item that resembles the respective affinity. It is that difficult, because spirit herbs are only found in a forest in the east, and even there very rarely. To give you a piece of advice: If you get the chance, to take a spirit core of a tertiary affinity, you should choose that one over the other cores, because this core raises the affinities of all their affinity components too, but it is a very low chance to find one of them, even in the treasure hiding places of tertiary affinity spirits.
So, that’s basically it. Well, I know Silva and Sylphin, if I deepen our relationship, they probably give me one, but this situation is in the future. So either excessive use or randomly stumbling across a treasure place of a spirit. I wonder if there is some kind of sonar magic? ‘Eolas, Sonar’
Are you kidding? ‘Eolas, Radar’
Well, I asked my parents about caves near our house, but there is only one with bat-monsters, in the dungeon part, which are Rank-A. I got surprised, as I heard that there are dungeons in this world. They mostly are either hidden or it is too obvious, like not being able to see the forest for the trees. There surely are some dungeon guides, but they are far too thick.
As I got into that cave (my parents told me to be wary of the bats, but it is them whom I want to kill), I met again a species, which starts to annoy me. A dragon cub. It just jumped me from behind as I entered the cave. Yeah, I know they are cute, but still, I am not a dragon daddy! I still have to take care of them, I don’t want to see the wrath of dragons… In short, this one reminds me of the polar caps. Teeth and claws like icicles, wings and scales like ice, the eyes are like bluish water instead. Well, I don’t have a name for her yet. By the way, every time I go somewhere, except to school, ALL the dragons follow me everywhere.
Imagine those four dragons just following you everywhere while you have to take care of them! And they are not even behaving themselves! Caelum is chilling all the time, which is okay, but Viria jumps around everywhere, and Corona is more curious than the cats in an idiom. I hope that at least this little fellow is behaving better than Viria or Corona… Still, I need those bats for Sonar! I found out, that Sonar checks the underground too, while Radar just in your range of sight and not even below you. Well, if they get born with a higher level than 1, I don’t have to eat that much. I don’t know how they taste, so I want to eat as less bats as possible if their taste is horrible. I still got seasonings, so it might not be that bad.
(Lupin) “Viria, could you please stop jumping around everywhere!”
[Viria begins to trot slowly with lowered head besides me]
(Lupin) “Yeah, I know you like to do that, but just imagine you’d bump into a trap because of that. You can do that when we are out of the cave again.”
I still should think of a name for the newest fellow. Ice… ice… At first, I should still take care of my bat problem, I can think of that one later.

The dungeon was classified as a Rank-S, as it has some traps, many Rank-A and some Rank-S monsters. One of those Rank-A monsters I search for is the so-called Vampire Bat. Didn’t they have a better idea? Well, that is not that important. All I need to do is to find out how big they are, and what their innate level of sonar is.
[10 minutes later]
*pant, pant* They are just A-Ranks, but they are attacking in groups… that’s quite annoying. And they are double my size!
(Lupin) “You four okay?”
(Viria) └Graa!┐
[Caelum nods, the ice dragon too, while Corona inspects again some bigger gaps in the cave]
(Corona) └raa?┐
(Lupin) “Have you found something?”
[Corona doesn’t answer and enters the gap instead]
(Lupin) “Haaa… You three, stay by my side. We will follow Corona. I hope, she doesn’t activate any traps or runs into monsters…”
(Corona) └raa!┐
(Lupin) “Well, it doesn’t sound like she has any problems. I wish, we could talk telepathically…”

(Lupin) “Ok, we follow her now. Just watch out, that you won’t get stuck anywhere or activate traps, if there are any you can see.”

We entered the room where Corona is now, and it is probably some kind of tomb. It totally looks like new, there isn’t even any dust!
(Lupin)
(Corona)
(Lupin) just bathing in gold? Just? Bathing? In? Gold?>
(Corona)
If the gold is not protected by any means, then the really valuable things are at the centre of the protected area, the grave. It probably shouldn’t activate unless we open it. So, we should still be able to find out who was buried here.
As we were getting gradually near to the grave, the barrier didn’t activate. We were able to inspect the outside of it fully, but the only thing we have found was an inscription.
- One of the greatest friends of dragonkin died here. Only one worthy of his succession shall disturb the deceased one’s rest, else the wrath of dragonkin shall follow him –
I probably am a friend to dragonkin? Maybe? Well, I rather am a step-father to those four, so it should be all okay if I open it. Hopefully. The problem is: Do I need the stuff in there? I don’t know, if ancient gear or knowledge is worth more than the gear produced today. I don’t even know if this is ancient. But this grave is much taller than me, so whoever the dead one is, he/she is probably far bigger than I am. Can I even open it? Oh well, here goes nothing!
[Opens the box]
It was surprisingly easy, and I see… a human? He might be very big for a human, but not to an extent that I’d call him giant… probably double my size. He seemed to die happy, as he has a peaceful smile on his face, and again, he looks like he was just buried in here. How is this possible?

The dragon coins were the one above platin. 1000 platin are one dragon coin, so you can surely guess how much gold and jewellery there was. I wasn’t even sure if my item box could take that much, but there seemed to be no problem. It took us half a day to collect it all. I kind of want to keep the gold, if I create accessories out of them, I’d make much more money than if I’d just sell them. As for the corpse, I shortly put it inside of the item box, to find out how long he was dead. What I found out was, that he was dead for 287 years. 1 drop per hour would mean about 1900 litres. My whole life time wouldn’t be enough. I would even need more than a litre of tears!
So I put him back in the box after I took the gear and grimoires.
(Lupin) “Thank you, great friend of the dragonkin.”
(Caelum)
(Lupin)
In fact, we have spent another day down there just for collecting the divine herbs, trying to find hidden rooms [We even have found one, but in short: There was even more stuff than in the first room, but at least in a far smaller room, so collecting was easier.] and eating. No, we haven’t slept.
After all that, we got out of the cave, made it to Victimas house just by forcing ourselves, entered, and fell down to the floor, sleeping. Looks like my ability doesn’t work against exhaustion.
Victima was totally worried, first because I had four dragon cubs, second because I hadn’t met her for two days without telling her, and third, because we collapsed just as we entered the house.
It took us another day to wake up again, and Victima was even short on the verge of going to my house, as I woke up. Victima was as sad as on the day we first met, and totally behaved like then, except for her language.
(Victima) *cries and sobs while talking* “I thought you were ill or poisoned or something like that! I almost was desperate enough to go to your parents, but at least you have woken up! What happened to you? Why do you have those four dragon cubs with you? Why did you collapse and why didn’t you tell me that you will go away for some days?”
*knock, knock*
(Victima) “Eh? Should I open the door?”
I used the Sonar I shortly learned, I even ate enough to have it level 2 now, which is the bats innate level. So I found out that – guess what? – another dragon cub was before the door.
(Lupin) “Yes, please… This is totally annoying me.”
(Victima) “Uh… okay?”
It was again a female dragon cub, but she was already slightly taller than Caelum. She reminds me of a cherry tree, so I called her Sakura. She seemed to be quite happy with that.

Without MP regeneration I could have it nonstop active for almost 43 hours. Oh, right, I haven’t even checked my MP regeneration!
Uhm. Okay, so I’d need 6.3/sec, which probably means I can have it up for about 65 hours.
I wonder what other skills I’ll gain, so I’ll set it to ‘favour new skills’.
After that I’ve gone home, where two dragon cubs were waiting for me! Oh my god. Now it’s seven.
(Caelum)
One of them is male, the other one is female. The male one’s scales have a fiery pattern, with some black spots, and thus I named him Apollo. The female one’s scales were rather calming, silvery, with many different nuances, and I called her Artemis. Well, I try to get some names anywhere, so I hope they have no problems when I tell all of them that I decided their names upon their scales. Helios was a rather aggressive type, but at least you could talk with him. I almost feared to have taken a totally wrong name. Artemis didn’t like Caelum and had problems with Helios. The only male she seems to have a liking for seems to be me. Well, it would be more problematic if that wouldn’t be the case.
And nine more to go… in the case of minimum.

Davin Benjamin was posed a question that no one ever hopes to face. To be able to live a life with full mobility, or to be able to see his family, at least for a significant portion of time. Follow his journey, and watch him overcome struggles that many would stumble at. I took the picture used as the cover, though it was edited with Befunky, not that I paid for anything.

Kill the Harem
I was never a person who struggled with anything. Whatever I wanted to achieve, I achieved, except for finding a good reason for living. That was until I died. Perhaps it was karma, or perhaps it was some particularly sick god. I woke up in a world full of magic and encountered all these women who became romantically obsessed with me. It bears an uncanny resemblance to those garbage isekai series that I had the misfortune of reading in high school. The problem is, I loathe isekai. It got to the point where ever time I read about a busty elf-girl wanting to follow the protagonist, I wanted to throw something. It's illogical and it ruins the flow of the story. But now, I'm the one getting harassed by such illogical people? What complete and utter drivel. If any obsessive crazy person tries to make me theirs without even caring about my opinion, I'll f*cking kill them! I'll kill them all! I'm getting back home no matter what. My favorite manga hasn't finished yet and I want to read it to the end. Q&A Section Q: Is the protagonist mentally healthy? A: No, not even close. Q: Are all the female characters stupid? A: Barring extenuating circumstances, nobody rational would fall for a guy like the protagonist, so there's a bit of selection bias going on here. Q: Is this about a Gary Stu killing a bunch of irrational harem characters in a cliche isekai world? A: Go reread the title and the synopsis. Q: Do the women die because they won't sleep with the protagonist? A: No. I'm not sure where anyone got that from since it's entirely the opposite of what happens.

Shadow Falls
If you wanted to protect someone you loved, how far would you go, and what would you be willing to sacrifice? This question is at the core of this emotional rollercoaster of the book, Shadow Falls: the Rise and Fall of Erida VanIsle. This book emerged from four years of collaborative storytelling centering on the main character, Erida VanIsle, written by author Myra VanIsle. In this book, VanIsle goes beyond the events that led to Erida's sacrifice and explores forty-five years of the cost she paid to protect the sister she loved more than life itself. Shadow Falls explores the family tragedy which led to the separation of two sisters on completely different paths polar opposite of each other. While Erida set upon a path of darkness and power, Myra set out to be a beacon of light and hope bringing justice and peace to others. Be warned, the story VanIsle tells is dark and not easy, because you can't have the light without the dark.
