Chapter 7:
A few days then passed since that encounter with Nina’s Father. His words still stuck with me harder than anything so far. Throughout the time I was running I never had felt like I needed a sense of what was right or wrong, a sense of duty. All that was important was getting to the next day.
But now I felt that I had to at least keep true to what he said about me and I needed to convey his words to Nina. So I took out the phone they had given me.
And…
BANG BANG
“Prisoner Number 3715, Hayato Raiiki there is a request for you to speak over the phone. You have 10 seconds to be in front of the door before it is taken from you.”
“Yeah yeah I’m coming.” I stretched out and looked back, “I’ll continue once I come back from the call.”
Getting in front of the door I knock back, “I’m ready and it’s only been 6 seconds.” The doors heavy locks were unlocked and the guard straight away put a chain to my dampening cuffs. “You know that I can’t run anyway, lose the chain.”
As usual the guards were stern, he just pulled me along to the phone booth.
“You have 1 minute and no longer after you pick up the phone.” he proceeds to take off the chain and turn around.
I wonder who decided to call me, not like I have anyone. Not expecting much from one minute and no idea who it could be was didn’t help.
“Hello?”
“Hayato. It’s me Nina.” she spoke in a very quick manor. “Don’t worry we are making plans to get you out soon.”
“Nina, dear. Tell everyone to stop, I am fine. I will be out of here soon. So just hold on till then.”
“But but…”
“Don’t worry about me, just take care of everyone there.” I hung up the phone and went over to the guard.
Sticking out my cuffs to him, “I’m ready to head back.” Without another moment he slapped on the chain and took me to my cell.

I’m still looking for a singular person till I get to my cell.
The guard opened the door, “Get in.”
“Can you at least say please?” he began to draw his tazer. “I’m going, I’m going.”
Still no sign of what I’m looking for damn, and why the hell was I put with this mute guy in this cell. At least he listens to my story I guess, “You want me to keep going from where I left off?”
As expected he nods to me, I mean can’t blame him. Locked in this shitty cell with nothing to do but sleep and chat.
“And…”
And I looked through the phone, it was as she said, there was only one contact in it. Meaning it was most likely this so called Resistance of Power Bearers.
Not a second passed after dialing it and someone picked up, “Who is this, state your name and where is it that your acquired this number.”
“Name is Hayato Raiiki, I got this number from two of your members named Nina and Mari, I don’t know their last names.” Seemed like their security for this was quite uptight back then, or maybe just cause it was a random call.
“Information seems to check out, why are you calling us?”
“I wish to join the Resistance, I was offered but declined at first. Now I want to join if possible.” I am pretty sure I heard someone react very happily over the phone.
“What is your current location? If you tell me this then I can give you instructions on how to find us.”
“I am atop the construction site near the center of Tokyo.”
“Great then, I will walk you through how to find us. So start by getting down and walk south and then….”
Though her instructions were crystal clear, it was quite annoying to find the actual place. It was both far and hard to find. Making circles in certain areas to avoid following, making way through sewers and so much damn more.

But finally after multiple hours of walking around like an idiot, I finally arrived where she led me. To the bare eye it would seem like it was just a random forest.
The actual thing was finally revealed, the forest dissipated from vision, revealing a large entrance to an underground passage,
“Follow that entrance and welcome to the Resistance.”
I went down the passage, it seemed to have been covered by some kind of illusionary power. To be honest I felt bad for saying that they wouldn’t be able to protect me nor anything.
Their forces back then were actually quite formidable. But finally after a short walk through that tunnel I was greeted with a door. Not thinking twice I just opened it.
Then boom, there were a few people by the door with party poppers, less uptight than what I expected. Good thing I didn’t draw my weapons reflexively.
“Welcome to the Resistance.” A large hulking guy shook my hand first, he was Chris. Through he was built like a wall, he himself was a snowflake. “Nice to meet you as well.”
The rest of them stood back, some waved and most ignored me. Nina then came to me, “Glad you decided to actually join and thank you for saving me.” her warm smile reminded me of her father,
“Don’t mention it at all, where’s Mari I still need to give her back her dagger.”
Nina points back to Mari who was standing along the wall, looking away as we looked toward her. I smile and head over to her.
“Here you go.” I stick out her dagger back to her, “It helped me quite a bit.” Though she didn’t react. At that time I was just wondering ‘What did I do to get her mad?
I simply placed it onto the holster on the side of her hip, even though I wasn’t comfortable around women as I am today. So I turned back to Nina and the rest.
But as I walked back I felt a touch on my back, so many people liked grabbing my back for some reason. When I looked back it was Mari, she pushed the dagger back into my back, but was looking away, mostly hiding her face.
“Keep it better, it suits you.” I found this really cute of her, “Thank you then Mari” turning back smilingly I smiled, though she still refused to look at me.
Then I was back on track to see what Nina wanted.
“So is that all or is there someone else I should meet?” Nina began to walk off, “Follow me, you still need to meet the leader and the second in command.” I tailed behind her, “So what are they both like?”
“Hmm, well the Leader is not a power bearer and…” I had to cut her off there, “Wait what? A non Power Bearer is the leader?” I mean could you blame me back then. Who would expect such a thing at first. Though Nina seemed like she was used to this question already.
“Yeah it may seem strange but he is one person who understands us the most and understands our pain. Twenty years ago you remember that was when the meteor that created the first Power Bearers landed.”
It seemed like a simple question at first to me, didn’t really think about it before answering, “Yeah, back then Power Bearers were almost unstoppable until the Dampener was made.”
“Exactly and one of the head researchers is the person leading this Resistance. After some years of seeing the inhumane stuff that was being done to Power Bearers, he fled the government. I am pretty sure most people would do the same after seeing all the stuff he has.”
I couldn’t see my own expression but I was pretty shocked to hearing all this. A man that worked to stop the Power Bearers now turned over to their side.

Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder
I, Mick Chadwick, regret to inform my readers that this memoir contains nothing but the truth, which in the case of Tobias MacClain, most ridiculed as Pajama Boy, is far from pleasant. If you seek to relate to a hero more than to aspire to them and have the stomach for unpleasant things such as a hero left for dead, villainous scars, bomb threats, and murderous intent, then look no further. All of these gruesome things and more await from my research, and though I do not wish them on any man or woman, I cannot bear this burden on my own much longer. In the words of Tobias MacClain himself, "Sometimes, a villainous act can cause the greatest good." I hope that all my villainous acts of sneaking, blackmailing, diary-reading, and grave-digging, among others, will be redeemed as I present this complete and truthful memoir to the world, and with any luck, open eyes to the truth of what we call "villainy". Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder ********* MATURE FILTER IS FOR:- violence- graphic imagery (blood, burns, fairly dark headspaces)- cartoon depiction of burn scars for visual aid Despite graphics, Mick Chadwick's writing keeps Mr. MacClain's terrible tale light somehow. This is foremostly a comedy.
