《Tied to Infinity》Chapter 1

"I want to learn magic!" The being exclaimed.
The Arbiter was confused. A feeling It was most unused to. The being in front of It shouldn't be here. Nothing should be here except The Arbiter. That was how things had been since the dawn of creation. It needed more information on what was happening.
"CLARIFY YOURSELF." The Arbiter demanded.
The being flinched. Insomuch as a metaphysical blob of energy could flinch.
"Oof. You've got a voice on you, don't you." The being replied. "Felt like it might tear me apart there for a moment. Well, like I said, I want to learn magic. Powerful magic, preferably. Not one shot everything right off the bat powerful, but, you know. Eventually. I figure if I'm being Isekaid I'd at least throw that out there."
The Arbiter was still confused. There was no precedent for what was going on. It would have to just try to figure out what an Ee-Say-Kyd was on Its own. It reached out and sorted through the quadrillions of Universes that It was in charge of. Attempting to match the loss of energy from one Universe to the energy the being was currently made from. While The Arbiter searched the Universe for answers, the being kept talking.
"I also definitely like the idea of RPG logic. A system to keep track of stats and abilities or skills. Are you going to make me a baby again? Or just put me back the way I was when I died? I'd prefer that one, I guess. That way, I don't have to wait too long to start adventuring, you see. I hope I'm not being too demanding. I don't want to sound ungrate...."
The Arbiter ignored him as It zoned in on the planet of this creatures origins. Usually, The Arbiter left each Universe to evolve as naturally as possible. Its only real job was to monitor the Multiverse, making sure the rules of reality were enforced, and nothing caused the Multiverse to come to some horrific end. As such, It didn't tend to pay much attention to the minutiae of each Universes worlds or creatures. This particular world was an M-class planet, which allowed carbon-based life forms to evolve. It studied the planet quickly, looking to find the information It needed to solve the current issue it was experiencing. This Universe had an unusually tenuous connection to the energies which governed reality. This caused them to become overly reliant on the physical aspects of their Universe. They differentiated these as Magic and Science. So that's what the being meant by learning Magic. He wanted to wield metaphysical abilities.

The Arbiter kept researching. The beings species called themselves Humans. The planet was called Earth. They had flight, space travel, and had split the atom. All without any metaphysical connections. They were a very capable, species. Unfortunately, they were also a self-destructive species. They probably wouldn't last long at the rate they were going. Sad really, but death is the fate of all biologicals. Finally though, The Arbiter managed to find what It was looking for.
Isekai
A fantasy genre where a person from Earth is transported to, reborn, or trapped in a parallel universe or fantasy world.
This Human thought The Arbiter was going to send him to another world. One where he could learn to use metaphysical abilities and go on adventures. The Arbiter had never heard of anything so ridiculous. The humans' whole purpose was to help run the Multiverse, by spending a short amount of time in one Universe. Then it was to pass its energy on to another after its biological body ceased functioning. There was no reason that the human should even be capable of remembering its time as a biological creature. Much less have wants or desires now that it had reverted to its form of origin. And how did it get to The Arbiters section of Infinity? Still too many questions and no answers to be had.
Suddenly The Arbiter Realized that the human had not been speaking for a couple minutes. Returning Its attention to the human It sighed.
"I MUST THINK." The human shivered as The Arbiters voice passed through him.
The Arbiter knew It had to find some answers and that to do so, It would have to contact Its higher-ups. It would have to pass this issue up The Line of Infinity. Then again... It had never had to do that, so It had no idea how to do that. This was giving the Arbiter the first headache It had ever had. Quite the accomplishment since It didn't have a head. Thinking it over and over, The Arbiter came up with a plan. One that should satisfy the human, those up The Line of Infinity, and definitely Itself as it would get rid of the human and The Arbiter could get back to Its own work. Reaching out, it scanned the Multiverse once more, finding a few Universes that had a much stronger and more stable connection to realities energies. It picked one of the Universes at random. They all had what the human seemed to want. Then, so It wouldn't lose the human, It linked their energies together.

"Whoa! What was that?!" The human had felt the connection The Arbiter had made. Good. Now It could always find the human by tracking that link. That way, when the Creators of Infinity had made their decision, It could pull that link and drag the human back here.
"GOODBYE, HUMAN." The Arbiter manipulated the link and launched the human through the space between spaces and into the chosen Universe. It then let out a large burst of energy that It thought should get the attention of Its higher-ups. As It settled back down and began to monitor the fluctuations of the multiverses energies again, It thought back to something from the humans' Universe. Reaching into that Universe once more, it pulled out something that had caught Its attention earlier. It was layers upon layers of compressed fibers covered in a substance made of numerous liquids that dried to create semi-permanent lines. The humans called it a book. The book had caught Its attention, as it had a question written across the front that The Arbiter thought was quite intriguing. Opening the book, It hoped to find out, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

Mage Among Superheroes
Turlough is a mage. He also happens to be an orc, generally lauded as being less intelligent than humans. He was unfortunately born with the Curse of the Barbarian, meaning that he can’t level up except through combat- which greatly hinders his ability to show he can be a proper mage. In a world with necromancers, dragons, invading armies, and all sorts of other monsters he would still be able to advance quickly, but unfortuantely… that world is not his world. An unprecedented peace reigns across the land, and in the last several decades there’s been little use for people capable of fighting- and thus little reason for people to fight him. So when he sees a portal in his master’s study he takes it, hoping to find a horde of demons or something equally foolish to combat at low level. But instead he ends up in a strange city full of skyscrapers and people running around in colorful outfits. Superheroes- and of course supervillains as well. What dangers and opportunities could await him in such a strange and unfamiliar world? Only time will tell. Inspired by many things in the superhero genre, and Super Minion specifically- though while the setting will share some standard elements, it is an original setting that will hopefully be as engaging as many of the other universes. Schedule: One chapter each Monday/Thursday, approx. 2000 words.
