Prologue : A teenage Hobo
A hooded figure carrying a backpack —whose face was hidden by long , unkempt, wavy blonde hair —was running through the slums of the city. His green eyes looked towards his Casio wristwatch on his left arm.
The watch was the only valuable item he had after spending his funds, he had bought it as a gift for his own birthday. It was well worth the money as it had a built in thermometer and compass while also being waterproof.
I’m going to be late!
In order to avoid such a situation he decided to take a shortcut through the back alleys. He ran towards a fence and hopped over it and nimbly landed on the empty plot of land on the other side.
He stopped.
“Oh it’s that pretty boy!” said a man who seemed like a common gang-member
These guys huh
He sighed and rubbed his right bruised eye, recalling that it was this group of delinquents who had caused his injury. If not for his drunk of a father intervening he would have come out a lot worse.
“H-Hey guys…...um I need to go to school, so if you could just.”
“Ahahahahahahaha!” laughed a goon holding a bat.
“Where’s your old-man kid?” asked a man with a scrawny body who seemed like a crackhead.
8 men began to encircle him.
The young teen looked around at his situation with an awkward smile and noticed a Rusted Steel pipe on the ground. Using his foot he kicked the pipe up and grabbed it with his right hand and took a stance that his father had engraved into him.
He remembered the only times when his father wasn’t drunk was when he was teaching him swordsmanship. Since the age of six he spent most of his days training under his father’s tutelage. Why he had to learn swordsmanship in the modern era baffled him but his father was an absolute authority.

It was a year ago at the age of 15 when his father had told him that he had taught him everything he knew. A useless skill but it kept his body fit so he kept training diligently and he was able to deal with most people. Still it was hard not to get injured when you had multiple enemies. Yesterday it had been a group double the size than the current one around him. He assumed the others were still in the hospital. The ones in front of him had gotten off with lighter injuries it seemed.
The blond teenager sighed again” I don’t have time for this.”
As soon as he had finished his sentence he had moved forward and swung the pipe like a golf club hitting the closest gang-banger on the chin leaving the goon concussed. Using this as a distraction he moved forward and like a ballerina dancer on the stage he weaved his way through his enemies until he heard a large bang.
Near the Gate fence of the empty lot stood a man holding a small caliber handgun. The man smiled and said” Don’t fucking move you little shit.” while aiming the gun at the teen.
The teen was fast if not the fastest in his entire school but dodging a bullet was not something he was confident of succeeding in. He put his arms up in surrender and started thinking of a way to escape his predicament.
He slowly turned to face the man with the gun.
“Hey guys, I am sorry about what happened yesterday but let’s not get carried away yeah?”
The man smirked and was then suddenly tackled by a dark shadow. The man dropped his gun and struggled with the tackler and finally grabbed a short black teen’s dreadlocks and pulled his head back.
The black teen grunted.
“Nikey!” screamed the hooded teen. while moving towards to help but before he could do anything the thug with a gun was suddenly punched by a seven foot giant of a man with a slight hunch. He stood there awkwardly with both his feet pointed towards each other.

The black teen sighed and said” thanks Uli you saved my ass.” to the large man.
The hooded teen took off his hood and approached the duo.
“Thanks for the help guys but we should.” he turned towards the thugs “ um yeah we should go. Like now!”
The three of them ran away from the group of delinquents. It took them a couple minutes to ditch the thugs and they stopped to catch their breaths.
“You owe us own Elden.” said Nikey as he smiled.
“Yeah, It’s been awhile guys. I’ll buy you a coke or something one of these days.”
Nikey and Ulises had been his friend from the neighborhood. They were classmates in elementary and middle school until Elden decided to attend a better school farther from the slums.
“We’d be honored , your majesty,” Nikey said while an exaggerated bow.
Elden frowned. They always teased him like that. Calling him a prince or your majesty simply because he was good-looking for a kid from the slums. The girls in school had coined the term for him due to his green eyes, long blonde hair and Handsome face. The name had stuck even if he hated it.
“ Fuck dude, we’re in High school already. Please stop it with that.”
Nikey shrugged and smiled.
“You know Elden we could hang out later.”
Elden looked at his wrist watch
“Oh shit! I’m gonna be late. Sorry I gotta go guys.” Elden ran waved goodbye while his friends stood there remembering old times.
He made it to class a minute before the bell rang. As he entered the classroom his eyes met with a youth with short cropped black hair.
Isaac is here today huh. What a pain.
Isaac was the local school bully. Rumors said he was the son of some big gangster and Elden thought it was highly probable that those thugs were sent by Isaac to punish him. Elden wasn’t one to start fights but if pushed he’d push back. This attitude caused him to be at odds with Isaac since freshmen year.
Taking a seat at his desk Elden turned to his desk neighbor.
“ Hey Mike.”
His desk mate turn away from the hand-held console he was playing.
“Yo~ Eld.”
Michael had a big head with short dirty blonde hair. His face littered with blemishes and acne scars. His clothes were too big on him and were unfashionable and even his shoes were screaming loser. No matter how you saw it he wasn’t “cool” but Michael was Elden’s first friend in high school. The reason Isaac hated Elden was because Elden had protected Michael from bullying. All it took was a few punches for the bullies to back-off but because of this Elden was avoided by his classmates for being friends with the loser Michael.
Still Elden valued his first friend. Thanks to Michael he was introduced to a world of videogames and movies and anime and manga not to mention Elden sometimes borrowed Michael’s bathroom to take a shower.
“ a bit late no?” said a short brown indian youth with thick eyebrows.
“Hey Ganesh and well I had a bump on the road.”
It was a curious sight. Elden was tall, blonde and handsome. A natural popular teen who belonged to a different crowd. Yet he sat next to the uncool kids and even laughed occasionally. A pity thought some of the girls and guys. Some thinking Elden was just really nice.
Although their group was loud ,the loudest was the ‘cool’ crowd sitting at the back.
Leading the conversation was Paul. Athletic and good looking he was the exact image of a model from Aéropostale.
“Alright settle down class!” Said Mr.Olsen their Homeroom teacher. He seemed just about ready to retire at the age of 50.
The class chatter dialed down.
“I have a couple of announcements. Today you’ll…”
“Be summoned to save our world!”
and a flash of light blinded everyone after hearing those last words.
