Chapter 004 - A Willy?

[Robot]: “Player Cyan wish something to drink?”

[Cyan]: “ah… yes”

The robot took out a water bottle from inside his body and gave it to Cyan, definitely, this robot surpassed anything Cyan knew about current world technology.

After that, the robot started to give him some casual information that all Players should know like a pre-recorded message.

[Robot]: “Please remember to dispose of all your trash in the trash can, if you don’t comply a penalty in Credits will be issued depending on the degree of the offense, fighting other Players outside the [PVP Area] is strictly forbidden under any circumstance and the penalty for killing another Player would be the expulsion of the Player from the [Training Tower] and the person removal as a Player. If you need to use the bathroom there is one inside your room. The [Food Area] is open at all hours and food can be bought using Player concurrency known as Credits, all Players can see how many Credits they have in their possession by checking the already installed [Midas App] in their [phone], trading with other Players can be done using your [phone], Players that had lost or destroy their [phone] will be charged with a 10.000 Credits penalty and a new [phone] will be given, Player Cyan is advice to keep his [phone] in a secure place, Players are too train while staying inside the [Training Tower]…etc, do you have any question or you need to hear this information again…”

After the very long explanation the robot keeps standing in front of Cyan waiting for his next command, Cyan, on the other hand, was going through all the information he just got in his head.

[Cyan]: “That… can you tell that me again?”

The robot repeated everything he had just said without a hint impatience or annoyance that a human being would normally have after having to repeat the same exact information again.

[Cyan]: “Is there anything like an instruction manual that I can read later on?”

Even though the robot has repeated himself several times already Cyan could not make sense of what it was talking about, Players, Credits, Stats, Free Points, Food, Training, Hobbies, PVP, Inventory, etc.… the wide range of information was overwhelming to the teenage boy that had just teleported to the [Lobby Area] just a short minute ago.

In the other hand for Cyan not to shown any aggressive behavior or not suffering from panic attacks after arriving here was a good sign under the wheel robot result analysis, after all when [Midas] had just started one week ago and Players started arriving they panic the hell out and attacked the Training Robots series 1 or TR for short, he, on the other hand, was a new version of the Assistant Robot series 2 or AR series, and so far the results were very positive increasing the probability that he wouldn’t be recycled and repurposed so he keeps working for more cycles under the guide of his auto preservation program.

[Robot]: “You can check this and all information in the [Midas App] under Help/FAQ section, or you can ask your assigned [Assistant Robot] at any giving time if you have any question.”

[Cyan]: “My assigned what?”

[Robot]: “After a reevaluation [Midas] has concluded that the probability of Player losing their composure and act violently is drastically reduce if they are guided from arrival by another Player, [Player Assistant Robot] protocol was created with that as the basis, with the purpose to guide Players training and to answer any and all question about the [Training Tower] program, in conclusion [Assistant Robot] #105 was assigned to Player Cyan during the duration of his stay in the [Training Tower]”

[Cyan]: “Then [Assistant Robot] #105 that’s way too long, it is okay if I give you another name?”

[Robot]: “Player Cyan has the authority to change the name of his assigned robot, please indicate new name”

Cyan realized he had now a problem in his hands after all his naming sense was terrible.

[Cyan]: “Then what should I call you? You are short, then Shortbot?”

[Robot]: “…Deny”

Even though a robot should not have feelings and he wouldn’t care about his name Cyan felt the stare of the robot was getting very cold”

[Cyan]: “I wasn’t aware that robots were mindful of their height… then let’s see you move around in one wheel, Wheelbot?... WheelShort… Wheelly… how about Willy?”

[Willy]: “Renaming process successful [Assistant Robot] #105 name is now [Willy]”

Just as Willy changed his named Cyan cellphone vibrated indicated he just received a new message.

Message(Midas): “Player Cyan is awarded 1.000 Credits by being the first Player to discover a hidden feature [Renaming a Robot]”

At the same time, everyone in the [Training Tower] also got the same message.

However Cyan found this message to be strange.

[Cyan]: “Hey Willy how come I can be the first Player to discover such easy to find hidden feature, naming your pet robot is something every human would do right? Aren’t millions of Players transported already to the [Training Tower]? Now that I think about it where everyone else is?”

Willy was a little kind of happy of his new name as he was moving back and forward as if trying to dance, but when he heard the question of Player Cyan he stopped his [dancing] routine and went back to his [normal] routine.

[Willy]: “The [Player Assistant Robot] protocol for Players was implemented since 4 hours ago, older Players wouldn’t be assigned one, as such Player Cyan is the 13.125 Player to be assigned an AR series 2, of those there are 5.159 Players that have found the hidden feature and none of those are from [Training Tower] #1, as such Player Cyan is the first Player to find this hidden feature in this [Training Tower] and it had been awarded 1.000 Credits.

[Willy]: “As for the rest of the Players there are more than just one [Training Tower] and every [Training Tower] is slightly different and with different number of Players, Player Cyan should focus in training instead of worrying about the existence of other [Training Tower]’s”.

For a second Cyan feel Willy was nagging he to start training as soon as possible just like his future self has told him to do, however, there was something still in his mind.

Cyan ignore this nagging feeling he was getting from Willy and asked another question.

[Cyan]: “Willi you said the AR protocol started this morning and older Players would not get one AR assigned to them why that is?”

[Willy]: “A balancing System was put in place by [Midas], Players that had being training for 1 week in the [Training Tower] have an overwhelming advantage over new Players, to balance this out previous Player would not get an AR assigned to them”

Cyan could only think of this as fair right? Not that it matters much to him anyway, but made being aware that [Midas] was balancing things out should be pretty important from now on.

[Cyan]: “Willy what is [Midas]?”

[Willy]: “[Midas] is the computer that controls and runs all [Training Tower]”

[Cyan]: “And the purpose of [Midas] is?”

[Willy]: “[Midas] purpose is to created and help Players reach their top potential, balance resources, punish harmful Player behavior while encouraging positive behavior and improve cooperation between Players”.

[Cyan]: “Willy Who create [Midas]?”

[Willy]: “Access restricted, Player Cyan has no enough privileges”

[Cyan]: “Willy Who controls [Midas]?”

[Willy]: “Access restricted, Player Cyan has no enough privileges”

[Cyan]: “Then Willy why [Midas] needs Players for?”

[Willy]: “Access restricted, Player Cyan has no enough privileges”

[Cyan]: “It seems getting more answers will tough, but that doesn’t mean there are no answers at least, then Willy how can I increment my privileges?”

[Willy]: “Player Cyan is advice to start his training”

[Cyan]: “Wait Willy is there any map of this tower?”

[Willy]: “Affirmative, [Map] function is available in the [Midas App]”

[Cyan]: “Oh right I haven’t opened the app yet”

Cyan took out his phone and opened the [app]

He was going to tap on his status first but the red like notification in [Quest] made him he tap it there instead.

[Quest]:

[1] Do 10 pushes against the floor, in 10 minutes (time remaining 5:13 minutes)

[2] Lock (unlocks after complementing the previous task)

[Cyan]: “It would be bad if I don’t do this first right?”

Cyan then tapped into [Map]

Floor 2: Dorms Area (74/1000)

Floor 3: Food Area (0/1000)

Floor 4: Rest Area (10/1000)

Floor 5: Track Area (10/100)

[Cyan]: “Willy is there any problem if I use the [Rest Area] to train?”

[Willy]: “Negative, Player Cyan can train in any floor even though each floor has a serves a purpose Player Cyan is free to train as he please on then”

Cyan was hesitating to go and train in the [Rest Area] because as its name implies it should a place where a Player would be resting and not training, however, the future he recommendation was to go there first.

For now Cyan opted to move into the [Rest Area] to do first and do the quest there, he didn’t lose his way as he only asks Willy to led him to the elevator and push a button and in an instant, he was there.

When Cyan entered the area his phone vibrated however he didn’t pay any attention to it, as he was feeling like he had entered another world, all of his tiredness and sore spots were gone in an instant even those the ones he didn’t even know he had, he felt his body being massaged all over the place and that by just breathing the air his lungs were being cleansed from inside out of all the dirt the modern world has and that it has been accumulating inside him, it was definitely a wonderful feeling, Cyan could guess now why he sent here, training here will be way easier than other places.

[Willy]: “Player Cyan you have new unread messages”

[Cyan]: “Willy you don’t need to call me like that just call me Cyan”

[Willy]: “Understood Cyan”

Willy reminded him that he got a few new messages, after checking his phone he could understand from where that wonderful feeling was coming from.

Message [Midas]: “Buff applied, 25% Stamina Regeneration, Player will recover his stamina faster”

Message [Midas]: “Buff applied, 50% Satiation, Player will feel less hunger”

Message [Midas]: “Buff applied, Cleansing Air, Every time Player takes a breath it will cleanse his body from impurities”

Message [Midas]: “Buff applied, Cleansing Mind, Player Mind will regain his focus and it will have a better concentration”

Message [Midas]: “Buff applied, Cleansing Body, Player Body potential will stimulate”

Message [Midas]: “Buff applied….”

There were so many buffs, even one that makes you go less to the bathroom while you were inside the [Rest Area], Cyan wanted to call this more like a restoration area because he felt like he was being restored to top condition.

Sadly all the buff have a 4 hours duration period and a cooldown of 20 hours meaning you could only enter once a day for 4 hours, and of course the buff only applied when you were inside the area, exiting the area would cancel the buff before their expiration time, so going in and out would be a total waste if you didn’t stay 4 hours inside.

Cyan almost forgot why he has come here if not for the timely reminder of Willy.

[Willy]: “Player Cyan is advised to start training as soon as possible”
