《New to Magic》Prologue

Prologue
This story all starts in an alternate reality in the distant future where space travel is a daily occurrence. Magic became the dominant power source after all the non-renewable fossil fuel sources were used up. With more and more people being educated in magic and starting to believe, thus started a magical renaissance. The masses found themselves able to learn and manipulate it. Humanity began to expand through space with the now more flexible power source. They began to colonize and explore space in all directions. During the humans, expansion through space, they encountered various races of humanoid beings. Elves, giants, trolls, fairies, and other strange beings were themselves spreading through the stars.
Ninety-eight percent of all races had learned how to wield one or more of the five elemental affinities. Humans were the most advanced in the magic arts and so the dominant lifeforms in general. The human mages were born gifted with three elemental affinities more often than any other race. On top of that, their magic wells (the amount of magic power they could store within themselves), were also far greater in size.
Some humans in their arrogance of the power they held tried to subjugate the other races after many magic battles and wars humanity established themselves as the dominant race of magic users. They managed to use their superior power to be the ruling force to all the races in known space. Thus, starting the Imperial Order to control all the know space. Only after hundreds of years the different races started to work together and co-existed to a point. If small skirmishes broke out between two races regardless of who, the Imperial Order would step in. Peace was always forced between any fighting factions by the human ran Empire.
Only after hundreds of years, humans started to accept co-existing with different races of beings. It happened only after finding they could procreate with most of the other species. Much like they did their races of colour from the past and truly became multi-cultured. The human hybrids usually kept some of the dominant traits of both parents and furthered interspecies relationships. Many of the influential politicians considered themselves puritans and refused to co-habituate with any of the other races. Unfortunately, many of these humans were powerful mages who held high places in the Imperial Order. Still, it was becoming less of an issue for other races to hold office in the new stronger Imperial Order. For hundreds of years, they had an easy time overpowering the other races with their stronger and more abundance of magic.

The human dominant Imperial Order ruled supreme, that is until they encountered the Titans. During explorations after crossing a vast expanse of space they explore further into another universe they called Unknown Space. They found a race of colossal giants, standing between sixty to seventy plus meters tall (197- 240 ft.). Their weight almost doubles that of your average size ratio to that of a human being. Their skin is tougher than any plate steel found on old Earth. The fact that they were found to be one of the two races known to hold no magic was insignificant because they were the embodiment of magic. For their size, weight, and skin density they were stronger and could move much faster than one would imagine. The ships that made the voyage were escorted back into the Imperial Order space, and a few Titans joined them to start diplomatic talks before being granted access to Titan occupied space, aka Unknown Space.
It was during this time rumours of some elite mages tried to subjugate a few Titans co-existing on a large planet. That is when they found out about the Titan’s ability to nullify magic. Both sides found after the magical attacks that Titans could nullify magical power around them. Most magical attacks didn’t even tickle their skin before fizzling to nothing. The Titans once attacked found a reason to retaliate against the puny human mages. These few Titans thought they should be the gods of the Imperial Order. Thus, started the five-year Mage War. These different series of events leads to where this story truly begins.

A Fragmented Mind
"Hi there. My name is Richard Maddox, but my — admittedly nonexistent — friends call me Rick. I live in a world of superheroes and villains. A world filled with magic and physics-defying powers, and in this world, I'm just an ordinary, completely average 17-year-old boy. My imaginary friends, however, are as far from average as you get. You think you're good at deluding yourself? Well, stand back, because it's time for a master to show you his craft. Welcome to my life, the life of a madman." This story was originally inspired by the 'Legion' novella series written by Brandon Sanderson. If you've read those books and liked them, it might be worth giving this a read. The same goes if you haven't read them either, I guess. (Currently re-writing earlier chapters)
