《The Fate of The Summoned (being ReWritten)》Interlude: Story of the Past (Part One)

In his cell Victor sat up on the table he was usually strapped to. He faced the person who had awoken him, his only visitor really. Though they were cloaked in shadows, he knew who they were, or who they might be, that’s why he called them by that nickname when she last visited him. Once, long ago, before his argument with his father and the incident that lead to that, he had helped a girl. At the time she was but a classmate of his, she went by the name Naomi Fujiwara. He had been walking to the place he was staying, when he saw her get attacked by several masked men.
Being the protector he was, he saved her, though afterwards they did not see each other much, because she moved several months after the incident. During the time she was there though, they became close. They remained friends, close friends, but still friends. It was at that time that she picked up her training in the martial arts. Afterwards she would constantly try to sneak attack him, regardless of where he was. It was because of her tendency to do this that he teasingly called her his little ninja, or Kunoichi.
He looked over the shadowy figure and spoke. “Do you really want to hear my full story? If I tell you, you will no longer be safe here. They are already after you because you discovered me, but if I tell you, they will know and you will be targeted even more than you are now. What I will tell you is a secret of sorts, it involves betrayal and the breaking of bonds, are you sure you want to hear my story?” The figure stilled momentarily in thought, before she gave a dainty nod, indicating her assent and agreement.
Victor gave a sigh and started to speak. “When I first came here 3 years ago, I was panicky; I mean who wouldn’t panic after discovering they were summoned to another world. I calmed down after a week or so, when they showed me the results of the Dungeon Overflow. That was the threat at the time; the dungeons were releasing monumental amounts of monsters. At the time I was pretty much the only person summoned in several centuries. Due to certain factors, several gods came together for the purpose of summoning me. It was all planned by Tamara, the Goddess of Light, though everyone but her most devoted were unaware at the time.

Unlike how it is now, with there being only one dungeon, at that time there were several dungeons, of various types. Most Kingdoms only have a single type of dungeon, such as beast or slime, or undead, but the Kingdom of Light has all those types and more. The reason why this is more dangerous is because different types of dungeons grow differently and require different things to fight against. The variety of foes proved difficult for the forces of the Kingdom of Light to fight against. It was for this reason that I was summoned, well one of the reasons.
Anyways, I trained for a while, both with the head of the Knights at the time and the Archmage who helped the Kingdom on occasion. After a few months I started fighting in actual combat, against both the Dungeon monster Hordes and the Bandits. That took me a while to get used to the combat; I was mostly used to protecting others, not being the one who attacked. The ability granted to me upon my arrival certainly helped though, especially against the aggressive bandit and unreasonable monsters. With the help of the First Princess, at the time she led the armed forces of the Kingdom, I learned to cope.
Due to that and the circumstances forcing us to work together, we became friends, well as much as similar aged people of the opposite gender can be anyways. Though the forest around the Capital of the Kingdom Of Light was home to many monster Warrens, there were no true dungeons there. The dungeons were mostly beyond the Forest, or located underground in tombs or caverns. The dungeons varied in strength, from Greentooth Cavern, which was once a Goblin stronghold and generally had weak monsters, to the Whispering Abyss, which housed untold horrors and dangerous threats, including but not limited to demons.
Demonic Dungeons were a rarity then, as most Demons do not like being tethered to one area. Enough about that though, the first Dungeon we went to was Greentooth Cavern. Once long ago it was a Stronghold of the Goblin King, though he was killed centuries ago, by the first Chosen. Though it had been considered one of the weakest Dungeons, whatever caused the Overflow changed the goblins, not only were they more numerous than normal, but there were more Variants, or stronger monster evolutions. This coupled with their already natural superior numbers and reproductive abilities made them one of the foremost threats.

The reason why that dungeon was targeted first, aside from the threat it presented, was because it was relatively small and unlike the other dungeons it was almost entirely mapped out. The first several levels went smoothly with me being the vanguard. See most monsters are inherently aggressive, they can’t help it, this coupled with the ability granted to me made things easy. We did not realize it at the time, but there was a reason it was too easy. When we finally reached the end, where the Stronghold was located, we were ambushed.
The Princess and I, were the only ones who were captured, the others were pushed back, though not without casualties. Neither mine, nor the Princess’s abilities worked, the ruler of the Dungeon was a sort of Shaman Variant. Whatever Dark God he drew his power from let him not only block the blessings of most Gods, but to take them for itself or its servants. The two of us were kept separate, probably so we could not plan an escape together. I don’t know how long we were down there, but after some time had passed, we were given a chance to escape.
It happened when we were taken out for some sort of ritual, probably the one that let him steal the Blessings. They had just strung Tara up, when the Shaman started groping her. She struggled to no avail, it delighted the shaman who laughed, it was at this time that she spit in his face. The Shaman raged in anger and smacked her, he was about to plunge a dagger into her when I felt it. The anger and aggression he and the other Goblins felt made me strong, filled me with power, whatever had been stopping my abilities was broken, probably due to the sheer power flowing through me at the time. What followed as a massacre, simply put, all the Goblins were killed and afterwards the Dungeon was sealed to prevent such a thing from happening again.
We became closer due to that, though not to the point of lovers. Afterwards, it became an open secret that she had feelings of sorts for me, though I did not reciprocate them, not quite anyways. Regardless, her feelings for me became a problem for certain members of the Court, as well as other beings. Normally it would not be a problem, as traditionally the Eldest prince or Princess would marry the most powerful of the Chosen. However Tara had renounced her claim to nobility and was a Princess in name only. It was at that time, that things started to change, and not all for the better.

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
