I am now 3 years old. My arm healed after 3 days and I now have confirmed that my body heals faster than normal. The mystery of the metal door was solved, behind the door was my caretaker’s equipment and some gold coins.

The woman bought me some books and she started teaching me their language. I am fortunate since “total recall” gives me perfect memory and half of this language looks a lot like german, and I seem to remember the german I studied in school.

My name in this world was Alexander Lowe. It seems that the man’s last name was Lowe, if I remember correctly it lowe means lion. So I guess I’m the son of a lion.

“Huh?” A forehead flick woke me up form my daydreaming.

“I know it’s hard, but we must continue studying.”

Oh yeah I was in the middle of studying the advanced part of this language.

“Don’t forget, when you address someone older or more experienced than you, you must use the long version of the words even if they are harder to pronounce.”

“Where is Kraft?”

“Your father should be back soon, I’m starting to think you care about him more than you care about me.”

“I just haven’t seen him in a while.”

“I know what you mean, he went on that expedition and hasn’t been back for two weeks.”

“Neah I think you just want to fuck him, after all you did it every night for the past 3 years.”

“We don’t do it every day! Anyway where did you even learn words like this?”

“In the room where you keep your equipment, there is a wooden chest near the wooden human thing...”

“Mannequin, it’s called a mannequin.”

“Mannequin.”

“Yes, that was the correct pronunciation. Now I we shall talk about forming phrases.”

Her voice became harsher and I think that if I were to run I would most likely be the prey of the lion.

“Why are you speaking like that, is it something I said?”

“It’s nothing.”

“That is a lie. I’m sorry about what I said. I will show you where he keeps the book maybe that will be better.”

“When you are 5 years old I will tell you a story and then you will understand. Just for future reference, were we really loud?”

In case somebody was curious her name was Ellen, it sounds pretty normal but in this country this seems to be rare. I still don’t know anything about this world apart from the language and naming patterns.

Me and Ellen went downstairs into the armoury. Kraft had 2 sets of armour, one given by the country for when he has official business and the second one is custom-made and fucking bad-ass, something like the Madness Armour from Oblivion. He uses only two handed swords so the swords he has are huge. Ellen on the other hand used chain mail armour and black robes, as for weapons there are two daggers and a staff. Now that I think about it I still don’t know what is or was her job.

“This room is as dark as usual.”

“Me and your father put our equipment in the same place every time we don’t use it so we can grab it if there is an emergency plus there is enough light coming from the hallway.”

“Well, there was enough light in this room for me to read that book.”

“So, about that book, where is it?”

I went in the back of the room, opened the chest and I took the book out of the chest, gracefully presenting her the book.

“This is the book I was talking about.”

A smile appeared on her face and after a few moments she began laughing.

“HAHAHA, You know, *cough*, that book is actually mine, hahahah.”

“What is so funny about this?”

After a few minutes of laughing she took a few deep breaths and began explaining.

“Before working as a guard for this village your father was an adventurer. I met him when I was 20 years old in Dykon city...”

What the fuck is this? This is the first time I hear about this. I want answers dammit.

“WAIT!, This village?, Adventurers?, 20 years old?, Dykon city?, There are more things I don’t know about than I thought. Can I get some explanations here, I don’t understand anything.”

 “It’s understandable that you don’t remember, you were asleep when we brought you here. When we are done with the advanced language lessons I will tell you all I know about these lands, but not now.”

“So when are you going to tell me about you and Kraft’s...”

“Past? Is that the word you are looking for?”

“This is hard.”

“I started teaching you how to speak, read and write three months ago and the only words you don’t know are the ones I never used when I was with you. This is something other people learn when they are 6 years old in school and yet here I am talking to you. By the time you reach the age of 5 I am confident that you will have a better vocabulary than any kid who took private lessons. Don’t worry I’m going to teach you a lot of things and if you try I’m sure you will become a Great Scholar.”

“That was an interesting motivational speech but right now I’m more interested about the story behind that book and your life before you met me.”

“Listen Alex, there is a time and a place for everything but not now. Rest assured, when the time comes you are going to listen to my stories whether you want to or not. Now how about we finish studying formal language for today and then eat some chicken soup.”

I couldn’t help but smile. I learnt from my past life that people like these know more than they let out and if they want to teach you it’s always better to accept without a second thought.
