Lin Ning was sitting by her window, thinking about how things were well off for the night with her parents once again talking to one another with sweet words. Not only that, but she still had to talk to Cao Peizhi if she could get the chance. If he decided to come as Wei then she would still try to tell him about it. “Sister Ning.” Hearing that voice tone, it was obvious that he had changed it again to make it seem like he was Wei.
“Brother Wei, how have you been?” Lin Ning heard her window open, he had opened the window and sat down at the window stool while looking at her. Both held a smile towards one another, letting the silence remain in front of one another for some time.
“I’ve been well. How about you? Have you been taking care of yourself?” Cao Peizhi (Wei) did not know how much longer he could keep up with this identity, but it made him feel happy that he was not treated any differently.
“En, my parents are both fine as well. I was hoping that I would get to see you.” Lin Ning hugged her knees close to her chest, taking a breath and then leaning her back against the window frame.
“Oh, what did you want to see me for?” Cao Peizhi had brought his face closer to Lin Ning who could feel his hot breath move past her ear.
‘What is this man thinking?!’ Lin Ning did not think that there would be such a man who would have such confidence to get this close to her. “Um… I wanted to see if I could meet Brother Pei.” Hoping that it did not bring his hopes down since she was looking for another person when they were both the same people.

“Am I a messenger between you both?” He asked, thinking to see how she could just say that she wanted to meet his other identity when he already showed up as Wei.
“No, I didn't mean to offend you or anything. Its just that…” Lin Ning did not want to make it seem more offensive if it was going to involve his arm.
“Its just what?” Cao Peizhi did not know what Lin Ning was going to tell him.
“I don’t want to be mean!” Lin Ning turned away, she did not want to be seen as if she wanted to make him look like a laughingstock.
“I am sure that he will not be offended. Whatever you tell him, it will not be offensive.” Cao Peizhi (Wei) knew that he could never get offended by her.
“I wanted to help him with his arm. I may not be a physician, but I want to be able to know that one day I can help him wield a sword with both hands again.” Lin Ning said with determination in her voice that she would let him hold a sword with two hands.
Cao Peizhi did not know what to say or feel, but it made his heart race rapidly to see that this was the first person who had actually thought about being able to have him hold a sword with two hands. “Sister Ning, why do you always think of Cao Peizhi? Why are you so considerate for him?” He then asked, feeling curious about why this woman thought about his well-being so much. ‘Don’t you know about my background? The background that many despite.’ He thought, seeing how she may not even know about his family background.
“Well… Cao Peizhi has always been out on the battlefield with the crown prince, but he has sacrificed so much and became a military strategist by the crown prince’s side. He is a hero to me. I may not have the eyes to see what he looks like, but I know deep in my heart that he is a hero. If no one wants to help him, then I will be the first to help him. Every hero has a hero for themselves also. Sometimes, they need someone more than you may know.” Lin Ning wanted Cao Peizhi to be the one to know from the bottom of her heart that she will be by his side. Opening her eyes behind her blindfold, she could see the blue again that came from him which she knew that no one had ever truly thought about him. Leaving another silence between them, Lin Ning knew that it may take some time first for him to think about it for the time being. “If you need time, the-”

“No, he would be happy to accept it.” Hearing that from Cao Peizhi, Lin Ning did not think that he would accept it. Remembering that Cao Peizhi was still Wei at this time which she almost said incorrectly earlier which would allow him to know that she knew his real identity. “He will surely accept the offer, but after he returns from the border.”
“Border? Are yo- Is he leaving? For what?” Lin Ning did not know that Cao Peizhi was going back to the border which she recalled after that in the novel Cao Peizhi would go back to the border due to the Ma State that was starting to rebel at this time.
“There are matters that involve two states. We do not know when it will end, but…” Cao Peizhi grabbed onto one of her hands, kissing the back of her palm as he felt how smooth they were. ‘They are soft with a sweet fragrance of plums.’ Thinking about how they both officially met at the palace’s plum garden where the petals all dropped to them both. He was the only one who got to witness her dance beautifully along with petals that fell from the plum trees. Lin Ning on the other hand was still in utter shock to see that he had actually kissed the back of her hand. Making her blush hard, she did not know what to think or say soon after. “I have something to give you.”
Feeling her palm open, she then held a round and flat object in her hands. Not knowing what was just placed in her hands, she did not know what to think of it. “What is this?” She questioned, trying to think of anything of what it could be.
“It is my jade pendant.”
“Your jade pendant?! Why are you giving it to me?! Isn’t it important for you?!” Lin Ning did not understand why he would give her such an important pendant.
