《Worldbreaking》Chapter 7 - Arms Don't Grow on Trees

“Fwooo… Pffff… Fwooooo…” were the strange noises that were produced in Chase’s poor attempt at whistling.
The elderly headmaster was trying his best to whistle successfully for the first time while spinning around a rolling chair in the privacy of his office.
He abruptly planted one of his foot firmly onto the ground to stop the spinning.
“Whoa, looks like that’s his first victim,” Chase said frivolously.
Using his worldbreaking technique “Astral Invasion,” he was able to see through the eyes of one of the many gargoyles that were placed outside of each building throughout the school. The gargoyles would routinely patrol the school and send a signal to Chase every time a duel was taking place.
He had just witnessed the left arm of one of his students being severed.
“Holy shit! Even I felt that!” Chase said while grabbing onto his left shoulder. He rubbed it preciously as if he were afraid of it being severed, too.
“Students these days... It’s like they think arms grow on trees. Arms do not, in fact, grow on trees,” he said while shaking his head disappointedly.
He sent a signal through his mind to a gargoyle to carry the student and the student’s arm to one of the many infirmaries around the school.
Next, Chase saw a horde of students challenging his new student that he thought was named Hope.
“Wow! They must really want one of my lollipops!” he exclaimed in surprise and delight.
Zieg was being swarmed by students and bombarded by duel requests.
“I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!”
“I would like to request a duel with you.”
“Hey kid, duel me!”
“Fuck off, I asked him first.”
“Hope, please have a duel with me.”
“Is that your real hair color?”

“Fight me, unless you’re scared!”
“HOPE! IT’S TIME TO D-D-D-D-DUEL!”
“How about the ones with a lower number fight him first?”
“A whole year of immunity from challenges… Ahnnn! Haah… haah…”
And many other lines reached Zieg’s ears. He tried his best to ignore some of them.
“Let me get a new sword first,” he said while memorizing the first three that asked him for a duel, then went into the armory without looking back.
He left the broken sword on top of the counter, and this time headed into the door that had the sign “1,000-” on top of it.
He briefly surveyed the selection of equipment within the warehouse, and took notice of several things. The equipment available within this ranking group was all made from higher quality materials and metals, such as steel. There was even a wider variety of weapons to choose from here than in the previous ranking group. Some of the equipment here also seemed to have special functions and hidden mechanisms, similar to Alcantis’ retractable blade gauntlets.
Zieg headed towards the section that housed swords. There were swords that split open into whips, swords that had blades that sprung, swords with uniquely shaped blades, and many other unique types.
After appraising the different types of swords, he grabbed a steel shortsword that was almost exactly like the sword he had earlier, then headed out of the warehouse and armory.
A crowd was surrounding the entrance of the armory, and were waiting impatiently for him to arrive.
Holding his newly acquired sword in one hand, he pointed it towards the first three that had challenged him to a duel earlier, and said, “Since you were the first three to challenge me to a duel, I’ll accept the request from each of you. I’m ready now. You can come at me all at once to save time, but I’ll warn you. You won’t get off easy with just a severed limb, you’ll all definitely die. I’m in a bad mood. An annoying human has been watching and looking down at me for a while now.” The three green lights above his badge numbered “597,” disappeared.

“What was that?! You punk!”
“I was thinking of making it painless, but…”
“...”
Was the reaction of the three that Zieg pointed his sword at. They were wearing badges that numbered 672, 606, and 598 respectively and were all at C rank.
Zieg cast wind magic on himself to increase his speed. Although he held an affinity for all of the basic elements, and Julius had told him not to favor any single element, wind was the one he liked using the most. Even his only Worldbreaking skill when he had been an immortal “Collapsing Dragon” utilized the wind element.
The three challengers exited the crowd and slowly made their way forward. The one wearing the badge with the number 672 broke off into a sprint from the other two and pulled a spear out of thin air from his interspacial ring. He thrust wildly at Zieg to no avail. Zieg was avoiding every single one of the thrusts he made.
Growing tired of dodging, this time Zieg deflected a thrust by holding his sword horizontally and sliding it down the pole of the spear. Getting within range, he fluidly decapitated the head of the spear wielder and appeared several steps away from the falling body.
Thinking that this was his chance, the one wearing badge 606 snuck behind Zieg with his dagger, and prepared to slit his throat.
Without even turning around, Zieg thrust his sword behind him between the gap in his left arm. The sword pierced through the chest of the person planning the sneak attack behind him. He was gurgling blood, and the life in his eyes was fading away.
Zieg pulled out his sword from the dagger wielder’s chest, and turned to look at the person who was wearing the badge numbered 598. Oddly, the person hadn’t moved an inch after he had broken off from the crowd.
“I surrender,” 598 said while scratching the back of his head.
Zieg tilted his eyebrows in confusion.
“Live to fight another day, right? Haha,” 598 laughed awkwardly while shrugging his shoulders before disappearing back into the crowd.
“Damn. That was fast.”
“Too bad we couldn’t watch his fight with the Ripper.”
“I blinked and it was over.”
“I’m glad I wasn’t one of the first three to challenge him.”
“Should we give up on that year of immunity?”
“No wonder the headmaster’s giving special rewards for defeating him.”
The crowd said amongst themselves.
Zieg shook his head in disappointment, and waved his sword in the air while using wind magic to get the blood off of it. After cleaning the shortsword, he placed it into his interspacial ring and headed towards 606’s dead body, kneeling and picking up the dagger that he was using, then he started to look around.
To the crowd, it looked like he was randomly looking at the academy’s buildings in the distance.
(So this is where you are) Zieg thought and grinned.
After confirming the location of his target, he got into a throwing stance and covered his entire right arm in a layer of mana to strengthen it. He used wind magic to accelerate the dagger, and launched it at the roof of a faraway building in the west wing.
The dagger ripped through the air at an absurd speed.
