《Transient Fire Works》Chapter 6: An apology

Meracle, after speaking to Dennis, felt that she gotten a better understanding of Jin. When she was in middle school, it is true that she knew Jin. Jin in middle school often avoided fights and had no pride what so ever. But he always acted as shields for others. His family was broke during his middle school years and saw how hard working he was but never once saw him cry because his family was broke. He always had an innocent expression and a jolly personality about him despite the adversities. When she talked to him in the middle school year, he even sounded like a naive kid. She hung out with him a couple of times when she was young. But stopped completely at some point. But she didn't know why.
Later in his high school years, she saw him once more but always from a distance. Innocent looking and jolly and still spoke naive words like before. Thus she concluded that he was just an innocent soul. But during her sophomore year, she and her family had to move away because of business related things to her father. She also left her boyfriend that year. In her senior years, she moved back to the same place and went to the same high school. But when she came back, her whole life crashed down on her. She first found out that her lover was a cheater. That was the first step to her depression. But she was still strong at the time. When she heard that Jin died, she remember the happy soul he had and paid her respect. But somehow, his death affected her in a terrible way and she didn't know why. That was the second step in her depression. The third step was when she was forced out of her own home. She had no home to stay and was forced to live on the streets. For days she felt helpless. She applied to many jobs but not one of them accepted her. She thought that it would be the end for her and she might have to go to the homeless shelter to live once more. But she remembered that her mother would always tell her to pray to god for help.
In the midst of her lonely sad state, a man came and helped her out by giving his own house to her. At first, she couldn't believe it. "Did god really helped me out here?" she murmured. When she entered the house, it was spacious and was ideal. Not much was around. The room up on the top left floor already had everything set as a bed room. "A gift to you. My daughter used to live in that room. But she moved out a long time ago" the man said. Not wanting to pass up the chance, she immediately accepted. The weirdest part of the house was that there were no bills to be paid.
Just then, the phone in the house rang. "Pick it up" the man smiled. Doing as he said, she heard a voice saying, "Alright Ms. Meracle Cross. We already accepted your resume. You can start your job tomorrow at our company *click*". She couldn't believe it! Her whole life just turned around in just one second. When she turned towards the man, he donned a satin white cloak and disappeared in a flash of a light leaving behind only white feathers. It was then that she believed in god more than anything.

Her life was still hard from there on out. A multitude of problem arose while she was at work and fatigue consumed her and her original personality turned sour. For weeks she worked to the point of exhaustion. She eventually got a raise within the first month of work. But it still didn't help out. A lot of drama happened to her in the next few months. So she resorted to drinking booze to forget her problems.
But who knew that one day she would meet Jin again naked. He came back out of his grave! So she thought that it was god's doing. But she needed proof. So she went into the house to get a few weapons. A knife and a toy bb gun. She ran as fast as she could back to him to verify his identity. When she saw his face, it looked much different than it did when it was he was in his freshman year. It gotten manlier and more model like. So she felt a little guilty when she shot his face.
But after verifying his identity, she was overjoyed in her heart but didn't know why. When she heard everything from Jin, she acted as if she didn't believe him. But she believed that it was god that sent him to her. So she told him the truth about his family and offered a way to help him.
But who knew that later on, she would find out that he didn't believe in god? That was a contradiction towards her belief and what happened to her recently. That was why she was so angry. Only later she found out the reason why he didn't believe in god. Jin was the realist who chose not to wait for the helping hand of god but to help himself out. He was not taught the religious values and he also killed as a child out of necessities. But most of all, he wasn’t taught who god was! Since he really didn't experience what she experienced aside from the fact of being brought back to life. So she wanted to show him that god does exist. If he still doesn't believe her, then all she can do is just apologize to him and accepts his point of view.
Just as she was lost in thoughts on how to apologize to him, the news channel on the TV just came on by a random person turning it on. "Breaking news! A man just saved three lives from being ran over by a reckless driver but he paid their price in their place. As you can see, he wore a mask to cover his face and carried a box of fireworks. He threw the box towards a man and ran forward to push the other two away! But he got hit in the process! His body has mirror shards far up his sides! Will he survive?" the news woman reported. "I hope he does. I mean, if he really did saved them, then that means we have a hero on our hand!" another news woman said. "But you can ignore the fact that the hit and run could've been a set up" the new man said. When Meracle heard this, she thought, 'the man might be right'. But then when she took a closer look at the "hero" she recognize the hair style. Messy back, straight front! She also realize that the man also carried fireworks! Who would buy fireworks in autumn before winter? There was only one person like that. It was Jin himself! Meracle was frantic. For hours she worried about him.

But she couldn't get off work early. She had no choice but to stay... Until a voice shouted, "Alright everybody. We are going to have to leave early today. There will be a building maintenance for the next few days! So You guys get a few days off!" Hearing this, she thought that it was god telling her to see if it was Jin. She quickly looked up where he was sent and rushed off towards the hospital.
When she got there, she saw a lot of reporters. But the hospital, did not let a single reporter in. She begged them to let her in but they refused. Feeling dejected, she was about to leave until she saw a familiar face. It was Rosa! One of her old friends during middle school.
Rosa herself also recognize Meracle and came to greet her old friend. They talked for a while about life and the casuals. But when Meracle asks Rosa why she was here, Rosa reply to Meracle, "I was here because I wanted to repay the guy who saved my life. He ran in just like an idiot just to push us out of the way. But he had more luck than anybody I'd ever seen."
"What? Did you see his face then? What does he look like?" Meracle hurriedly ask Rosa. "Why would you need to know? He saved me. Not you" Rosa frowned at the question. "Just tell me. Please. As an old friend" Meracle continue to insist to know what he looked like. Rosa, finally giving in, told her friend this, "he looked like the poor kid from middle school whom you used to like. You guys hung out for a while until he said that he hated you."
"Hated me? Was that how it went?" Meracle was confused. Why didn't she remember this? "Mmm He did say that. But it was to just keep you away from him because he had no intentions of involving you in his miserable life. Or that was what he told me back then. So he kept a good distance away from you but often asks about you. Towards the end of middle school, it looked like you forgotten about him so he did his best to forget about you" Rosa explains. "But this guy can't be him. This guy has a little more flare to him."
"But did he have pale model like skin, straight front hair, messy back hair, and acts like a child if not playfully?" Meracle continues to persist to verify if it was Jin. Rosa was shocked. She got most of it right. But acting like a child? No. Playfully? she hits it on the head. Rosa, shaking her head nods and admits that it was like she said. Rosa then left quietly waving her hand. 'If it is that boy, then I'll be damned' Rosa thought as she left.
Meracle, seeing that she couldn't enter, could only wait at home for his return. So she swung by a bar to drink a couple of shots before coming home. She was in quite the happy mood now that she knows Jin a little more and the fact that she met an old friend.
But when she got home, she couldn't believe what she smelt. The aroma of food filled the air and the familiar silhouette of a person cooking in her kitchen. Her eyes widen with disbelief. Though his entire torso was covered in bandages, he was still cooking like normal. The only things he wore was some long slacks and some socks.
"Jin?" she called out the first name to pop up in her mind. Surely enough, the man responds to her with a slight laugh and said, "Ah ha... So you're home." he turns his head and smiled. "Lets eat! I'm hungry! The hospital had nothing good to eat. So i came back as fast as I could!" Jin turns around to serve the dishes onto the table. She couldn't believe it. How was a man who just got ran over was here? "Ah. Right. About this morning.... I'm sorry about what I said. I hope you can forgive me" Jin said as he clasped his hands and bow towards her. Jin, who wasn't really in the wrong apologized to her! Knowing his nature, he really didn't want to let sour feelings to stay. Thus he wanted to admit that he was wrong rather than making her apologize or make her feel bad.
She rushed up to his back and hugs him. "Ah... Don't apologize. Actually Jin.... I was wrong. I just didn't know enough about you. I wasn't thinking about what you've experienced compare to what I've experience."
Unexpectedly, his back felt broad and strong despite how he weak looks.
"Ow... Meracle. Can we do this later? My back still hurts from being hit..." Jin groans. He only rested for a little, so of course it would still hurt. But then she realize that he said her name. "Eh? Jin? Did you just say my name?" Meracle was surprised. Did he finally remember her? "Yeah. I remember a little. But we can talk about this after dinner. I'm about to get a back cramp!" Jin was really in pain now. Quickly, Meracle set him down on the chair. Seeing the pained hero, she had to laugh. 'Did he really save those people? He sure doesn't act stoic at all" she thought. She soon forgot about all those religious business and let bygones be bygones. After all, no one wants to fight over something so small for a long period of time. It just wasn’t right if she did persist.

A Dungeon Tested
Its a hard life balancing all the things a successful dungeon should be doing. Will our newest addition to the dungeon race even survive let alone make it to the top where dungeons such as the megafauna roam? Or will our main character suffer in the dust till some inauspicious and ignoble death at the end of some F-rankers sword? Note this is me having some fun while I wait for new releases of dungeon stories. Feel free to comment on that basis. I will be keeping the first few chapters slow so as to give me plenty to build upon later. I have tentatively given this the gore tag for now. With that in mind "Let the games begin".

Dungeon Crawler Katia
The aliens killed everyone on Earth...almost. Every structure, from the Taj Mahal to the lowliest lobster trap, vanished into the earth, killing everyone inside. The survivors were given a choice: Endure on the surface without food or shelter or tools, or descend into a world-spanning nightmare dungeon that is also a reality TV show. Katia, an art professor from Iceland who has given up her humanity to transform into a shapeshifting doppelganger, meets up with Carl and his cat, Donut. Together, the three fight to survive in a dungeon filled with Clarketech goblin murderdozers and pyramid-scheme fairy moonshine-makers. The above is, of course, describing Dungeon Crawler Carl. With DoctorHepa's (the author) permission I'm posting some fanfic to expand on Katia, one of the secondary characters who started off not getting as much exploration as I would have preferred. I started off writing chapters that matched up to canon except from her POV instead of Carl's; that lasted a couple of chapters before going off the rails and spinning off into a completely new story, which suggests I should really go back and renumber all the chapters as soon as I find some tuits.
