The WitchBoard Series continues with "Return of the Dark Gods".
Gamer Mick Huxley continues his adventures along with the rest of the Soek and Ba'Neesh. Only, this time he is confronted with the Dark Gods themselves. They intend to harvest Earth resources and toy with its inhabitants, like they have done repeatedly in Earth history, only this time humanity, led by the Soek, isn't eager to submit to an alien space-born species presenting themselves as gods. Mick strikes the first blow at the end of "The Wild Ba'Neesh" when he has Iiyiko wipe through the world-wide sigil that has been preventing Earth scientists from seeing the approach of the Dark God's fleet of ships. The Dark Gods retailiate immediately and that is exactly where this novel begins.
Since you have already read The Wild Ba'Neesh you are now familiar with the WitchBoard world and it will likelier be an easier read for you even though I will continue to do worldbuilding for readers joining us only starting with this new novel. I will be including a lot of the same cast of characters and, of course, the true villains, the Dark Gods will be introduced. The stakes are higher as now all of Earth is under seige and there are a lot of human beings who don't like or trust the Soeks in their midst. So, it is likely there will be trouble from two sides, humanity and the Dark Gods. And, some of the Soek's old enemies are back eager to work with the Dark Gods against the Soek. It's complicated and nasty.
If you found The Wild Ba'Neesh to be a bit dark and scary then you will likely find The Return of the Dark Gods to be even more intense. This next novel also has more science fiction elements woven into its fabric as a good deal of the story will take place in Earth orbit and it will include space ships and massive habitat spheres. You like those, right?

Both The Wild Ba'Neesh and Return of the Dark Gods fall into the sub-genre of Dark Urban Fantasy, GemerLit, with features of Horror and Science Fiction. Both novels are intended for an adult audience even though Mick is 15 when his story starts. There is and will be profanity and violence in both novels.

Aria of the Fallen: Adventure in a Foreign System
After the world ended and reality broke, everyone had different opinions about how it should all be put back together again. Humanity's solution centered around trying to revive an entity known as the Overseer of All Things, an ancient machine god which was shattered into pieces during the apocalypse. In return for the human's devotion, it gifted them with the tools to fight the monsters which had come to dominate the broken fragments of the world - such as [Classes], [Skills], and most importantly, the ability to [Level Up]. Sláine E. Catháin honestly doesn't give a crap about any of that. A warrior rabbit-girl hailing from a different System, she's decided to come to the human's corner of reality because their methodology has led to them becoming extremely powerful, and even if it's in the foreign land of Arpege, Sláine intends to die a legend. Naturally, she bites off a bit more than she can chew, and when she's paired with a prickly, sarcastic, and mysterious woman named Red, she finds her life soon filled with with drama, mysteries, friendship, love, occasional discussions of how best to hide a body and - ugh - stat optimization. x A dark comedy/drama yuri LitRPG with a heavy focus on world-building, character development, and people talking to each other. 8 170Apollyon's Curse
Within the pages of folklore and fantasy, tales of people who chase after the dream of eternity, of living forever, rarely find a happy ending. They are either struck by the grim truth of reality, give up, and return to mortality or face a ghastly realization of their wishes. The latter often the worse fate, as they come to realize, only far too late, that what they sacrificed was worth far more than the time they gained. Ultimately, the common thread in these stories is that “immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing”. People either realize it early and give up or are doomed to inevitably face its consequences. In the world Enrich lives in, that saying does hold merit. Every pathway towards eternal life has shackles of its own. They bring those high above down to the ground, evening the playing field. It is thanks to these fundamental laws that ambitious mortals are able to defy the heavens and achieve immortality themselves. The variety of methods result in each of these bindings varying in intensity and degree of freedom. Enrich’s path doesn't break this trend. Though, after what he did to himself, most wouldn’t even consider him a living thing anymore. On the day of his ascension, a world’s worth of souls were melted and recast. On that day, the human’s path had reached its conclusion, recast into Apollyon. An artifact, a weapon, is eternal, after all. As for the curse? The payment will be made, as it must. So why not offload the curse to someone else? Mortals throw their lives away for all manner of petty reasons, noble or otherwise, especially in desperation. Eventually, someone will be willing to foot the bill. Most will if given the chance. The bait is far too tempting, after all. Power, status, knowledge. All at their fingertips. If only they say “yes”. And Apollyon is very willing to help any lost souls. If they give up everything in return, of course.
