Diary entry 9

His name was Zarod. The man I killed. He had one of those green cards on it with his name and I used my notes from the school to translate it. I know its silly being so mournful over not only a stranger, but a stranger who threatened the lives of you and your friend, but I can't help it.

Hanji said I would get used to it. I don't want to. Getting used to killing is not something I ever plan to do. Perry extracted the bullet and did what he could to stitch up the wound. Not sure why not like anyone here knows what a gun is. Then Tex and Declan took it away, dumped it in an ally for the rats to find. He had in his pocket a ring and a couple of spare knives.

Then we just went about our day like normal. Only Tex and I went to the school today. The rest broke off to do their own thing. Jose and Shanti are doing some more project bard stuff. Yuki went to try to talk to the religious folks, took Mrs. Mime with her. The rest went looking for information on this world. Magic, Economic, politics, technology level, population, etc.

In lighter news, Yuki just noticed I'm keeping this diary on my phone. she's the first to comment on it. I read to the group what I had so far and Yuki said I should try quoting people more. Give them a voice. I guess I should put that into practice, let me try again-

I had a conversation with Yuki.

She asked: "What are you typing on your phone? Not like we have any service here."

Me: "I'm keeping a diary of what we've done so far."

Her: "Why are you doing that? No one can read it, not even us. Well except tex and Declan. They speak English too, right?"

Me: "I'm not sure. It's a coping mechanism I guess."

Her: I understand Victoria. Do you mind reading what you have to us so far?"

I skipped the parts where I was feeling suspicious of my fellow earthlings. Not sure ill keep this up, but it's a nice change of pace. I notice Declan and Shanti pull their phones out and are currently typing something. Maybe I inspired them to keep diaries too?

Also, Mrs. Mime said her first word today! When I read off my speculation that she was Russian she made a quick Correction. "Ukrainian." That kid's voice sounds like a kitten. I'm glad she's coming out of her Shell.

We have about an hour of sunlight left. They bought some alcohol in town so we started a bonfire outside of the warehouse with some of the broken boards and scrap wood around the place and are going to dance to some music on shuffle around the fire. try to lighten the sour mood.
