《Rivalry I Live for》Chapter 6. Lazy

After selling the rest of my worthless items, I now had

Amount of Money leftTotal: 9 Gold, 61 Silver, 31 Copper

.. Yeah, only for 10 silver and around 20 coppers… Poor bastards with worthless items but filled with gold.

As I stood at front of the gate waiting, I could see that the once shining brightly sun, started to go down.

...

Douglas… Where are you… The breeze is hitting my face… Hmm?

I started to hear the sound of a wagon coming closer.

“Ah, hey Boss! Kept ya waiting, didn’t I?” he said, waving.

Hah… “You’re late! I see that you have a bigger wagon also!”

“Yeah, I spent a bit for this” he patted the wagon.

“Also, good news! I talked over with the old man and got ourselves some workers!”

Oh.. “Really? I don’t see them anywhere”

“Oh you tease Boss… They are coming tomorrow! It’s getting late!”

“Right….”

“Hop on” he beckoned me.

“Heh...Yeah”

Jumping onto the half wood and steel wagon with the triple the size of the old one, I smiled. Now I don’t have to spend a lot of time waiting at the lumber mill for the workers to transport the lumber… My rival is waiting!

“Tom & Jerry! Go!” He said, which then pulled us past the gate.

“So… How was your day in town?” He smiled towards me.

“Hahaha. Well, a bit trouble here and there”

We chatted together and ate on the way as we relaxed on the wagon that moved through the breeze of the forest lid by the twilight on our way back to the lumber mill. Of course, we didn’t forget to drive through the dead bodies that vanishes when the 4 days cooldown is up in game.

As I laid there feeling heavy on my stomach on the wagon, looking towards the white moon that shone brightly through the woods. The sound of a flickering torch next to me. I asked “Hey, where will we sleep?”

“At the barn with the herd”

What?! Really… No fluffy beds? Other than the fluffy Oxes of course…

“Do we have beds?”

“Oxes” He replied.

“...”

“Ah, we have arrived!” He said and patted my face because he didn’t look behind himself.

Hey! You could have burned yourself...

“Okay, stop!” He ordered the Oxes which stopped at front of the barn next to the lumber mill.

Jumping out of the wagon with a “thud” together with Douglas I took the torch hanging on the side of the wagon and threw it to him.

“Ah!” He let out as he tried to catch it.

Heh… “Nice catch”

As I followed Douglas to the barn, he put the torch on the torch holder and opened the barn.

“Anyways, we wake up at noon and since you are an adventurer you can do whatever you want before that”

“The door to the barn will be open whenever you want to come in” He said and then went inside as I stood there.

Ah, he knew the way we played the game… While I am playing this game on the bed, I am also sleeping tightly, hence I won't get tired in the real world. But I can still get hungry or the need to go to toilet, etc. Of course there is a system that warned you in the game beforehand if it detects something abnormal with the body.

Rethinking the rules… I remember that the game was so immersive, that even the character itself also needed to sleep for a while. This meant that you were really vulnerable at sleep. Well, who cares, I might as well go to sleep also.

I went inside the barn that revealed large room filled Oxes and a stair that led to the next floor. Ah, the stench of the fluffy hair and the Oxes itself, as they move around the barn hugging with each other.

Searching around I found Douglas trying to sleep on one of the white Oxes… I wanted to pull a prank but didn’t. Trying to see if I could find a Oxe that could fit my size, I saw one alone at the corner of the barn. A big black badass Oxe.

Hah, one day! That big and fluffy Winter Oxe will be my battle mount! If you are laying there alone, it must mean that you are the chief eh?

Walking toward the Oxe, I laid there and felt the fluffy pelt touch my skin. The soft feeling… Just like a bed.

“Grrr…”

Ops… Forgot to unsheathe my weapon, better sign out quick right after also, before I get into combat. Sorry body in this world...

“Sign out”

Now back at the bright lit floor that stretched endlessly to as far as my eyes could see. I opened the menu and exited the game and the virtual visor or in short VV.

“Pant… Pant.. Pant…” Crap… The fatigue of traveling through hyperspace or something like that isn’t fun with a big body. Erugh… The tingling feeling on my body, feels so weird! Shivering as I could still feel it I left the bed to check the time. “04:62”

Ah… I got 2 hours on me for an 8 hour ingame.

Looking out of my window, I could see that it was dark… Well no shit.

Anyways, gotta tend my body!

Putting aside my VV, I gave out a heavy sigh...

Munching on leftover food that my mother had left in the fridge since noon, I read the forums for information of Second world.

Huh? “Level 1 cheater…”

Lets see here…

“Cough… Cough Cough…”

Hah, that’s me… Bastards, nearly killed me through real life with words...

And level 1? You guys had a detection scroll or what…

Pfft! The bashing from the veterans against the noob gold buyers!

Well not that is illegal though, thinking back to my notorious guild. I used to loot the rare items of passing travelers and sell them at the market, run by the company that made the Second World itself. So yeah, Gold trading is acceptable, but at the wrong hands it is easily loseable.

Player killers in the game also lost everything they had if the killer decided to loot them or another player that passed by them. This is also the reason why my guild members hated me, we were all player killers and my mother who is gold hungry probably looted everyone and sold it for real money… AND the riches of our base where everyone kept their stash since it costed a few gold to use a bank.

Meanwhile, those that wasn’t a player killer, lost at least 1 item, but had a strong chance to lose more. Unless the killer bought an expensive scroll that allowed them to loot everything.

Oh well, this is also one of the the reason or rather a small one why most players like this game. The unexpected can happen!

Sigh… My mom should be over level 200 right now… It took me 3 years in game to get to 79!... Might be because I trolled around mostly and increased my passive skills that made me easily stronger than a level 100. Still… It took me a while…

In the game there is two ways to get stronger. One is to level up and get a set of allocation skill points depending on what class it is… Damn rare classes. The other is to train in the world itself and gain stats, through heavy work like reading, running, what I am doing and training your passive skills.

One hour and a half later...

-Welcome to Second Wold-

-Diving into character-

-Good luck ^^ -

… “Good luck you to…”

“lick, lick, lick”

I shivered as a cold wet feeling touched me cheek. Trying to open my eyes, something tickled my nose that made me sneeze “Ah chu!”, I stretched and pushed something that felt soft away. Rubbing the warm and soft feeling, it felt like a pelt… As I stared to the ceiling, the stench of a Oxe took over me… A big Oxe stared before my face.

Ah, That’s right, I was sleeping on a Oxe…

“Lick”

Urgh! “Staph!” I said as I tried to stand up from the floor and picked up my steel axe.

Now gazing down on the Black and fluffy Winter Oxe that slept alone on a corner without the others. I petted the fluffy head that tilted like a puppy.

“Heh…Aren’t you a cute little one?”

Ops anyways, better make use of my time “Time is money after all”. I went outside of the barn and saw the sun rise from the far end of the flushing forest. It should be noon soon… What do I do in the mean time? I scrubbed my messy hair.

“Status…”

Hmm.. Might as well train my weapon throw skill.

Tightly gripping my Steel Axe until my icy fingers from last night burned I searched around for a good spot to throw my axe.

“Hai YAAA!” I threw the Axe that slashed the wind towards a tree around 15 meters… “Clink!”

A breeze flew past me as I stood there silent...

I missed…

Turning around, face burning, I checked the vicinity. Quickly I ran towards the axe and picked it up… Ran back and retried.

“Hai YAAA!” “Clink!” “Clink!”

The sound of the axe head hitting the cobblestone at front of the tree…

Turning around once again, face burning, I checked the vicinity. Phew…

Quickly I ran towards the axe and picked it up… Ran back and retried.

“Hai YAAA!” “Clink!”

Turning around once again after another, face melting the snow on the ground, I checked the vicinity.

…. No! This doesn’t work… I need a way to obtain the weapon back without running back and forth like a chicken…

Once again I ran towards the axe, picked it up, ran towards the barn this time… And searched for something I could use.

Ahah! A rope and a strong thread of garn! I found in the room above the barn without Douglas noticing me… Pfft.. He wouldn’t mind… Surely not?

I ran back out of the barn, sat on a nearby cold and snowy stone and tightly tied the strong thread from the garn around the lower end of the shaft for a better grip and to create a loop for the rope without puncturing a hole on the shaft. If I did. The chances is that I would have to chop the trees bare handed… I shivered thinking about it.

Sticking the thumb sized rope into the loop and tied it on the rope itself. I have now created my Lazy Steel Axe!
