I'm going to slow down the pace a bit. The next few chapters will mostly beflashbacks about her life with her Family and Zoe.
Hope you enjoy ^^
[By the way, I'm probably going to Keep with the Name Alexis, if anyone disagrees feel free to discuss with me in the comments.]
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Zoe was over to my house. Already at six and a half years old we were quite close.
School had been boring as always. Only math lessons had been ok.
But we didn't care at this moment. A great weekend was to come and we knew it.
Zoe was really fascinated by some of my horse plushies, as such we pretty much only played with those, although she would sometimes bring some of her own to my place.
Although there was always this one bunny she needed to have to be able to sleep.
"Aleeex, when will we eaaat?" Today Zoe had been wearing a long dress with a ton of flowers on it. Together with her blonde hair that went down to her butt she looked simply too cute.
I was just plain normal with a short pair of trousers and a shirt my mom had bought me.....
It had a picture of the cookie monster on it.
"I don't know Zoe, mom wanted to make burgers."
Zoe makes a sad face.
"But I can't smell anything. I'm hungry."
I throw one of my plushies -one that looks like a small turtle- at her. She catches it.
"Zoe I want food too but mom has to make it first."
Throwing back the turtle she seems to have an idea.
"But I know how to cook tooooooo. Let's make something to eat Aleeeex."
I don't know why, but it seemed like a great idea.
"Yeees, we'll make food for everyone and then mom will be so proud of us."
We both jump up and rush into the kitchen.
My mom is probably in her room working right now. She works for a library but after she had had me her superiors had allowed her to work from home.
"Alex? What should we make? I wanna do pancakes."
"But what about my burgers?" now it's my turn to sadly look at her.
"You always want to eat burgeeers. Burger here, burger there. Imma do pancakes."
"Fine..." I didn't want to go against what Zoe wanted. I don't know. I think this is how my father felt when talking with my mother. Although whenever he really didn't want to back off...
The fighting would get quite loud and in the early days of their marriage it had been quite frequent sadly.
While I had been thinking Zoe had already placed a chair in front of the stove.
"We need flour. Aleeex?"
"What's flour?" yea, I wasn't really interested in the kitchen at first, it got better when I got older though.
"White powdery stuff."
"Aaah, yees, I know where flower is."
With that I hurry towards one of our cupboards. My mom uses this one to store away all the things she uses when baking cake.
I take out what Zoe wanted and hand it to her. She had already found a bowl from somewhere... I think from the sink.
After putting in some of it and missing about 40 percent of the rest she turned around to me.
"We need eggs. You know what eggs are right?"
I'm stupid, but no that stupid.
"You're mean, I know what eggs are."
Feeling insulted I sit down at our small kitchen table.
Zoe instantly seems to regret what she had said and comes towards me.
"I'm sorry Alexis." hugging me she pulls me down from my chair.
"But don't you want food?"
And she got me again.
"Yees! Food!" I instantly forgot about everything and get a carton full of eggs for Zoe.
Again she makes a huge mess leaving the rest of the eggs on the counter.
"We need to mix everything."
[I know a good recipe for pankaces, I'm making them mess up because they're only six -just so you know xD-]
"How do we do that?" Confused I look around. Then I remember what my mom always used to mix things.
"We have a thingy that does that."
"Ho? Where is it."
I point up to a cupboard above the counter.
"Up there."
Instantly Zoe gets on the counter. Suddenly afraid I walk towards her.
"Alex, in whaaaaaaaa-" she slips on the egg and flour mix on the counter and falls towards me. Extending my hands I try to catch her but she just falls over me.
Luckily her head falls onto my chest. Unluckily mine directly hits the floor. A short pain pierces my skull and I start crying.
"MOoooooOOom!!"
Because I was crying Zoe started to copy my behaviour.
"SophieeEEeee!!"
After only a few seconds my mom rushes into the room. Shortly stopping after seeing the both of us.
"Oh no." quickly she picks Zoe up and puts her on a chair.
"Don't move Zoe."
Then she lifts me up and kisses me on my head.
"I'm sorry sweetie. I'm so sorry. Everything is alright."
With the calming warmth of my mother I stop crying. Zoe doesn't stop though.
Then she seats me next to my best friend and inspects my head.
"What did you girls do? Jeeesh, I'm pretty sure I told you not to do anything in the kitchen without me."
Her hands slowly feel around my head.
"You definitely have a bruise. Your burgers will have to wait a bit. I'm going to call Dr. Magnera."
Seems like she definitely is scared of me being hurt if she calls our home doctor.
"Stay here and do not move from that stop." hugging Zoe once to calm her down she walks towards our phone. After dialing a number she quickly talks to someone.
"Hello, this is Mrs. Mercer."
"..."
"yes exactly, could Dr. Magnera come over to look at Alexis? She fell and seems to have hit her head."
"..."
"Thanks a lot."
Then she turns towards us again. Glaring at us. She seems quite mad and both me and Zoe sink down in our chairs.
"Now, care to tell me what you did to my kitchen?"
ha.haaa.haa.aa.haaa.
scary
Dr. Magnera arrived about ten minutes later and took a look at my head.
After inspecting it for a while he sighs and turns towards my waiting mother.
"You don't have to worry about little Alexis. Her head is fine, you'll get away with a fright. Just be more careful in the future."
Now a lot calmer my mother turns towards me and hugs me.
"Don't scare me like this Alex, please just don't."

"I'm sorry mooom." I apologize and start crying again and once more Zoe joins in and my mom is left with two crying kids in her living room.
"Mrs. Mercer? Are you going to be alright?" Dr. Magnera looks worryingly at my mother but she simply smiles.
"Everything is alright, I can manage. They're just hungry. Thank you for coming over."
Dr. Magnera makes a small bow.
"It's for the children."
With that he moves out of the house and leaves my mother with two crying kids alone.
She turns towards us.
"Now, come on don't cry. You're fine see? How about I make you two some burgers and fries?"
she bows down and wipes the tears out of our eyes. Then she pulls out a handkerchief and wipes our noses.
I stop crying and look up to my mom.
"Can you make the burgers really tasty?"
"Of course sweetie, I'll make them right away, you two just stay here ok?"
Zoe looks a little frustrated.
"But Sophieeee, always eating burgers is not healthy."
"Ohooo, but we've got a lot of lettuce and tomato. If you put that on it gets even better. And we don't always eat burgers only on special days."
She makes an excited face.
"Or does that mean you don't want any of my burgers? Does that mean you think they're not yummy?"
She pouts a little bit. Instantly shock materializes in Zoe's face.
"Nonoono, that's not what I meant. I want some toooo"
Suddenly laughing my mom takes out some utensils to clean up the mess we had done earlier.
"Well, sit down, drink some juice and let me make them then."
She hands us a glass and pours in some orange juice. Then proceeds to clean the kitchen up.
Then she makes the burgers how I will learn to do them. Just perfect for oneself.
"The sky is soo blueeeeeeeee!"
Zoe suddenly exclaims in front of me and points at the window behind me.
I feel really smart and answer her.
"Of course the sky is blue dummy, the sky is always blue."
Looking at me offended.
"But it's really blue. Look."
I turn around and am surprised to see a dark blue covering the evening sky.
OHHhhHHHH
"BLUEEEE!?!?!"
Now my mother turns around too.
"What are you two on about? Is the weather that nice tod-?"
She interrupts herself.
"What the actual fuck?"
her voice barely audible teaches me the first swearword I'll ever hear.
then she starts shouting
"Get away from the window girls. NOW!"
rushing forward she takes us by the hand and pulls us away from the window.
"Shit!", my second swearword
She steps in between the new blue sky and us. Then she pushes us behind her.
Shortly after ghostly blue flames seem to explode through the window.
"Beautiful" Zoe exclaims.
My mother pushes us further behind her and walks backwards.
"Girls go back, into the living room NOW!"
The three of us retreat back through the open door but it's too late.
Tears roll down my mother's cheeks, she seems scared witless. As a result both me and Zoe start crying too.
Turning around she hugs the two of us while the blue flames engulf us.
Nothing happens. They pass through us not leaving a scratch. My mother proceeds to hold us tight.
It takes ten minutes until the flames disappear while the three of us hug each other crying.
Another ten minutes afterwards my mother recovers and inspects the two of us.
"Are you two unhurt? Did anything happen with you two?"
After making sure that nothing had actually happened to us my confused mother sat down at the table to calm down.
A few minutes pass then suddenly the phone starts ringing. Getting up and motion us two to stay in the kitchen she picks up.
"..."
"Nothing happened to her, Zoe is fine, Thomas calm down, please she's fine."
"..."
"Yes, they just passed through us. It will be fine, I know about your meeting, we'll take care of Zoe while you are away."
"..."
"Say hi to Helen for me will you?"
"..."
"thanks. See you later"
That probably where Zoe's parents asking for their daughter. While they certainly cared about her a lot, their work always came first sadly so she spend a lot of time at my place.
"OH my god! MARCUS"
my mother suddenly shouts her husband's name.
"nononononono"
She quickly dials a number and nervously fumbles around while the call connects.
"Come on, come on, come on."
I slowly step towards her.
"When will the burgers be ready?" I was really hungry so I didn't think about asking this.
"Alex, come on sweetie don't bother mommy right now ok? You'll have your burgers later."
Because she seems stressed I'm afraid. Zoe too steps behind me and hugs me.
"MARCUS!"
my mother starts crying and because we don't know any better so do we.
"Oh thanks god you're well. Pease tell me everything is ok."
"..."
"I don't give a wet fuck about the car. So WHAT you crashed it. Are you unhurt?"
"..."
"Thank god. We're ok, we're ok. Just get home as fast as possible. Please."
"..."
"I love you too."
sighing she puts the phone down and wipes the tears out of her corners.
"He's fine, he's fine."
"Mom? What happened?" I start asking.
"I don't know sweetie. I'll make the food. We should eat something."
then more to herself than to us: "Let's hope the news know what happened."
We went on with the day as normal. My mother remained quite stressed during the whole evening but as soon as my dad came home she calmed down.
At 8 pm the four of us watched the news where a news reporter talked about the flames.
"Today at estimated 19 o'clock a weather phenomenon occurred. Specialist guess that it had to do with the light reflected by the sun. More information has not been found out sadly.
The phenomenon seems to have circled earth one entire time before finally dissolving over the ocean. Any...."
My parents seemed calmed down by the explanation that the reflection had been the cause of all of this.
As for me and Zoe, we didn't care, we just wanted to eat our food.
"Is she still asleep? We've already arrived, maybe it would be better to wake her up?" a female voice speaks up.
"Let her sleep, she will wake up once she's ready." a male voice answers
"And you really didn't do anything bad to her?"
"Of course I did not. I simply caused her to remember some of the better moments in her life."
"But what if they were blocked because of a trauma?"
"...."
"Liam?"
"It wasn't caused by a trauma, I'm sure of it. Let her sleep until she wakes up."
"..."

Law of Divine Gates
What is transcendence? There are those on countless planets who believe creation ended with them. The notion that they are God's chosen people, and nothing else existed beyond them became a firmly rooted ideal. An arrogant assertion you say? Well there you have it, ignorance is something mortals never have a lack of. This is not transcendence, to transcend is to explore the limits of existence, to constantly grow, and lay claim to all the universe has to offer. Transcendence is to not be constrained by ideals, or the planet of your birth, to transcend is to leave behind your Mortal shell, to challenge heaven's law, and formulate your own. Heaven would see mortals bowed in servitude until the end of their days, to reincarnate, and begin another lifetime of worship, giving praise to the gods. A young demon accidentally stepped through the gateway of endless possibilities, will he succumb to heaven's authority?
