《Hero's breaking》4. Just a week of doing nothing... and then this happens

I didn't do much for the remainder of the time until Zoe came back. I kept watching tv dramas until I got bored. Zoe came back at 3:30 pm, slightly late but it was fine since she bought my groceries. Also it turned out that she was right with the military staying roughly a week. She agreed that she would live with me for the week so I wouldn't be as bored as I would be alone. Luckily nothing more occurred during that time. We just hung out at my place eating and playing games. Sometimes Maxis would come over to eat too.
He didn't know who we were... or to be precise what we were. It was sad that we couldn't tell him but it couldn't be changed. He would freak out on us and we didn't want that. All he knew was that my parents worked a lot so he basically never saw them. It's good that way too. My dolls are not foolproof and if something happened I wouldn't be able to explain anything.
It was an enjoyable week without school. On the weekend I could stop pretending to be sick again so me, Zoe and Maxis went out to the cinema and to a restaurant later on to celebrate me defeating my sickness. I was surprised that it all looked as if nothing had changed. After having a part of the military esper division barge into our city it looked as if nothing happened. The only difference was a hotel that was totally abandoned except for said military. I wasn't stupid enough to drive near that. Even I am not as mentally damaged to risk something like that. It was a normal weekend to be honest. We had fun watching that drama in the movies.... yes I'm an drama addict leave me alone.
It were the last days Zoe could sleep over though. Since I was officially healthy again her parents would ask questions if she stayed even longer. Well since her grades didn't drop much it was ok. It was the last night of sleeping together for a while. But I know I could manage all of it. Zoe promised me that she'd come running instantly if I ever had a panic attack like always.
My alarm woke us up at 6 am...
I felt someone breathing onto my neck.
"Hey Alex we need to get up"
Zoe's cute sleepy voice resounded through my closed eyes.
"hnnngmmm"
I honestly don't want to stand up. Ah well. Suddenly I can feel something pushing me out of my bed.
"GUAAA?!?!?"
Landing hard on my wooden floor I furiously look up at my bed. From the edge of it I can make out Zoe looking down on me with a smug smile.
"Oh sorry, didn't mean to cleanly push you off"
Sorry?!
"Guuh"
I make a sad face while mustering her from below.
"Why'd you do that Zoeeeee?!?!"
Her reaction was not something I had known from her. Instead of apologizing or anything her answer was simple and unexpected
"Aww, so cute"

Letting her smile turn heartly she bows down from my bed and hugs me. Every single boy in history would have envied me in that moment as she pressed my face into her breasts. But there was only one thing going through my mind.
Cute?!
Without letting me react Zoe stands up and gets dressed. Of course using my own clothes again. Before I could voice my complains Zoe pulls me up by my hands and simply throws me some of my own clothes.
"There you go Alex"
Haaa. Sighing I simply put on the dark brown trousers and the orange top she had thrown me. I never win these fights if you want to call them that.
"Oh by the way. The military is still here, but it seems that now they're here for our protection."
"Protection?"
I ask back as we sit down in front of the kitchen table to eat some cereal. My dolls already left the house an hour ago to go to work and I was quite glad about it.
"Yeah, I heard them talking about how something will happen in Jamestown. But they don't know what and when. So they just roughly checked everyone and then stayed here. I'm sure they'll only leave when what they expect actually did happen. You need to be careful Alex. If anyone finds out we're here it'll get bad."
Her expression was filled with worry and I knew I couldn't object her.
"I know I know. I'll keep a low profile don't worry."
Sighing again we put our empty bowls into the sink, I'll clean them later.... probably....
"Let's get going then"
I say while grabbing my keys from the counter. My bag hasn't been touched for one week, so everything is still inside... not that I care if something is missing to be honest. We both get into the car and drive to school. On our way there we both keep singing the multitude of songs played on the radio but our fun didn't last that long sadly. Arriving at the parking lot we're greeted by the sight of two soldiers guarding the front gate. Turning my head towards Zoe I voice my disdain.
"Che why are they here?"
Zoe seems to muster me for a second then smiles again.
"Alex, don't worry about it too much. Think you can try to act as if you're still slightly sick? They're probably just here to keep everything in check."
Easier said than done. As we walk towards the two soldiers Zoe linked arms with me and pulled me past them with a small grin. They looked over us but it only lasted a few seconds. We didn't seem very interesting to them Without further surprises we got to our classroom and my boring school life resumed again.
It seems that the two interns fit in just fine. Both of them instantly looked at me and Zoe as we got into the room. Though they were not the only ones that did that. Almost every single student looked at me, came over and asked me if I had recovered. Zoe fended them off like a tiger and soon everyone left the two of us along again. Though our teacher too eventually came into the room splitting me and my best friend apart with another boring lecture. The first three hours of school where dull at most, nothing happened except the teachers handing me every single thing I had missed over the last week.

I almost cried looking through the mountain of papers I would have to read. For my standards it was insane and I even had the remaining work Zoe had brought me during my absence. I smile at myself.
Well, it's not like I really but a lot of effort into my homework and studies. With that thought I calm down and lean back in my chair looking at Zoe from the side. She was actually quite concentrated and I knew I wouldn't be able to provoke a reaction right now, so I decided to relax through the whole of history and English period. Math not that much, since our teacher there actually wanted me to at least act as if I was interested in what happened in front. Most of them where glad anyways that I was able to recover from whatever sickness I had had.
As soon as the bell rang and indicated that math class was over I was delighted and instantly stood up to..... I think flee might be the right word here. Next to me Zoe shook her head while slowly packing away her things. It didn't matter for me as I charged towards the door, I'd meet up with her during break. But before I could run out of the room to eat lunch I was stopped by the two interns that somehow managed to get in front of me and my goal. Since I really don't want to have a conversation with these two due to the boy's bad impression on me I simply look at them with clear annoyance in my eyes.
"What do you two want?"
Due to my clear hostility the boy looks into my eyes with disdain.
"We simply wish to know if you have recovered enough from your sudden illness and we wish to talk to you in private."
One of my eyelids starts twitching since his manner of speech confused me
"Sorry, but I really don't want to spend time in the company of you two, just so you know I'm not interested."
That being said I try to shove the pink haired girl out of the way. But she doesn't move an inch. My entire expression turns mad as I face her. Now with clear disgust in my voice I talk to her.
"Ok, you need to lose some weight. Just so you know I don't like heavy people, now get out of my way before I really want to move you."
Her mouth turns into a genuine seeming grin as she chuckles towards me. Feeling a red rage swelling up inside me I clench my fist. Did she just chuckle?! Enraged I look down at her trying to calm down. But then I hear her whisper.
"I would love to see you try."
My fists start shaking as I'm really close to throwing her out of some window at that moment but their savior comes forth in the form of Zoe who simply hugs me from behind putting my hands into her palms. And asks in a high pitched voice clearly trying to sound cute.
"What do they want? Can we go eat something, I'm hungry."
I open my mouth trying to reply to her but get interrupted by the male intern, who looks at me as if I was some kind of decayed piece of food.
"Ah good, we wanted to talk to you too. If you would come with us please."
I think they have a death wish, the only thing holding me back was the warm body of my best friend holding my tight. But Zoe too gives them a look of annoyance before answering.
"And why should we talk to you? I mean we obviously have no interest in your company as Alex stated before. And why in private, what is so important that you need to stop us from going into school break?"
His answer shocks us a little bit, but luckily we can keep our composure and we do not instantly betray our feelings.
"Well, I just find it very interesting that you Alex just happened to get sick the exact moment the military showed up. Also I find it interesting that you Zoe started to behave very differently around the military personnel. Want me to keep going or are we going to go somewhere more private now?"
Che. I slowly push Zoe off of me and grab her hand pulling her next to me before answering.
"First of all you stupid idiot. Do not call me Alex, that name is for my friends only and as you pretty much just threatened us you have no right to call me by that name. For you I am Alexis, call me by that name.
Secondly come to the roof now. The teachers won't miss us even if we take too long."
I'm mad, no that wouldn't describe my state right now, I was enraged. Without waiting for them to follow me I turn around and basically pull Zoe behind me to the roof. Normally nobody would have excess to that part of the building but I had 'borrowed' the keys at one point. Not caring if the interns are actually following us I move up the staircase leading to our destination. Finally, after opening the door with the stolen key I take a few steps onto the concrete and drop my entire act. Without hiding my hostility I turn around and motion
After taking a few steps I turn around and drop my whole act. Without even trying to hide my hate I turn around expecting to face the two interns. I was not disappointed.
Slightly behind me Zoe tightened her grip of my hand as she too was starting to get mad at them.
