《The Egotistical Ruler [DROPPED]》Chapter 7: The Second Early Wave II
Advertisement
I'm having some heartburn right now so without further ado chapter 7:
Quest: A Drunken Vindication
Difficulty: D
Time Limit: Until your next death
Tom the drunk was telling the truth and monsters are lined up ready to attack the village. Their numbers are 10 times more than the previous attack. Go back to the village and warn them of imminent attack. Quickly the monster horde has already noticed you and sent 1/10 of their forces to take you out.
Reward: Increased reputation and familiarity with the villagers, another quest
Failure: Your death
Effects of failure: The Village of Sicheren Untergang shall be attacked while they're too drunk to respond and no sentries to warn them. The village will be destroyed with no survivors and will become a dungeon/monster nest.
'Such awful effects of failure again but wait sh*t they already noticed me. Sh*t my armour is weakened too and I have no backup so I'll die.'
Emperor quickly funneled his unused skill points into strength in order to remove his movement restriction on his armour. Then he ran off towards the village(More like hobbled since the restriction was reduced to 75% not 0%). He heard barking all around him and a few roars.
Courage stat managed to negate fear debuff
'Sweet I'm so OP'
Just then a wolf jumped past him and slid. It turned around and growled at him while cutting off his path.
-Bull Charge
Emperor charged at the wolf but it dodged out of the way. Emperor charged past the wolf and kept going at a very fast speed. It took all of his strength to dodge the trees everywhere and keep his balance. It stressed him mentally and physically. To distract himself he had a few idle thoughts.
'How did they notice me anyways, Tom was there and they didn't notice him despite his claims to the contrary.'

Emperor then looked down at the rabbit guts all over his armour and started laughing while running.
'The skill before said strength is needed to control this skill so that must be why this is easier than before but still excruciating.'
Emperor then ran through the clearing with the rabbits or what was left of them and tripped over the same exact root and slid a few meters. Emperor picked himself up and started running again but not before looking behind and seeing some wolves eating the rabbits. They then noticed him and started giving chase once again.
'Oww that hurts like hell but I gotta keep going. They're eating the rabbits it seems I got lucky since they gave chase from smelling those rabbits so finding the bodies distracted them.'
Emperor then noticed the wolves were quickly gaining on him and one looked ready to pounce.
-Bull Charge
Skill leveled up
Emperor gained some distance but wasn't in the luxury to check behind himself.
'I guess this skill is meant for fighting but it can be used this way too, it seems it gives experience to it too but not as much as using it to attack.'
Thanks to Emperor leveling the skill and the forest starting to thin up a little he didn't trip again. The strain on him was much less too and he considered stopping(aka hitting a tree to take less damage than tripping since he can't deactivate the skill) since he felt like he lost them. But decided against it when he heard some howling in the distance.
All of a sudden the forest cleared up and Emperor sighed in relief but decided to keep the skill out until he reached the village gates. But all of a sudden a wolf jumped in front of him and charged at him.

Skill use successful, Double Critical hit, Level up
Before Emperor could even process what happened they collided headfirst but Emperor's charge overwhelmed the wolf. Emperor instinctively jerked his head up instantly snapping the neck of the wolf and killing it. The wolf dissipated leaving behind loot including the wolf's head.
Emperor picked it all up and headed for the village gate not being finicky about touching a severed head.
'It seems the way things die determine what is left behind and the quality of it. That wolf must of circled around the others smartly but his efforts earned him a fatality. I don't hear anything else so I'll walk the rest of the way, I have no desire to crash into the gate.'
After reaching the village gate Emperor reached out to open the gate. Suddenly the gate opened before he could touch it slamming into him and CLIFFHANGER
There you go, also while writing this I burped a few times and the heartburn went away.

Re: (Union//Incarnation)
Two years ago, a meteor fell and decimated the southeastern lands of Gaia, turning them into wastelands constantly shrouded in white fog. None of those who saw the blazing calamity with their own eyes lived to tell the tale, and those who attempted to venture in never came back. Since then, towers, caverns, and ruins have appeared and disappeared without a pattern. Those who were brave enough to venture in were rewarded with a partner capable of defying the natural laws as humanity knows it. People started to call them ‘Incarnation’, and before long, more and more Incarnation were gathered and sold as commodity, especially after a billionaire has sponsored a fighting tournament offering cash prizes to those possessing the strongest Incarnation, spurring the greedy and desperate to hunt for the fabled creatures at the cost of their lives. Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains. It was a chance, a chance to participate in the tournament and live without worrying about survival. Yet, something nagged in the back of her mind. Why did she look so familiar? Planned release schedule: One chapter every day for Mon-Fri, and a break on Sat-Sun. The release will slow down at some point, but most likely won't go under 3 chapters a week.

I'm writing day by day without plan nor any idea of where the story is going and I'll be making no effort of editing or proofreading until I'm done with the story if ever. Be warned. War and violence were everywhere, and the people suffered until one day the death lord had enough. Breaking a long-standing alliance with the Life lord, they killed him and resurrected him as a pawn. Before long, all but the fire lord were puppets under their rule, but the people rejoiced as war was all but finished... … but it was not to be. The death lord grew old. By the time of their final victory, they were already at death door with the armies of the fallen lord still disputing their heritage. Desperate to take things under control before his final demise, a ritual was conceived, one to transform the dying lord into an undying lich.
