Jonathan wasn’t the type of person to believe rumours, especially any of the ones Eddie told him. When they were in the 5th grade, Eddie told him that the man who lived two houses down the road was a vampire when it turned out that he was just a man who worked the graveyard shift. Later on, in the 8th grade, Eddie told him that the girl he liked, Annie, had no boyfriend and that she liked Jonathan. One very long afternoon and a black eye later, Jonathan found that this wasn’t the case.

Nevertheless, Eddie was his best friend, so when Eddie told him that the girl who moved in next door to Eddies’ house a month ago liked Jonathan, Jonathan still tried his luck with her even though he had a scar over his eye from the whole Annie situation. To his and admittedly, Eddies’ surprise, Marie accepted his advances.

For their 1st date Jonathan decided to take Marie to the local cinema; The Accordion, to watch the latest movie in the Cliffjumper series. His uncle ran the cinema and was able to get 3rd row tickets in return for cleaning out his uncles garage. On the way back from what he hoped was a good date; Jonathan got brave and decided to reach for her hand, surprising her in a pleasant way. After blushing for a minute or so, Jonathan decided to bring her closer.

He wasn’t really confident in his ability but after the date, he wanted to kiss her anyway. While leaning in for the kiss, a blue light glowed around him, he got a sinking feeling and all he saw after that was darkness.
