Hey all! I'm sorry to those that do not like how I am doing things but I'm trying to make this as best as I possibly can. The original or old Aliad had too many problems that I couldn't easily solve with flashbacks. That being said, I hope you all can please be patient as I try to get us all back up to speed to it. Thank you all for supporting me and I hope to see you all as I write Aliad - Tale of Zed.
Enough sappiness... PR Credits to ShadowMouse and thank you to all for reading! Hope you all enjoy this chapter!

I was woken up by a light outside of my room. I was dreaming of all the races of Arun and me having to take a test on it.
There were Humans and Avans, Elves, Dwarves, Beastmen, and Draconians that lived here. Humans were separated into humans without wings and those with wings called, Avan. The differences is that Avans had small lithe bodies and feathery wings of all colors behind them. Avans were known for their aerial combat capabilities. Humans were known for their ingenuity and perseverance.
Elves were separated into High Elves, Dark Elves, and Blood Elves. High Elves were adept at magic and usually had blonde hair and fair skin. Dark Elves were secretive, ritualistic and usually had pale white skin, red eyes, and white hair. Blood Elves were bloodthirsty just as their name suggests as well as war crazy and were distinguished by their muscular bodies and red hair. Of course the most common trait among all the elves were their pointed ears.
Dwarves were separated into Mountain Dwarves, Dark Dwarves and Stone Dwarves. Mountain Dwarves were short muscular humans, they were known for their ingenuity in metals as well as trading. Dark Dwarves were different only in their dark skin and their prowess with magic. Stone Dwarves were dwarves whose skin could turn into actual stone whenever they wished. Their defensive abilities as well as their attunement to the earth was what gave rise to this condition. Even if they weren’t mages who specialized in earth magic it would still affect them.
Beastmen were a tribal group. They are merely animals with humanoid bodies. This makes them stronger in physical strength but because of their animalistic temperament, they are less intelligent than the other races.
Draconians were a proud and secretive group but not much is known about this race. There were rumors that they were capable of changing their form into any creature they want.
As I got up from my four poster bed with dark green tapestry, my butler, Sebas came in. Just as usual, he was wearing a white long sleeved shirt with a black vest and black pants. There was a dangle of a chain on his right pocket, his pocket watch that he always had. On his face was a calm and solemn expression that I always saw. He was 45 right now, his hair which was black now is white but it is still combed and neat. His white moustache too was styled nicely. No one else knew me like Sebas and it will be a shame to know that I won’t be able to see him again.

Today was my affinity test, I had always been fascinated by magic and really wanted to be able to use magic. The books I read before said that magic was in everyone but it depends on the person’s mana if they will be able to use it. As a prince of the Rigel Kingdom who leads the strongest magic knights, I’m sure that I will be able to use magic.
Sebas greeted me and proceeded to start changing my clothes. I stopped him and said in a high pitched voice, “I’ll be leaving soon, I need to be able to handle myself.”
He nodded and I changed my own clothes for the first time. Having Sebas change my clothes was nice and all but I didn’t want to continue relying on him.
“All the servants are currently making sure that the castle is able to receive all of the nobles as well as the royal families or emissaries of the Lunaria Federation, Mustashum Empire, Luna’tesh Kingdom and the Gunterra Kingdom,” said Sebas as he poured me a drink from a decanter that was on top of a desk.
“The elves and the dwarves are coming?” I asked excitedly.
“Yes, your royal father invited everyone from the Lunaria continent as he was sure that you are a genius,” he said with a grin.
It was true, during the last two years that I was being taught I excelled very much but I also did have problems. Physical activities were difficult on me as my body had some sort of defect that none of the palace healers could do anything about. Because of this defect, I have been investing my ability in knowledge. I amazed my teacher, Alicia, about my ability in retaining knowledge as well as asking the hardest of questions.
When my father found that out, my lessons were then turned into debates. I was stumped rarely as I was still too young and I couldn’t reason the right way but other than those rare times, I was more than capable.
“We especially know that you are looking forward to this day,” said Sebas as he grinned a knowing grin.
I had just put on my black pants, I had finished putting on my black long sleeved collared shirt with red lining a short while ago, when I saw that grin. Immediately I knew that everyone in the castle knew about my late night studying. I started to panic a little as it was tradition that I knew nothing about magic before I took the test.
“Do not worry my prince, only the royal family knows,” Sebas said to comfort me.
Having my fears allayed for a bit I asked, “How much do they know?”
“Everything,” he said as I fixed my clothes to look more proper, “Breakfast is ready and the royal family awaits.”

I tense up knowing that my mother hated anyone being late to eat with the family if everyone was capable of doing so which today was and asked, “Am I the last one?”
“Yes but since it is your day, Queen Elizabeth had allowed you to sleep in, nonetheless it is not good to keep them waiting.”
“Okay,” I said after I looked at the mirror and saw myself for the first time today. I had silver hair, gold eyes and bronze skin. My face was clear of any blemishes but I could see from my body that I was very weak. Even my older brothers had a much larger size in body than I did at the same age.
The corridor outside my room was lavish. There were paintings of my ancestors lined up in every other section of the wall separated by marble columns. The floor was made of some blue tiles that easily accented the marble columns. A door would appear after every minute of walking until I reached the end which led to a railing overlooking a courtyard. I turned right and slowly descended the violet colored carpet that filled the whole staircase. The staircase rounded to the left as it slowly led me down into the courtyard. Reaching the courtyard I turned left and into the Great Hall. This Hall was decorated with armor instead of old paintings. At the end of the hall was a door that led to the throne room. I turned left at the crossroad before the throne room and headed to the Dining hall. I stopped and let Sebas announce that I was here and entered.
Inside was a giant hall, lavishly decorated with pink and some white pink. The red curtains were parted revealing the Great plains of Lunaria that the Rigel Kingdom was located in. The chandeliers were blinking as the light of dawn reflected from them. In the center was a round table filled with food obviously made for the nobility as other than being plentiful was also made with care to the presentation. My whole family was sitting, nearest to where I entered was my older sister, Alexandra, she was the youngest of my three older sisters. She had silver hair and bronze skin like I did but her eyes were black. She’s fifteen this year and she wants to be a priestess of the gods. She had on her black priestess robe and a star necklace around her neck. My parents wouldn’t let her be one apparently but they relented when they found out that my sister had a gift for healing magic.
“Morning Zed,” she said to me with a smile.
“Morning runt,” said my older brother, the second prince, Salazar Rigel. He was seated next to my sister. He had black hair, gold eyes, and was fair skinned. He was lean but not that muscular. His hair spiked up like mine and had an unkempt beard. He wore a blue long sleeved collared shirt with a bunch of medals and black pants and shoes.
“Don’t call him that,” snapped my oldest brother, the crown prince, Leon Rigel. He was seated across Alexandra. He had silver hair, brown eyes and bronze colored skin. He was more muscular than Salazar. He wore a black long sleeved shirt with red lining as well as a complimenting black pants with a sword on his left hip on a red scabbard.
“Morning Zed,” said my twin older sisters who sat in between my two older brothers. They were Eustasia and Serephine. They both looked the same but also were easy to tell apart. Both had white hair and gold eyes but Eustasia had bronze colored skin while Serephine had fair skin. Eustasia had long flowing hair while Serephine had short hair. They both were lean like Salazar but not as muscular. They both wore easy to move in clothing. As much as it displeased my father. They both wore leather clothes that were neat enough to be able to look presentable in them. Eustasia had a black and red leather clothes while Serephine had black and gold leather clothes. Leaning next to their seats are their trusty rapiers.
“Good morning my son,” said my mother, Queen Elizabeth. She was the most beautiful person that I have ever met. She had black hair, brown eyes and fair skin. She wore a dark pink dress that was embroidered with gold trimmings and linings. She was a commoner from what I hear.
“Good morning Zed,” said a rough but gentle voice that belonged to my father, King Aaron. He was large, broad shouldered and muscular. He had an essence of someone you did not want to mess with yet was kind and gentle. His eyes were gold colored, his hair silver and his skin was bronze. He wore a silver and gold long sleeved shirt as well as black pants.
“Good morning everyone,” I said after everyone greeted me. I then walked to my seat to the left of father and began eating breakfast. I really loved this atmosphere with my family. I knew of the troubles outside my home and hoped that I could do something about it as I wanted to share this peace with everyone.

Smoking Bandits
With a gaze that was hard to describe, Lark stared at his body in the mirror. Not his body as a human, but his other body. Head of a reptile with rows of sharp teeth, a 180 cm tall body that is full of muscles, covered in scales formed green and black tiger stripes. Clawed hands and feet, with a tail strong enough to crush an adult neck. 'Man. . . can I still be called a human?' In the end, with a deep sigh Lark changed his form back into a human. A moment later, he came out of the room wearing a combat dress, tactical belt with shoulder strap, and jungle boots. While inserting a magazine into an AK-102, Lark muttered. 'Whatever, time to hunt Orcs.' *****

The Anthology
This is my collection of short stories. I ask what stories would my audience like to read and write whatever they post in the comments. I strive for more than two dimensional characters and I like to make my stories somewhat unique. The first six entries are my experiment to just write without stopping and see what comes out. They can serve as an introduction for the reader to me as a thinker and writer. Although it should be known that the majority of those entries were written in a foggy state of mind. Entry seven is where my short stories begin.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
