《G.E.A.R - The Study Of Nanomana》Chapter 6

Chapter 6
[Review: The study of nanomana on Earth differs greatly than Fiore’s study. This may be attributed to the fact that Earth was fully concentrated on the study of nanomana while Fiore studied the manipulation of nanomana energy {Mana}. Because of lack of resources, Earth is inferior in regards to mana compared to Fiore, but unlike Earth, Fiore is incapable of accessing the vast amount of power from a single nanomana. Instead, they control the trace amounts that are emitted from nanomana particles.]
Concluding his report, Gear continued to view the movements of the mana around him. To others, it would look as if he was lazily staring into space.
“Mana can be manipulated, but why do magicians need to use spells to cast magic?”
Gear saw people use magic in everyday chores, but all of them needed to use chants and words to activate the magic. Honestly, his area of movement was greatly restricted to the area around the orphanage.
If he wanted to, he could’ve left the orphanage, but for some inexplainable reason, he felt no desire to leave the orphanage.
“Is it my human side? Impossible, I am not human.”
Shaking his head, Gear stood up and left the room. Walking down the hallway, a group of children passed by him. All of them were human.
The orphanage is not well off enough to pay for each children to go through a coming-of-age ceremony. These children will never receive the benefits of evolution, and will never easily rise in society.
Walking past them, Gear went outside. He noticed that there were visitors today, and they were someone he recognized.
“Oh, hey Gear! It’s us!”
Yes, it was the trio who found him. Walking over, Gear gave a light greeting to the waving Kathy.

“Hello, what are you all doing here?”
“Oh, we came to check on you. I mean, we were the ones who found you.”
“Aw Wolfe, you do have a caring heart after all.”
“S-Shut up!”
“So Trey, let’s ignore the idiot couple here and chat for a bit.”
“WHO’S AN IDIOT COUPLE!!!”
Going past them, Trey and Gear left the bickering duo behind. Sitting down on a few stumps, Trey spoke.
“So Gear, how’s life?”
“It’s pretty nice here, even though I only stayed for a few days.”
“…I’ll get to the point, what do you remember about being in the forest.”
“…” Gear knew that the only reason that they did not ask this before was because his language skills were not developed enough to give information.
“…I do know how I got here. Where I came from, there were towering buildings and there were crowds of people walking down the street. Lights flashed everywhere, even at night. Technology was more advanced than a rural area like this, and schools would release children to go home and eat their meals.”
Listening to Gear’s vague description, Trey slightly frowned. Some parts of what Gear said stood out. First, schools only allow the rich to enter. Second, towering buildings usually mean the capital of Fiore, as they are the most advanced in construction.
“Thank you. I think I know where to take you.”
“?”
Ignoring the confused look on Gear, Trey stood up. Walking over to the still bickering duo, he grabbed the scruff of their necks.
“Alright, both of you cut it out.” Easily lifting them, he tossed them over his shoulders.
“Hey let me go!”
“Grr, this is so humiliating.”
“Hey guys, I think the kid is from the capital.”

“…do you think we can get some cash if we send him to the guild.”
“No, if he’s supposed to be dead, sending him to the capital would kill him.”
“I don’t think it’s safe for him to stay in the country. If they intended to leave him for dead, then if they find out that he’s still alive, they’ll kill him.”
“…I was thinking of sending him to the academy.”
“The academy? You mean the Royal Academy?”
“Of course not! I mean Emerald Academy.”
“You want to send him there! Isn’t that rushing things a bit? That place is ruthless to the weak. If he’s really a Jirokara, then he won’t survive.”
“…actually there’s a good reason I think that he’s not as simple as you think. You know that when I went through the ceremony, I became a Treant right. I am able to easily sense life, and each lifeform has a unique energy in their body. Gear, however, has a huge amount of energy running through his body. In a fight, he may be able to outlast us.”
“What! Does he have that much mana?”
“No… it isn’t mana. His soul is abnormally powerful. The only way to have a powerful soul is if the body is capable of housing it. As far as I know, only dragons have the same amount of soul power Gear has.”
A shocked expression from the two prompted Trey to continue.
“If he goes to Emerald Academy, they can protect him to some extent. Also, since we graduated from Emerald Academy, we can easily meet him any time. I believe that he’ll become a great person in the future, and it’s best to form connections with him now.”
“…you say so many things. Alright, but I don’t really see how he can be so strong.”
“Remember, he might be hiding his strength. Don’t ask him about it.”

Arcane Regeneration
Transported to another world, with a system that lets you take your fate into your own hands. Inside a dungeon, who knows how far away from human civilization, where the only way out is through. Join Noah in his desperate struggle and find out what this new world has in store for him. I am REALLY bad at synopses. What I will aim for in my story: 1. Logical choices 2. Good character development ( first story, might mess it up :D ) 3. I have epic plans for the future (not an actual aim but just saying :D ) What I will avoid like the plague: 1. Characters' IQ suddenly dropping just to further the story. 2. Whimpy main character 3. Stupid situations that can be avoided by basic communication and clearing things up. All in all, no generic trash anime protagonist and stereotypes. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Editor's Note: Someone disable his permission to edit the draft on UnityDocs, please! Hello, I'm McKing and I aim to write an original story with elements I've never seen put together before. Feel free to point out any mistakes you see — I'm not a native speaker, so I'm sure a few will pass me by. Sci-fi; Humor; (Brazilian) Urban Fantasy; faint shades of LitRPG. **Be warned it has a bit of an (absurd) slice-of-life beginning though the story is being subtly (I hope) worked on and eventually shifts gears (a bit). I planned to say that from the beginning, but I forgot to add it.** I hope that you enjoy it and that I can grow as a writer with your contributions. No Fixed Update Schedule. My inspiration comes in bursts and so will the Chapters. Sorry if that displeases you (I love regular updates too), but I'm afraid that's the best I can do for now. Keep in mind that it is a work in progress and things can eventually change a bit - I'll try to always note the changes. Sorry for the bad cover, it was the best my sorry skills could do! I hope you enjoy it,Mcking
