《Echoing Call Of Loneliness》Chapter 14

The group plus their newest companion swims/scuttles around aimlessly, trying to figure out where they should go next.
As things get loud between them, Jackson reluctantly cuts in, "What about the Inbetween?"
Prince Eric stops in front of them, basically shining with enthusiasm, seemingly vibrating with excitement," I've heard stories about the In between! It's the place between cozy, glowing light and total, complete darkness. It is said that only horrible beasts live there, and anyone who travels there, never comes back."
A scoff was heard behind them, Herman gives them a pointed look in annoyance, "So it would be completely suicidal and stupid to go there."
Everyone stares at him in surprise, Jackson speaking up after a few moments of silence," Wait a minute, you actually believe these stories?"
The smaller merman of the bunch becomes flustered, his face turns a light red, and he sputters out a response, "W-well, I know some honest people!"
The rest of the group gives him a sceptical look, Prince Eric crossing his arms with a raised brow, "Uh-huh."
Herman becomes flustered, his face turns a light red, and he turns around, deciding to just scuttle away. The others followed after, the conversation still going.
"So you guys think the other sirens left to the In between? "Kasper asks, still curious as ever.
"I meean, it does make sense." The prince of the sea states, the grumpiest of them gives them side-eye while they talk.
The octopus mer nods in agreement, "It is the one place no one dares to look."
Herman stops, turns back around with an eye roll," Well, the Inbetween is due northeast."
Prince Eric swims quickly over to the obviously reluctant fire shrimp merman, picking him up and spinning around with him, stopping suddenly with a confused look on his face," Hold on, you're coming with us?"

Herman shrugs with a small smile," Someone 'as to keep you knuckleheads out of trouble.''
Everyone cheers, heading due northeast with excited chatter of what is to come.
Days that seem like a month pass by like a blur; the landscape changing from vast open ocean to wide fields of velvet looking seaweed that any passerby would love to sleep on. Their irritation, and anxiousness quelled by boisterous stories from the Sturonian prince, or warm, filling meals made by Jackson - but the group's company and the anticipation makes travel easier for the young explorers. They were finally there at the edge of the Inbetween, the eeriness from staring at it sent shivers through the mermen's spines.
The eight tentacled mer gulped, his limbs quivering, "W-well, we're here."
The enchanting siren swims forward, a tug, and the warm feeling of home washing over him, "They're here, I can feel it."
"Aaand, I just remember I gotta do something.", the red and white haired merman started to slowly back away, obviously a nervous wreck.
Prince Eric grabs him before he could run away, giving him a disappointed look, "Oooh no you don't, I thought you wanted to stay to keep us knuckleheads out of trouble."
Herman chuckles nervously, shrugging then ends it with a defeated sigh, "Fine...but if things get hairy out 'ere, I'm outta 'ere!"
Not being able to wait any longer, the young siren ventures forward with the rest of them following behind in a panic. They could barely see anything, the only light that was emitted was from Kasper. It was the eerie glow of bioluminescence, splotches of it trailing from his tail to his upper body in varying sizes. The whole group stares in awe.
He notices that everyone has stopped, turning around, and he becomes uncomfortable at the staring, "Is something wrong?"

Jackson leans over to the prince, whispering to him behind his hand, "Did you know they did that?"
Prince Eric shakes his head, doing the same, "Noo idea."
Herman breaks the awkwardness, speaking loudly."Holy hell, you're a livin' night light!"
They float there shocked then one of them sighs while the other hits the blunt merman upside the head.
The mysteriously beautiful siren laughs, feeling less awkward, "I guess I forgot I did that, I don't like to dwell in places like these."
The group of mermen shake it off, moving more into the Inbetween. Though this adventure is only half way trekked, there seems like there is always more to experience.

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.

GLADIUS // Eret X Reader
PHANTASM SERIES BOOK 4---Gladius, (noun): (in ancient Rome) a short sword.---Eret perked up as soon as you and Simon walked into the room, a wide and welcoming smile coming onto his face. He was softer looking than his father had been, but you could still see some of the similar traits. He had a head of thick dark curls, and the same sharp jaw that his father had had. He wasn't as bulky though - he was tall and thin - and his face was a lot more open. What separated him most from his father's likeness though was the colorful cape, and the large mirrored glasses he wore - swirling with colors reflected from the room. He stood from his seat when Maven let the doors swing shut behind her, that wide smile still on his face. "You must be the embassy.""And you must be King Eret." You said, stooping into a bow. "Oh, there's no need for that." Eret said as you rose from your bow. He stepped down from the dias where his throne sat - colorful cape trailing behind him - and came to stand in front of you, taking your hand instead. "I'm not really one for formalities." He grinned, shaking your hand. His palm was warm against yours, and you could feel some slight callouses - most likely from practicing his sword work.
