"More Than Just A Cute Girl"
[Narrator’s Perspective]
No words can describe how wrong I was.
*KA-BOOM!!!!*
As Arpie High is engulfed in flames, it didn’t take long for Belly to realize that this was a terrorist attack by one of the bandit armies of the Demon King. As Belly lied there on the floor helplessly with the legendary sword, Shooting Star, in his hand, he couldn’t think of anything else besides wanting to run away.
But he couldn’t move, all he could do was stare. However, that isn’t something new. Since he was a but a small child, that is all he has ever been able to do, just stare and watch in fear doing nothing.
Other students begin crying for help.
“Whe- Where are the teachers?!?!”
“Someone, call the knights to save us!!!”
*STOMP!!*
A muscular bandit at the top of the golden palace overlooking everyone answers instead.
“WAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You bunch of WHINY little kids!! We’ve killed them ALL!! And now, you are next!!! The entire Kingdom of Mythica shall kneel before the one and only DEMON KING!!!!”
As crowds of people run pass Belly on the ground, a swarm of white dragons storm the mountain.
*RAAAWR!!!*
Tears begin to overflow Belly’s eyes, “I have to- I need to runaway!! Ca- Cassandra! P- P- Please come save me!!!”
He’s completely lost all hope. As Belly starts crawling away, unable to properly stand and control his body, he hears the sound of distant swords clashing against one another.
*Shing! Klank! Pow!!*
Belly turns around, and all he could see was Joshua and other kids stand up against the bandits and their dragons. Some of these kids were mages with staffs at hand, others looked like vikings and some even looked like pirates. This world has all sorts of warriors.

But again, all Belly could do was stare. He clenches his hand holding Shooting Star, angry at himself for not doing anything to help them.
He again whispers to himself, “I have to… run away. Who am I kidding? I’ll only get in the way of them.”
He remembers the times everyone in class made fun of him for being too weak and unable to carry a sword.
“I- I should’ve stayed home.”
He remembers Joshua and his friends bullying him for wanting to be a knight like Little Red Riding Hood.
“They were right. I really am- I really am nothing like my brother!!”
*KLANG!!- POW!!!”
Joshua, with just the might of his edgy sword, blows away multiple bandits at once not that far from Belly.
“Huh??”
Joshua lands on his feet, turns his head towards Belly and yells, “You fucking loser!!! My God, you really are a disgrace!!! Did you really think you would ever be like your brother??”
“Ju- Joshua?!”
Joshua leaps away onto his next victims. Belly can feel his heartbeat again, and remembers Cassandra’s words.
Don’t you want to prove everyone who bullies you wrong?
Another scream is heard in the distance.
“KYAAAAAHHH!!! Please, somebody, save me!!”
Belly quickly glances over at whoever is crying for help, and he couldn’t believe his eyes.
Oh no! Tha- That girl! Cely!!
Cely with her wand at hand is protecting two kids lying on the ground completely terrified, while being surrounded by three white dragons looking hungry for the delicious snack inside a bubble.
Cely is shaking, struggling to keep her compusre, but she still manages to look back at the people she’s defending with an innocent smile.
“Du- Don’t- Don’t worry! I puh- puh- promise, I will be your knight in shining armor!”

Belly clenches his teeth and tries his best to stand, but all he can do is kneel, using his sword as a crutch.
I have to save her. I have to save everyone.
The ball of light begins to shine erratically more so than ever before. This ball of light which is a manifestation of all the love and courage that was once inside Belly’s heart.
He looks straight at the bandit’s eyes.
I won’t let you hurt anyone anymore!! Because one day, I’m going to become the greatest knight in the kingdom!!
The bandit does nothing but smile and laugh cynically.
Belly puts his head down and whispers to himself, “Your Knight in Shining Armor…”
These words trigger a memory in Belly. And in this memory, as a little boy, he’s struggling to even pick up Shooting Star while his brother, Anthony, stands behind him,
And in a squeaky voice, he cries, “I- I can’t do dis, Tony!! I’m not strong enough to hold dah sword!! I’m- I’m not you! Everyone at school, and even our family doesn’t think I will ever be like you!”
As Belly slowly stands in the present, he continues remembering this lost memory, but then a titanic blue-eyes white dragon the size of a mountain descends from the sky and lands on the academy’s massive campus, completely crushing the ground beneath it, and causing an earthquake that can be felt for miles.
******RRRRROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*******
Now, more than ever, people are running away pass Belly in chaos.
You- you seriously have got to be kidding me!! Can this get any worse??
As the dragon properly stand over the particapants, Belly notices that it's taken Cely.
But she wasn't screaming. Her eyes were just overflowing with tears, wanting so desperately for someone to save her. And at this moment, her gaze met Belly’s.

Grin the Cheat
There was a time when heroes roamed between the Four Great Cities. They fought for kingdoms and princesses and they lived and died by their valour. Or so the stories say. The way the minstrels sing it, everyone had a swashbuckling good time. Nowadays, buckles are rarely swashed. All the great beasts have been slain, all the great treasures unearthed. Princesses are few and far between — the ones worth fighting over, anyway — and the kingdoms have been divvied up between the sons of sons of sons of the heroes of old. No valour required. Frankly, the hero business is in a sorry state. Luckily for Grin the Cheat, thieving and murder are thriving as usual. If you have a moment, please vote for this story at Top Web Fiction.
