《HERO CHRONICLES:》BK2; Chapter 63: [ War of the Myth ]

Likewise, Apollo beside her couldn’t help but also smile but his was a strained and bitter one.
“Damn it! No other choice…”
“Well, if you choose to withdraw for now, we won’t attack…”
Annoyed, Hades shrugged his shoulders at Athena’s suggestion.
“Quite a generous offer for a goddess of war but I cannot comply with that!”
“If that’s the case, then you leave us no choice. We will strike you down!”
“If you can that is! Cerberus, Othros use the [Curse of Death]! Now!!”
As if waiting for a cue, two monster dogs appeared near Hein’s ashes location.
Hein might be reborn from his ashes but if Cerberus put even a little bit of the fluid from the vial he was biting to the ashes then a [Curse of Death] will be transferred.
That is what Hades is planning.
Normal People with [Curse of Death] will always end up dead.
However, if they were gods they will always be in the brink of death. Their life force would always diminish as if something is sucking it from the inside of their body until they’re body grew weak and eventually die.
“I won’t let you!!” As if reading Hades plans, Flora madly rushed towards the two monster dogs.
Damn it! I won’t let you touch Hein again!!
Flora gritted her pearl white teeth as she rushed towards the monster dogs, intending to stop it.
Behind her was two flying figures; Apollo and Freyr, they too was intending to stop the impending danger towards Hein. Athena and the monkey king on the other hand have already entered a fight with Hades.
But Flora didn’t care about them; she only cared about charging forward.
The four [Devil] Spirits couldn’t block the two monster dogs because of the dark shadow under their feet that suddenly appeared, allowing a group of skeletons and shades to pass through and restrict their movements.
The [Devils] tried to desperately break away but unfortunately, the more shades pass through them, the weaker they body became.
Flora could only stare and watch as the last chance to block the monster dogs passes by her eyes.
The color of despair clouded her vision.
She felt that all she had done up till now was completely destroyed by this one strike.
Hein couldn’t be saved anymore.
She wouldn’t be able to win even if they killed the two monsters or Hades after they put the curse to him. [Curse of Death] is a very dangerous kind of curse that even the gods feared.
Created from the poison of the evil serpent, no matter which they are, they will surely die. Even if they choose to die and reincarnate, they will still suffer from it in their next lives. [Curse of Death] after all affect the soul not the body.
With the [Devil] spirits trapped, no one can stop them now.
For the despair in front of them…
“DDDDAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM IIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!”
A scream full of despair.
But at that moment,
Bang!
The two monsters were sent flying away by a kick.
Yes, the two monster dogs who were baring their fangs towards a pile of ash were sent flying by a kick in their faces by a tall handsome man who landed elegantly in front of Hein’s remains.

“………………………………….”
Complete silence.
Even the fighting was stopped as they turned their gazes to the new ‘intruder’ who appeared in the nick of time.
Casting everything aside, the gods present widened their eyes in surprised.
“Prometheus!”
Hades shouted on the new ‘intruder’ or maybe god, in rage.
The man turned his head and looked at Hades with eyes filled with disdain, revealing his handsome features.
“Hades, I warned you not to touch my brother!” The man spoke in a cold tone.
“Tsk” Hearing his words, Hades clicked his tongue in displeasure.
“I leave this thing for now but if you dare touch my brother again, I will kill you.”
“””Prometheus!””” “Loki!”
Hearing someone called his name; the man softens his expression as he cast his eyes towards the people around him.
“Long time no see, everyone~ Hm? Oh if it’s not my dear friend, Freyr. How’s your sister? Hope she is okay~ Anyway, Freyr I prefer the name ‘Prometheus’ so kindly used that~
Prometheus smiled, unabashed, even as Athena and Apollo stared at him dangerously.
“My dear Athena, killing that old geezer is also kind of my own revenge you know. Being chained in a rock where an eagle will eat your liver during the day is a very distasteful punishment if I say so myself. If not for the hero Hercules, I would have endured that painful torture for long period of time… so you can’t blame me for it~”
Hmpf. With a strained expression, Athena glared at him without saying anything.
There were currently two gods from the evil group [Demon Lord] present.
However, Athena ignored the scowling Hades, only staring intently at Prometheus alone. Her eyes filled with fighting spirit, nobility and pride.
Prometheus too quietly looked back at the young girl in turn while smiling as if he found the goddess of wisdom amusing.
Countless sparks appeared between them as their aura clashed in the air.
However, this was stopped by a single sound.
Ba-dump!
Everyone present heard a noise, one that everyone was familiar with, yet normally not aware of.
The especially loud sound of a heart beating endlessly.
This should’ve been normal for even the gods have their hearts beating but at this moment, an indescribable phenomenon happened.
The pile of Ash produced a beating sound.
It was so loud that everyone in the vicinity can heard it. Hades frowned his eyebrows upon hearing that.
On the contrary, Flora and the four [Devil] spirits eyes were filled with hope, their body trembling.
Ba-dump!
… After a few minutes, no one move nor say anything, then the Ash started to burn. Red flames floated in the air and then stopped 10 meters above the ground. It then curled into a ball of flames.
Such fantastical phenomenon left awe in every god’s heart as they quietly watched. Even the normally mischievous monkey king couldn’t help but stare at the ball of flames with sparkling eyes.
After a few moments, everyone could see something inside the ball of flames, making the gods speechless.
— it was a baby.
A baby was inside a ball of fire, as if it were inside a womb.

Cracked!
The ball of flames cracked and then the baby inside it fell in the ground, making the anxious [Devil] spirits not far away from it became so scared silly and frantically moved to catch it.
Even Andrealphus, the peacock looking woman dived in the ground and used the kind of catching technique to save a basketball from being out of bounds as she reached out her two feathery hands to support the baby and desperately hugged it.
“Ugh-!?” Vapula who immediately dived like a dog pouncing on a bone, putting its body under Andrealphus, groaned.
Unfortunately it’s not only Andrealphus who fell but also three other girls squashing him down like a mountain.
Seeing this comical scene, no one dared to laugh. Flora even shrieked in horror when she saw the baby falling.
“How’s master!? Tell me how is he?” Asmoday who didn’t care about her body being squashed by two girl’s bodies frantically shouted.
“That’s right, how’s father?!” Iona shouted.
“He’s fine, probably …” Andrealphus who was hugging the baby desperately as if it was the most fragile thing in the world that even with one touch it might broke into pieces, answered.
“Like, what do you mean, probably? Like make sure his okay, you damn bird!” Ose frantically exclaimed.
“I know that without you even telling me you smelly cat!!”
“Like I’m not smelly!! Like don’t talk rubbish in front of master, you birdbrain!!”
“What’s that?! You–!”
“Shut up… both of you!… Check… master’s condition properly… right now!” Vapula who couldn’t endure their fighting finally spoke but his words were stammering because of the weight of the four girls crashing into him.
“That’s… he’s sleeping …” Andrealphus finally said, making the [Devil] spirit breath in relief.
“Now then, get out of there I’m dying here!” Vapula exclaimed after sighing in relief upon their master’s successful revival.
“””‘”Oh sorry~””””
Seeing their comical skit, not only Flora whose eyes became teary and moist as she fell in her knees while crying in relief; Apollo, Athena, and Prometheus also breathe a sigh of relief.
Only Hades had his face distorted in rage and hatred. When he tried to move his hands, Prometheus voice echoed in the place.
“Don’t move Hades, I’m warning you. If you try to hurt my brother again, I will let Fenrir taste your blood.”
With those words, Hades stopped. He then turned his fiery gaze towards him.
“You know it too, Prometheus. Your brother might be the one in the prophecy, he must die.”
“Whether he is the one or not, that doesn’t matter to me. Even if it’s you, I will still kill you if you try to touch him once again.”
“Prometheus, what are your goals? No, what is your group really wanted to do?” Athena asked.
“For me, nothing~ I only want to know the world’s fate. For the [Demon Lord], let see….”
“Stop Prometheus!”
“Well, it’s fine to tell them Hades after all; even if they want to stop it they couldn’t do it. They can only try~” Prometheus lips twisted into a savage grin.
Prometheus opened his hands widely and looked up to the sky. With a posture of a demon king, he majestically announced.
“Very well! In that case, listen well Gods of every Myth. The [Demon Lord] seek the revival of the true evil, the serpent that can swallow gods and start the next round of the [War of the Myth], Ragnarok!
As the one who will witness the fate of the world, I, Prometheus issue a declaration of war to every Myth in this world now known as [Pandora]!”
This declaration of war came from the lips of a god.
“Well then, pray tell… will you accept this challenge [Players of Myth]? A world where the objectives and rules were clear. Different Myths converged into one… what do you think?”
However—completely unaware of the entanglement in the hearts of every gods present, Prometheus said with a frivolous tone.
“From this instant! I, in behalf of the [Demon Lord] —will issue a proclamation, declaring war on every Myth still alive!”
Looking like he has the skies within his grasp, Prometheus pointed his hand to the horizon.
Then—tightly clenched his fist.
“Let the new Myth that stand above all the existing Myths narrates from now on!!”
The entire city fell silent.
New Myth!
Similar to being engraved in the heart, it kept echoing.
A new Myth that stands above all existing Myths.
The gods became rooted in their position. No one moved nor say anything.
—Then a sound leaked out from somewhere.
“Ungaaaaa, unga, unga, unga”
A newborn first cry.
As if accepting what the mad god was saying, the baby held by a [Devil] spirit suddenly woke up and cried.
Being only an infant, he could not comprehend what was happening. However, he must have sensed the surrounding atmosphere.
Athena, Apollo, Freyr, the monkey king and all the people in the surroundings glared at Prometheus, their expression pale and full of killing intent.
Seeing their unsightly expressions, Prometheus laughed.
“Ahahaha….please do not misunderstand. I am nobody’s side. If you won’t understand that, you’ll continue playing a stale game forever.
I am basically a spectator, a reader, never helping a particular side—I only want to witness whether this world will survive or not~ whether a new Hero will rise creating the greatest Myth of all~”
Facing all the gods that didn’t know how to react. Prometheus stood on the ground with an aloof expression.
[So what do you intend to do?] Prometheus, the self-proclaimed; Reader and a spectator had ended it off with a noncommittal shrug of his shoulders that seemed to imply his thoughts.
— —
Damn! That’s done! Book 2 of the Hero Chronicles finally comes to an end!!!
Now then players of Myth, please look forward for the third book!
… although, unfortunately, it seems like it would take quite some time because for now I want to focus on the Lore~
Well, please look forward to it guys and thank you for reading this. XD, I love you guys~

Living a Long Life as a Legend
Reincarnating into a game-like version of a medieval magical world was fine and all. A good blend of two enjoyable tropes. Lock wished he'd been born with a bunch of cheats sometimes, sure, but he could settle with being functionally immortal by abusing the system as well.
