CHAPTER 5 - ASTONISHMENT
Seeing the [Fire Ball] in front of me, I was overwhelmed.
My heart was beating faster and my blood was boiling.
Since when was the last time I felt this excitement to this level?
Ah... Right.
I remember feeling this surge of emotion when I was in my previous world.
It was the time when our team discovered a new star system. It was a very good news for us that we began to celebrate to our heart's content.
Then we began naming it's planets and satellites. The Federation has a law that whomever discovered a new star system has the privilege to name the entire system.
I remembered our names became famous and also engraved in a large monument in the Federation capital.
Now seeing this large ball of fire, this is very nostalgic.
Hmm, but why is it that I'm feeling a bit dizzy?
It's like my vision is spinning.
Aarrggh!
What is this stinging sensation inside my head?
I can feel my knees shaking. Like it can't longer support my upper body.
Before I knew it, I passed out.
------
A minute earlier...
-- Yufa's POV --
I let out a sigh as I closed the book that I was reading.
There were other five thick books in front of me but I have done reading all of them.
All of these books were borrowed by me from the Alliance's grand library. A popular place known by everyone who is acquainted with the Alliance.
Since I'm a Cleric Mage, I'm also one of those people associated with them.
But these books doesn't seem to hold the answer to what I was looking for.
The cure for Ragna's condition.
That child of mine... Ever since Ronan told him about his current situation, he's been secluding himself in his dad's study room.

Every time when I look at him, I could only see determination in his eyes instead of sadness and bitterness.
At that time I realized, he's strong.
Never yielding to fate's dictation.
That attitude of his got into me. Since I'm his mother, I decided to help him no matter what.
Speaking of Ragna, where is he?
I never saw him inside Ronan's study room. Maybe he went outside to play.
After all he's just a child. It's just normal for kids to play outside.
"Madam! Madam!"
Our head maidservant, Ethel came rushing to me in the living room with a cold sweat on her face.
Basing on this its like there was something wrong.
"What's wrong Ethel?"
"Madam... Ragna... At the backyard!"
Hearing the name of my son, I quickly leave the living room and went straight ahead to the backyard.
Did someone invaded our home? Did someone try to kidnapped my child?
If I saw them I won't be polite to them!
I would kill anyone who dares to lay a finger to my precious son.
But once stepped out on the backyard, I was speechless.
In front me was this big and huge ball of furnace. It was like a scorching sun face to face and below it was...
"Ragna?"
I was dumbfounded.
My child was there... laughing. His hands have this weird round-like lights encircling them.
Just what are those?
And why is that he seems to enjoy himself?
Then suddenly I saw him somewhat staggering, like a swaying branch.
The big ball of fire began to waver as if it cannot maintain its form.
*PAM*
Ragna collapsed in an instant.
I rushed toward him by instinct and held him in my hands.
I healed him immediately with my [Heal] skill.
As I looked at his face, there was a small hint of fulfillment on his face.
Just what on Hicara is going on?

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
