《From Max to Zero to God》Chapter 8- A Silent Silver chest

AWOOOO!
CLANG! TING! SLING!
A powerful gust blasted Kinuko, squeezing her eyes as the wind pushed her back. She opened her eyes, watching the swordsman battle with wide eyes. “Is he even human?” Han Ling was fighting 5 soldiers on his own, slashing faster than two soldiers combined. His blue swords slashing and thrusting, making the air around similar to the inside of a hurricane.
“GET LOST!” BOOM!
All five wolfmen were pushed back, arms raised and chests bare. Han Ling growled, and his muscles bulged as he slashed horizontally.
[LVL 2 Slash]

All five wolfmen were slashed, and their faces contorted as the pain came throbbing their minds. Han Ling then pulled both swords back, thrusting forward like a bullet.
[LVL 2 Thrust]

Two soldiers closest to him died instantly. His experience bar rising once again, fuelling his excitement. Even with three wolfmen swinging their swords down on him, he knew no retreat. The best defence is offence! Han Ling thrust his swords forward, stabbing two more wolfmen in the chest, but the last sword stabbed into his shoulder, yet his expression didn’t change in the slightest.
Kinuko gasped before attempting to heal Han Ling, but there was no need, as the sword clashed against the mana skin, making a loud metallic clang before the mana armour shattered. Han Ling grinned, yanking his swords out before stabbing them both into the wolfman’s chest.
The soldier wheezed, feeling the blood pool in his chest, as it weakly stared at the human.
Fear… A deep unspeakable fear embedded in the wolfman’s head. He felt those human eyes resembled the calm before the storm, a man who wandered the depths of hell.
[You have slain LVL 6 Wolf Soldier]
Han Ling breathed out, feeling the strength of a LVL 8 course through his body, enhancing his senses and strength. He turned to the left, watching another two wolf soldiers fall to the fists of the LVL 5 Brawler and the arrows of a LVL 5 Archer.

They’ve been hunting wolves for about a couple of hours, the party raised their levels as well as picked their share of the loot dropped by the soldiers. But the party didn’t feel like taking the loot since Han Ling could solo a large amount of soldiers, making them feel useless against the beasts.
Han Ling just need a couple hundred experience for his level to reach 10, where he will be a ranked swordsman. However, as he picked up the swords of fallen soldiers, he saw a glowing box beside one of them. Han Ling widened his eyes, picking it up with flashes of excitement written all over his face.
Shiki noticed a change in Han Ling’s expression and looked over the swordsman shoulder, seeing a silver chest on hi palm, no bigger than a tennis ball. “What’s that?”
Han Ling turned around, grinning from ear to ear, “This is a loot box, it works the same way as a Gacha system in games.” Han Ling explained as he took the lid of the box. A pure white ray of light shone into the forest, a loud trumpet sounded and a familiar tri-ring sounded.
[You have opened a Silent Silver chest]
[Rewarding player…]

Han Ling’s eyes bulged, finger shaking as he sent the party the list of rewards. Atsushi, Karin and Shiki gaped, shock and happiness evident on their faces. Atsushi leaped up and down like a little boy getting a new toy. Han Ling gave him the technique, watching him stare at the book with wide sparkling eyes. He chuckled as he passed the items to the new owners. Only Kinuko didn’t get anything, even when Han Ling offered the bag of coins to her she declined saying that Han Ling deserves it.

But Han Ling was staring at the Bloody Baron’s Blade in his hand. It was a beautiful blade, with a gleaming, glowing single edge blade. The handle was engraved with bats and snakes, a blood red ruby embedded in the middle.

[Expand/Collapse]
Is this fate?
In his past life, he used the same exact blade till LVL 40 earning the name Bloody Swordsman… Yet he obtained this sword much earlier than before. A full month before his exact meeting with this blade.
If I remember correctly… I obtained it in the dungeon of Lizardmen. Han Ling smiled. Should I say its lucky to obtain it so early?
But his thoughts ran into a stop.
AWOOO!!!
Wolf soldiers exploded from the bushes, dashing at the group with a mad glint in their eyes. They were Berserkers. Han Ling was the first to move, zooming forward to meet the beasts. He gripped his sword hard, feeling a sharp pain come from the cut on his palm. Blood bathed the blade and the ruby glowed as if it was crying.
[You have unlocked the first seal…]
[Bloody Baron’s Blade: First Seal unlocked. Skill Blood Dance has been activated…]
The ruby spewed out red lines of mana, snaking around the arm of the human before engulfing the body. Han Ling’s dark eyes turned ruby red, a great shock exploded from the ground as webs of cracks formed beneath him.
FOOOM!
A great surge of mana rose upwards, halting the berserkers in their place as the wind pushed them. A crimson aura coated Han Ling and the force vanished.
FOO!
Han Ling breathed out… and stared at the berserkers with red pupils.
“Its been awhile…”
He stared at the berserkers, a mad grin on his face. The wolves gulped, feeling the intense mana oozing out the swordsman. They eyed the swordsman with eyes of fear, only for him to disappear.
The berserkers frantically eyed their surroundings, whining and growling meekly.
AWOO!!
The berserkers turned around, freezing up as fear was the lead that chained their feet to the ground. The berserker that shrieked felt the cold metal in his chest. But the worst thing was his blood, being devoured by the blade, feeling his blood leaving the body. In a matter of seconds. A dried carcass of a berserker crashed to the ground, causing the others to shudder as blood flowed like water around the swordsman.
Han Ling grinned a terrible grin, etching fear in the berserkers’ hearts. He raised his blade and the floating blood coated the blade, turning it into a cold crimson metal.

“Time to hunt…”

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw
