《Human Nature Never Change.》Chapter 1 "Motionless"

Seth was lying in a ditch, feeling a small stream of cold water trickling down his face. He tried looking around him, but his head would not move. He could see, but it was heavy fog around him, with a dimmed light coming from above and, the only sound he could hear was water trickling in the creek.

He could feel his legs and arms but was unable to move them. Fear and panic started filling his mind as the realization of being paralyzed from head to toe materialized.

"Calm down, breathe in, breathe out," he told himself, slowly coming back to his senses.

"What is the last thing I can remember?" Seth asked himself while trying to remember, soon convincing himself this was a strange dream of some sort.

"That’s right; it can’t be anything else than a dream, I can only see fog and, I can’t move an inch, but I can feel the cold water."

As panic once again started overtaking Seth, he could hear a faint sound of hoofs on gravel and a slow rhythmic squeaking of a wooden wheel.

As the sound came closer, Seth started screaming, “Help is anyone there?”

The sounds stopped, and then, a grunt and footsteps. Seth could see a man looking down at him; he was large around the middle with a rough face and big brown beard. Wearing something Seth had only seen in movies before. It was a leather west, saggy grey pants and a somewhat white tunic under the west, lastly a short sword in his hand.

“What happened here, boy?” The man asked, looking unfaced at the sight of a naked boy lying unmoving in the ditch.

“Help, please,” the boy begged, voice cracking.

“What happened here? Tell me before I leave,” the man said angrily.

“I don’t know, I don’t know where I am or what happened, one minute I was home inside my house and then I...” Seth started rambling in a panic until the man stopped him.

“They must have robbed you good if you can’t even remember. How low is your stats boy? Did they leave you anything?” the man asked.

“Stats? What is that?” Seth asked, baffled by hearing something that sounded like a game mechanic.

The man was visibly annoyed and simply said: “Repeat after me, Status.”

As Seth said the word, a message window appeared in front of him.

Name: Seth

Race: Human

Civil standing: Free Citizen

Health: 1

‘That was a lot of errors’ Seth thought to himself as he started telling the man what he was reading, “It says my name, Race and something about a Free Citizen and, and my Health is 1. Everything else says Error Not Found”, Seth stammered.

The man looked to be a little surprised by something but walked back to his cart.

Seth kept quiet as he waited for the man to return; at least he hoped he would. The anxiety once again started coming back. Before a full-blown panic attack began, the man had returned, this time with a cute white rabbit in his hand and a dagger in the other. Even before Seth could utter a word, the man placed the knife in Seth`s hand and simply stab the rabbit through its neck, and then it was dead. His first time killing something and it had happened so fast and easy like life did not mean anything.

It was so anti-climactic, and the only thing left was a lifeless white rabbit, with red blood round its neck. “Try it now,” the man said, Seth was confused for a second before he realized and almost shouted “Status!”. This time there were no errors. As Seth opened the Status screen, the man simply stated: “put one point in as many stats as you can, starting from the top.”
