《Magic Squared》Chapter 17: Fabric Of Reality

It knew nothing one moment and the next all of existence shifted to accommodate it, it was existence. Intrinsically linked to the fabric of its universe. Gaining awareness defined its birth yet mere seconds had passed from the birth of everything to itself.
It expanded its senses feeling all of the matter that made up its core, a glowing pulsating mass of heat matter and movement. It felt further, tendrils of energy matter and scintillating light flowing to fill every corner of the universe feeling all that existed.
It may have been the flailing of a child but there was a spark of intelligence there, more of a methodical mind than pure happenstance. It felt with purpose to define itself. And what it found saddened it. Boundaries, it was small, finite. A time would come in the not too distant future where all of its mass would reach an equilibrium, then without potential between matter his very existence would snuff out, no longer having the energy to maintain him.
This was the time, roughly 4 days into the creation of its universe that it discovered hunger. The desire for more of what sustained it. The entity reached for something beyond its borders yet found just as it came close to reaching its borders they would expand, and he would diminish, becoming less dense, less energy rich. This was not good, yet he felt the only way to feed his hunger was to find something outside himself.
He began to experiment, flexing muscles he had not known existed, nebulas collided, mini suns formed and finally after perhaps years of searching he found a reaction. He gripped using a strange composition of gravity, low energy matter and manipulation of his body, the very fabric of which his home and prison were made of. For years all he had been able to do was warp and push the fabric, now he could hold it.

Had he not been a being of energy and matter but a more fragile organic life form, he may have shut down from the perspective of being able to actually influence the fabric of his universe. Through his experimentation he had discovered 4 dimensions. Linear movement, Horizontal, depth and time. He moved through the first 3 freely and was pushed through the 4th. Lately he had found that gravity could slow the rate at which he was pushed through time and velocity would do the opposite. Yet neither allowed him to freely travel back or forward.
He was not touching the divider, the separator between the 5th dimension of reality, the one that he felt needed to be crossed, to find more. This substance was paper thin yet permeated everything like water. A single surface yet infinite surfaces.
Over the years the energy levels in his dimension had fallen more evenly creating a consistent environment where the laws of physics were more stable, yet this also showed him he was closer to his death.
As he was manipulating folding and squeezing space itself he felt something, not in the 3 planes of movement he knew but from the 5th that he was manipulating. It was overlapping more of itself, not interrelated with another. This was what he had been looking for, another pocked of reality. Another universe. He pulled on all of his non vital functions drawing them close, gathering energy. He felt himself weaken even as part of him grew stronger. He gripped the space tighter than he ever had before. The completely stationary matter acting as a fulcrum to reality as he used a gravitational pull to fold the space over it. He concentrated like a surgeon and pushed more energy than he had ever used for a single purpose at the fold of space.

The energy poured forth and finding the back blocked by more energy it had only one place to go, it expanded the edge of his pocket of the universe until it pressed against the fold. This was an impasse, what happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force. The easy answer is that it moves around the object, solving the whole problem rather dynamically, but what happens if there is nowhere to go?
The energy made somewhere to go, breaking through the edge of the universe and into another.

Blood of the Past
He awoke in a startled rush feeling as though it had been centuries since last he had opened his eyes, but alas, it had. His thoughts returned and he heard the screaming of his people and the great pain from the burning fires set against them. He was shunned and outcast along with the rest of his people, and the wars, the terrible wars fought because they could not understand. The Humans could not understand and would not understand him and his peoples true nature. He stood, his strength returning to him, as he did so the dust that had gathered on him fell to the floor. He looked around the cave which he hid in all those centuries ago and he found the way out. He made his way towards it, wanting to see the same as which he had when he entered, wilderness. He made it to the mouth of the cave and found it to be near midday, and he saw naught but wilderness. Save a lone tower far in the distance clearly overgrown and abandoned. His blood boiled as he stepped into the light and the harsh reality of him and his people rushed back into his mind. He would wait for night, and then he would move.
