《Magic Squared》Prologue : Whats the Chance

Human consciousness, how can it be defined? The soul, does it exist? The answer, perhaps both.

The classical concepts of reincarnation and memories of past lives can be explained as quite possible, albeit unlikely. The problem is the size of the human psyche when compared to the rest of the universe's biomass. Just take earth's population for example, with over 7.8 Billion people and yet over 75 billion tonnes of uncountable living organisms. What is the chance of being reincarnated into something that is not grass, a rat or a goldfish? Basically 0, and what can a blade of grass do? So when Dr Christopher Collins (Better known as the big CC by his “admirers” ) woke up from getting struck with 1.21 gigawatts of untamed lightning he was quite... surprised.

‘Well… I looked into the light’ Chris groaned into something soft pressing against his face.

‘Please be a glorious pair of breasts... just pretend it doesn't feel like grass’

He pulled his arm up and tried to feel about it. It was grass… Very soft grass.

‘Shit, best case scenario of waking up in a hospital… out the window’ He chuckled imagining breaking glass and a cat meowing. Then paused, that did not sound right.

“Goooood morning” Ohhh shite, that is not a good sign, I sound like a bloody 12-year-old. Where's my manly, cultured, smooth and totally not nerdy voice, ‘not even a slight exaggeration’. Now it was high and slightly slurred.

He felt stronger, a lot stronger than he should be considering his lack of exercise. Propping himself up onto his knees with a twinge of anticipation he looked down at his hands. ‘Huh’ That was quite curious, they looked young… almost childlike.

His thoughts were still sluggish, slow…with a twinge of pain. He reached up and touched the suddenly sore spot on his head. His hand came away touched with blood.

Next followed panic and his young voice shouted without his permission.

“Mom… h-help… m-my m-my head”. ‘That was not me. What the hell!!’

Footsteps were the next thing he heard, his… mother. There was something very wrong, he'd just been walking in the garden when he tripped. But now, well now… he remembered so much more. Even as his mother wrapped her arms protectively around him he began to smile, his newfound knowledge revealed something quite shocking, reality breaking really.

And ohhh boy, was he gonna exploit the duck out of it...
