《These Games of Ours (Old)》Interlude: Chapter Thirty Nine

Dodging is relatively easy. Then what? Though his high agility counters its slow but powerful attack, his lack of strength and blunt weapon made penetrating its armor too difficult, leaving both parties in a difficult spot.
It threw its limb at him, this time much quicker. Fortunately, its size decreased the further it traveled, allowing Nilbog’s high reaction speed Dodge skill to make avoiding it with a step simple. He then ducked and weaved through the branches that reached for him.
He knew the answer, as he looked up, but he simply did not want to acknowledge it. Hitting its limbs would not do much damage, but hitting the core, especially the spot where the limbs connected, was bound to deal high amounts of damage. For the limbs to be that flexible, that piece of its body had to lack any hard material.
The issue was that it was hovering nearly 20 meters up in the air. Half that distance and a fall would severely injure him. The full height will probably kill him, if he landed wrong.
The only way up was either the creature would climb its limbs, dodging the branches that struck like whips at him.
What if it was tougher, requiring a few more hits than Nilbog could deal? What if he did somehow kill it; how would get down?
What about this?
Nilbog stood in front of a tree-- a real one. When the other Sloth Ent thrust at him, Nilbog jumped out the way.
It’s branch struck the tree, but as shriveled and dry the forest trees were, they held on without much difficulty.
Well, he really thought he was being clever. Sloth Ents were unintelligent, instinctual creatures. They probably wouldn’t have realized that they were destroying the trees they held on to, but it didn’t seem like that was an option either. The trees were not as flimsy as he believed.

The more he thought about it, the more he realized how impossible this was without archers or mages.
She could probably do it, Nilbog glumly thought, somewhat regretting the refusal of giving up his body to a malevolent stranger.
But he was not her, and as much as he wanted to be bold and brave, the risk was far too high. He gave it his best, and
As the last bit of its body retracted, Nilbog turned tail and began sprinting away. He kept an eye on behind him, in case it wanted to give chase, but apparently he was not worth the effort. Both Sloth Ents returned to their position. They wrapped around a tree, letting its limbs act as thick branches.
It was probably lighter than it seemed, otherwise its size would have bent the trees it was attached to. Nilbog couldn’t see a mouth on it. How would it eat him from up there, anyway?
Maybe that spot where its eyes poked out from?
A couple of possible solutions, then. Either ranged attacks to strike it down, have a corpse for it to descend for, or have someone crazy enough to attempt to climb it.
The rewards were too low, as well. It was only a level 39, and if his memory served him correctly, it did not count as a mini-boss monster like the Bearl.
He had to catch up to his party. The Mission would be over soon, and if his guts told him anything then they had to go out with a bang. Something special. Maybe a large boss?
