《Back to Pokemon and Earth》Chapter 4: The Ninja Clan

I'm back.

Archer searched his body and got scared for he could not find the book. Frowning, he looked around, first at the desk, next at the bed, then under the pillow, and sure enough, the book was hidden under it. He sighed, glad that the messenger was indeed true to her words. As he traced the leathery cover, he chuckled as he saw the title engraved on it: BACK TO POKEMON AND EARTH.

Cute. I didn't expect that guardians can be so dumb in giving names.

"I'll read this later. What time is it anyway?" Archer looked up at the wall where the clock was installed. "Still 9 AM. Have to wait for about an hour for Shane to arrive."

Archer placed the book under the pillow, and shifted his gaze towards the window. Seeing the big trees and a few flying bird-like Pokemons gliding in the sky, he fully accepted that he was now living in the Pokemon World. Coming back to Earth may be a wish fulfillment for now, meeting with his loved ones might be hard for him, but he decided to live his life in this new world without regrets. And this book would guide him to excellence.

Carpe Diem.

Just like waking up from a deep slumber, Archer realized that he was full of energy and vitality. He stood up and did some stretches and jumping exercise to warm-up his body, knowing that he needed to be active so he can sustain today's journey. He was sweaty, yet he still continued his exercise for about half an hour, only detecting that a monkey-like Pokemon was looking at him, as if curious as to what he was doing, and started stretching and jumping as well. The brute beside him was busy talking with Nurse Joy, not noticing that the monkey-like Pokemon was walking on Archer's direction.

Maybe it's his Pokemon? It looks like a monkey. I think it's called...Mankey, if my memory serves me right.

Archer stopped his work-out and got the book to find out about Mankey's cartoony picture and detail. Looking at Subsection M under Pokemon Listing, he read the information:

Eeeh. Now I remembered how Ash was knocked out by this feisty Pokemon. And the heck with the Guardians' notes?

Archer felt that someone, or something was now at his back, creating a 'Ah! Ah! sound. Turning around, he saw its eyes looking back at him.

Uh oh. Why am I so dumb? Too late to take off my eyes on it.

Archer backed out unknowingly, still eyeing at the furious Mankey while it started pounding its chest, shouting 'Ah, Ah!' , then, turned into a loud 'Grrrrr'! Veins appeared on its head as it stomped its feet on the ground, still leering at him. Bending its knee, the Pokemon then leaped at him, surprising Archer due to its speed, making him vulnerable to attacks. But before it could reach him, a masked figure kicked the berserk Mankey, its body crushing against the wall. The desk was destroyed, and the plates was in disarray, creating loud noises that disturbed the entire room.

"Manka!"

The brute guy ran towards the commotion and crouched down to check on Manka. He sighed in relief, seemingly knowing that Manka was just knocked down. Carrying it in his arms, the brute guy gazed at Archer sharply. "Why did you hurt my Pokemon?"

Archer realized that he was holding his breath throughout the fight, and it was just this moment that he was finally able to exhale. He was scared, then relieved, finally angry at the guy because of his carelessness in handling his Pokemon, especially when he was inside an establishment like the Pokemon Center. "You've got the nerve to ask?! For your information, Mr. Lunkhead, your Mankey came here, and out of nowhere decided to strike me because I just happened to accidentally look at its eyes while you are flirting with our beautiful Nurse Joy. If not for this wonderful guy, I would have been a squashed like a bug."

The guy raised his brows, still looking at me intently, as if questioning what Archer said earlier. "And where is this 'wonderful guy' suppose to be right now?"

"Can't you see him? He was just here - " Archer was about to point at the masked entity when he noticed that the space where he was standing earlier was now vacant. Scratching his head, he slowly faced the brute guy with a dumb expression. "Wow, he was just here, but - "

"Look, I don't have time to deal with your imaginary friend, okay," the muscled guy suddenly interjected. "Fine, I get the picture, and I'm sorry. What can I do to make it up to you?"

"Gold!"

"What?!"

"Gold, you know. Kaching! Money! For moral damages."

"What moral damages are you talking about? Ah, fuck this. Here's 1000 Poke and a Potion. Just don't bother me again." The brute guy turned around while carrying his Mankey, moving towards the Reception area, maybe to heal its Pokemon. Soon enough, he was conversing with Nurse Joy, taking his Mankey to the healing booth.

Archer cleaned up the mess and threw everything into the garbage bin. After doing all this, he was grinning from ear to ear.

From disaster to boon. Free 1000 Poke and a Potion.

Archer couldn't stop smirking as he thought of his just rewards. But he was still pondering as to where the masked figure was, knowing that he clearly saw what had happened earlier. Maybe he went outside through the window? A ninja, perhaps? Well, whoever you are, may the God of Pokemon bless you and keep you from danger. Whistling like a fool, he counted his Poke when suddenly someone touched his shoulder.

"EEEEEEEEEK!"

Archer shrieked like a teenage girl in a horror movie, clutching his chest as he abruptly stood. Noting that everybody was gawking at him, including the adorable Chansey which was now hiding behind Nurse Joy and the bat-like creature looking stunned, he waved at them, saying, "I was just testing my Banshee attack...see? Even Chansey and Zubat were affected. Sorry everyone, I didn't know that my attack was that powerful."

"Please do it outside, Archer. You're scaring the Pokemons."

"Yes, Nurse Joy." Archer took a seat once again and glared at the masked entity, who magically appeared out of nowhere. "I appreciate that you helped me earlier, but do you know that what you did makes you a jerk?"

The masked individual just stood erect without making a sound, like a gargoyle.

"You're just like that British Soldier I've seen in WeTube, not moving at all." Finding out that the person just acted like a mute, Archer got tired of it and lay in bed. "If you're not going to talk, then don't. But still, I'd like to thank you for saving me back when I was in a pinch earlier."

The masked guy moved and sat down beside Archer, took his mask off, and sneered at him.

Archer was not expecting that the identity of his mysterious savior would be that blonde girl, Shiela. He was puzzled, he could not accept it in his mind the possibility of a scrawny lady like Shiela to be able to one-hit a Mankey.

"No way! Fucking no way!" Archer pointed at her, still wide-eyed and delirious. "Don't tell me you were the one who defeated that scary Mankey?"

"No one else but yours truly," Shiela said. "Size does not matter when it comes to fighting. Especially for a ninja like me."

"Ninja? There's a fucking ninja here in the Pokemon World? Is this really Pokemon, or am I at the Naruto world right now?"

"Natu...Naturo?"

"Forget it." Archer shrugged, his emotions soon started to normalize. "How did you disappear after you've kicked the Mankey into oblivion?"

"I hid under your bed"

"Oh."

Silence came in. They were just staring at each other for about five minutes, not talking nor moving, as if they were playing the statue dance. Archer then snickered like a fool, giving her a thumbs-up. "I hate to admit it, but you were cool when you destroyed that stupid barbarian. I didn't know that you were that strong, considering your friends were much more intimidating to look at."

"They're not my friends."

"Really? Then why were you walking with them?"

"...My mission. Don't worry, I'm done with it."

"Ooookay. I guess it's confidential so I'll not ask anymore. Anyway, are there lots of your kind, you know, ninjas?" Archer asked, his face tilted sideways.

"Yes, ninjas like me do join organizations we call 'clans'," Shiela answered. "Have you ever heard of Koga, the poisonous Ninja Master?"

"Nope. Not a clue."

"Well, I'm part of his clan." Shiela stood up, took out a piece of paper and tossed it to Archer. "Anyway, I was just about to return to the village when I heard some 'news'. I somehow like your disposition, Archer, and I don't want someone like you to be harmed."

Striding towards the window, she sprang outside, disappearing once again but not before saying, "Take care, friend."

Take care? From whom? But Why?

Bemused, Archer recalled the small piece of paper she gave to him, rolled like a diploma. He opened it, now frowning as he read the cryptic message written:

Beware, the Team Rocket.

"So are you going to Pallet Town with Shane today?" Ericka stared at Archer while petting Meowsy as it purred beside her.

"Yes."

"I want to give this to you before you leave." Ericka opened her knapsack and pulled out a pouch. "Take this, it's a gift from us."

Archer grabbed the gift shamelessly, opening it directly while peeking what was inside it. He beamed at them, not minding the amused look of his new friends, nor the twitching mouth of Drok. "I can't thank you enough. Pokes make me smile, and this gift of yours just lightened my mood and brightened my day. Aaaaah, sweet life."

"Indeed," they exclaimed in unison.

Jax inched toward Archer and patted his shoulder, before uttering, "Hey man. Hope your memories return. It sucks to forget things that are important to you."

Archer felt guilt for the first time since he had met them. He never expected them to treat him well, even giving money to a stranger like him. He was sorry, yet he understood perfectly that some things are just better kept hidden. As he was talking with them, a gruff, masculine voice called him over.

"Hurry up, Archer. I'd hate to be late, we should get going." Shane waved at him, gesturing him to come over his direction.

"Yes, Shane. Give me a minute."

"Sure. Just hurry up when you're done."

Moving his attention back to his friends, Archer reached out to Jax and balled his right hand to a fist. "Thank you for everything that you've done. Brofist?"

"Yeah, brofist," Jax replied.

"Me...I want a brofist as well," Ericka chimed in.

Drox harrumphed as he gestured a brofist toward Archer while Eric facepalmed.

"Come on, Eric. Brofist."

"Yeah, yeah."

"Have you finished your business here in Cinnabar Island?" Shane lugged his big trolley and set it on the seashore.

"Yes, Shane. So where's Jane?"

Shane laughed at Archer, amused at his antics, as he tied the satchel to his trolley. Wiping the sweat off his face, Shane stretched his arms and rotated his hips, before giving a long sigh. "Sure, here it is, my beautiful Jane."

Shane took a round ball-like device from his belt and showed it to Archer. "You know what is this, right?"

"That's a...pokeball?"

"Yep." Shane pressed a knob on the Pokeball, and a white light shot out like a laser beam. "Meet my Jane."

"Lapras!"

Archer took out the book from his bag and looked for its information:
