《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Chapter 6

Hisoka got up out of bed, got ready for the day, and left to wake Misumi. He knocked on her door and let her know he would be waiting downstairs once again. He sat there for a few minutes waiting before Misumi came down the stairs as beautiful as ever.
"Shall we get breakfast?" he asked her.
With a nod and a smile, she follows him out the door of the inn as he walks to the tavern they dined at the day before. They say and dined for some time before Hisoka spoke.
"What do you think about becoming an adventurer and accepting quests with me?" he asked.'
"If you would have me, I would love to," she said with a smile and an ever so slight blush.
He raised an eyebrow for a second and then got up, gesturing that she follows. He left the payment on the table and then walked out of the tavern. She followed him and the walked for a few minutes before stopping before a large building with a sloped roof. Seeing various other adventurers enter the building confirming his suspicion, he entered the building and was greeted with a bustling guild. It was far more active than the guild in the previous town. Adventurers carefully considering the quests available, men drawing monster proof from bags of holding to receive quest rewards at a large desk and a cheerful employee at the front desk.
"Excuse me," he said and she gave him her attention.
"What can I do for you today sir?" she asked with a smile.
"I was hoping to sign up my companion to the adventurers guild," he said and gestured for Misumi, who stepped forward.
"Certainly, but first there are a few things I must tell you..." she continued to give the spiel that Hisoka had heard at the prior town.
He sat bored, but Misumi was diligently listening and appeared to absorb every word. At last, when the explanation was over, the employee passed Misumi a blank guild card and a needle.
"If you would please could you prick your finger and press the blood against this upper right corner?" the employee asked and Misumi did so immediately.
What was once a clear glass card slowly turned opaque, and Misumi's name and numerical stats inscribed themselves on the surface. Where she had planted her blood, it warped into the shape of an E and hardened onto the card. Misumi watched in fascination.
Here numerical stats read as follows:
Level 2
HP: 30/30
MP: 45/45
INT: 6
STR: 5
AGI: 9
Hisoka cleared his throat, thanked the employee, and directed Misumi to the quest board. They carefully considered the various quests available for them to take and found that the rank F quests seemed to only consist of gathering or information-seeking quests. They decided to take a rank E quest instead, which offered a few more opportunities.
They went through the various options before finding one that seemed to be a good choice. It was an E ranked extermination request; it entailed killing 30 slimes and presenting their cores or the fragments of their cores to receive the reward. The payout was 5 copper per slime as well as a 2 silver finishing reward. It seemed to be a menial task that was more about the number of monsters you had to slay than the difficulty of the monsters. The last bit of information was to head to the grassland to the south of the town where they were highly concentrated. As tedious as it sounded and as average as the reward seemed (well compared to Hisoka's other "endeavors") It seemed to be a good XP grind for [Modern Weapon Master] as slimes amounted to little more than target practice.

He took the quest sheet off the board and decided to stock up on some more equipment for the time being.
Firstly, he decided to buy Misumi her own bag of holding to keep her equipment within easy access and keep the proofs of the monsters she killed. The bag of holding was not the most efficient way to store immediately needed gear like magazines or grenades (which they currently lacked) however it had almost limitless storage space from what he had tried up to then, and it would be some time likely before he could summon more chest rigs.
They went to the general store and purchased one for a gold coin. Hisoka brought forth the 3 magazines he had kept for her, as well as the 3 empty magazines that they had refilled and drained repetitively the day prior. He summoned 2 boxes of 30 9mm rounds for a total of 18 MP and sat to refill the magazines. Upon completion, he handed her the extra magazines.
He then summoned 50 rounds of 5.56 for 15 MP to top off his mags and store the extra. On top of that, he also summoned the 2 point sling which had become available to him for 10 MP. In total, he had spent 43 MP leaving himself with 17 for emergencies. After he finished allocating rounds into his magazines they once again boarded the Polaris, and he drove for the grassland as directed by the quest sheet.
Upon arrival, he was rather livid, as instead of a minor infestation of 30-40 slimes, there were about 200 or so.
"What the fuck" he muttered as he checked the chamber of his rifle. He assured the weapon was hot and did one last check of the magazines on his rig. After being confident everything was how it should be, he signaled for Misumi to follow him.
She seemed a bit unnerved at the number of slimes there were, but he wasn't concerned in the slightest. After all, he had 240 rounds of 5.56 on him, and 36 rounds of .44 in storage. If anything, he was over-kitted for such a mission. He chuckled watching the oblivious slimes hop around, before sighting in on the ones nearest. Misumi followed suit, readying the 9mm pistol and aiming towards the targets.
"I'll draw them into a more suitable range for you with the rifle. Ammo may not be a large concern, but it is still a bothersome thing, so just pick your targets well," he said as he began to embrace the rifle he held, feeling as if it was an extension of his body. He felt the cool embrace of the trigger as he selected his target. A slime was around 50 meters from them, easy shooting for Hisoka. He trained the sights precisely on the thing, accounting for its movements. He let out a breath and the world slowed as he applied tension to the trigger. He was rewarded with a bright muzzle flash and a slight kick to his shoulder. He trained the rifle to the next target, and let the muscle memory implanted by his skill take the lead.
Like a machine, he would pick a target, aim, and fire as many shots as required to end the target, before methodically switching to the next. This process was continued until the bolt locked to the rear.
He pressed the mag release and guided the dry magazine out of the magwell, before dropping it into the bag of holding. He then quickly pulled a fresh magazine from his rig and slotted it into place with a satisfying click. He gave the bolt release a slap and watched it fly forward, locking a round into the chamber.

[I need a drop pouch] he thought and noted to try and find a solution later.
By the time he had reloaded the rifle, the slimes were within a reasonable range and Misumi began to open fire on the slimes. Her technique for shooting multiple targets wasn't nearly as good as Hisoka's, but even at her slower pace, she was still putting down the slimes with shots to the core liquefying the gelatinous masses.
They fired at the enemies repeatedly knocking down targets leaving only fragments of cores or in rare cases intact cores where the gelatinous masses once stood. Slimes were extremely unintelligent and kept hopping one after another to the slaughter line, not realizing the fight was hopeless
Seeing his adversaries torn off the field, Hisoka deactivated the skill and felt the withdrawal from the effects..
A tedious extermination quest of this level likely would have taken a team of hardened adventurers a couple of hours to clear out the couple hundred slimes, and they'd likely be worn down afterward. Hisoka and Misumi on the other hand, at most, had worn-out fingers. They smiled at each other at a job well done before collecting the intact cores, and the fragments remaining from the cores that were struck by high-velocity metal projectiles.
They made it back to the guild not even 2 hours after they had left, and went to the collection desk. Hisoka placed the quest sheet on the table and dropped all the cores and core fragments on the table. The collector had a look of surprise at the large number of cores but was even more shocked when Misumi dumped out an equal number. The collections desk was covered in slime cores in various states.
"Well sir it says that the quest only required about 30 slimes... and it seems you killed over a hundred. The guild will pay you the rewards of the quest, however, would it be alright for the guild to buy the extras? We are associated with various merchant groups in the area that specialize in buying monster parts The 30 requested will go to whoever took out the quest, and that alone will net you 17 silver, as 10 copper coins equate to a silver coin. The guild would be willing to purchase the rest at the same price, let me do the math here-" the collector scribbled down some equations"-In total, if you are willing to sell to the guild you will receive a total of 20 gold coins and two silver, due to the conversion rate of 50 silver equating to 1 gold. Would that be satisfactory sir?"
"That would be perfect," Hisoka replied and shook the man's hand. Due to the large amount of money that was being exchanged the collector had to retrieve the payment from the safe in the back and returned with the payment. Hisoka gratefully took it and was about to leave when the man spoke.
"Tallying the guild points here, the original quest would've given you 25 out of the 100 points to progress to E-rank, but with this ludicrous amount of slimes you've killed, you easily make it to E-rank. Unfortunately, progress does not carry over from one rank to the next as per the rules, but you will now be able to take E-rank and D-rank quests. May I see your cards?"
Hisoka and Misumi handed over their cards, and the collector slotted them into a device, after hearing it ding, the man returned their cards, now updated to read E-rank.
Hisoka thanked the man for his help, and the two of them went to the tavern in town to celebrate their first successful quest with a lavish meal. They ate steaks and drank high-quality ale together.
"You did a great job today Misumi," said Hisoka, "I believe I can confidently count on you to watch my back out there." He gave her one of his sincere smiles and she lightly blushed at the praise.
"It was nothing..." she said. Hisoka smiled and found her bashfulness cute.
Hisoka gave Misumi her share of the quest's earnings and told her that he would be heading back to the inn. He advised her to stay sharp and not to let the merchants push her around or scam her. Leaving her with a sincere warning he returned to his room in the inn.
After the eradication of the slimes, he decided to check his stats.

The two things he noted were the steep rise in his proficiency skill and the instructor skill he had gained. While it seemed that killing such weak enemies didn't raise his summoning skill much, the combination of slime slaughtering and the training yesterday must have raised his proficiency skill quite a good bit. Seeing as he was close to leveling up he began to speculate. Another aspect to take into account was his varying use of weapons, he wondered if that had any impact. He would have to experiment with it.
He was quickly able to surmise he gained the instructor skill after teaching Misumi how to wield the Sig.
He was very happy with how things were shaping up for him but felt as if he still lacked something in his combat load. He mulled it over for a minute before he realized, he needed a shotgun. The SBR made a good weapon to clear rooms, but the unrivaled close range cranage a shotgun could produce would be a useful addition to his arsenal. He debated over a few reliable models but decided a magazine-fed semi-automatic would suit his needs best. He decided on the Rock Island VR 60, a semi-auto mag-fed 12 gauge that closely resembled an AR-15, even going as far as to have carry handle sights.
With this decision, he summoned the weapon without any hesitation. A familiar blob of light appeared on the ground bringing a smile to his face. Soon enough, the weapon and 3 9 round magazines appeared before it. He checked the cost of ammo.
[The ability to summon the necessary ammunition and weapons of a from the user's previous world to the current world.]
Lv. 1: Summon basic equipment and 1 firearm and it's ammunition up to a 5.56 semi-automatic rifle per day
Lv. 2: The ability to summon new magazines or a box of cartridges using MP (Current Magazines: 5 MP .44 speedloader, 10 MP box of 20 .44 cartridges, 7 MP 20 round 9mm magazine, 9 MP box of 30 9mm cartridges, 10 MP 30 round STANAG magazine, 12 MP 30 round PMAG, 15 MP box of 50 5.56 NATO cartridges, 5 MP for 9 round VR 60 magazine (buckshot), 10 MP for 20 rounds of 12 gauge (buckshot),
Once more happy with his new gun, he decided to take a bit of rest after the one-sided slaughter of the slimes.

Fortuna Verto
A girl’s luck changes when her world changes upon itself, sending her back and forth between a world she knows and another that shouldn’t even exist. Working with her parallel self from that other world, the two must adjust to their alternate form when visiting the other’s world, as they search for a way to escape the chains of misfortune they are bound to. While this story is the conclusion of the trilogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, as the world of Celese itself is no longer a place the characters will be journeying through. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for all previous books, in case that matters to anyone. This book has an additional chapter after the final chapter that represents the trilogy conclusion, and should not be read until all three books are read first. Fortuna Verto continues the events of Essentia Animus to advance society into a sci-fi interpretation of Celese, bringing events to a distant world of another star. At the same time, events interpret a real-world advancement into a similar sci-fi age of another planet that shares Earth’s galaxy, a planet that has also been linked by the Celesi Veil. English remains predominant in both worlds of the story, but the presence of both sides makes certain Aethyx terms stand out, while Earth-styled scientific terms will also stand in a powerful contrast. Instrumentation remains an important aspect of the Elemental Era, but the influence of the gift has grown distant after discovering the superiority of the elements. Harnessing the elements had eliminated some of the original limitations of instrumentation, allowing for a self-sustaining focal source that provides solutions to problems such as automation. This turns the development available from the previous modern-day sense of a fantasy to one that is deep-future. Finally, opening access to the passage across the veil will open this progress in comparison to a very similar deep-future parallel world without such fantasy elements, contrasting the laws of physics with the laws of elements in a convergence of time and space.
