《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Prologue

Hisoka Iwamoto was a rather cold individual. He wasn't attractive nor was he ugly; with his black hair, average height, and average build. He wasn't athletic but he wasn't overweight either. That said, however, he was considered weak by his peers. He didn't have any friends, and you could perhaps go as far as to call him antisocial.
However, the man had a couple of things he held above all else, his military simulators and his love for military firearms. He would immerse himself for hours on end weekly with his different groups across different platforms. He didn't consider himself extremely into the way the military functioned no, he just loved what they did. He respected the JSDF, but as they were primarily a defensive group, he turned his eyes to countries that tended to stay on the offensive, the U.S. in particular.
He cared not for the politics, nor for the moral grounds of wars they fought, but instead for their immense arsenal of military equipment. They created many classic firearms, like the M16, for example, and had many capable weapons of war. From their small arms to their MBTs, they didn't seem to be lacking anything.
Unfortunately, in Japan civilians could not own firearms. Even in America, firearms are regulated to an extent. Wielding automatic weapons, therefore, could only remain a dream.
He was often reminded that in fact, he was only 18, and as such he had to do something more with his life than to continue to play around on his war games, that he eventually had to make something of himself. His personality was his downfall in this, as he hardly got along with other people and couldn't play the corporate game. He just couldn't fathom sucking up to someone or even just calmly sitting by to be yelled at and just take it. Therefore he was undecided about what to do with his life.

His intelligence wasn't an issue. He had gone through high school maintaining a high B average, and people often chastised him about how he could achieve even higher if only he applied himself. So college wasn't too big of a leap to consider, but what to study? Once again he didn't know what he wanted to do with his life, and he certainly didn't want to go through college for something he didn't consider pursuing.
With all these thoughts occupying his mind, he continued on his stroll to the grocery store to buy something quick for dinner. As he walked absentmindedly he made his way to the crosswalk, where he noticed only a few people were gathered. He noticed a glint out of the corner of his eye and looked over to the shine to see what it was. In doing so he missed the crosswalk go green, but he was being curious and discovered the source of the lustrous shine, a silver coin with nothing on either face. Puzzled, but realizing the crosswalk was almost done with their turn, he pocketed the coin to inspect closer later once he made it home.
As he realized there wasn't enough time for him to cross the street safely, he chided himself for becoming distracted by such a mundane thing. As he huffed and sighed to himself he gazed out into the street, whereupon he noticed a truck swerving in almost a drunken manner. Oh no, he has seen this cliche in many of the things he had read in his free time. He carefully backed away, but not before noticing the women absentmindedly slowly crossing the street even though the light for the cars had turned green. After all, she was on her phone with earplugs in.
[Oh for fucks sake] thought Hisoka as he tried to yell out for her to warn of the oncoming traffic.

"Hey lady! Lady look out!!" he shouted to no avail.
At this point, the truck was dangerously close, and for a peculiar reason, he felt the urge to save her. At the moment it happened he didn't realize it himself, but later he would frown at his out of character action.
He rushed forward as fast as he could, and in the nick of time shoved her out of the way. However, not in time to clear the distance himself.

He killed his wife in the hopes to put an end to the need to do it ever again. He failed in rescuing his daughter as a result of his efforts. All he had left was a cursed and failing body, a sizable yet antiquated home in Fuyuki Japan, and his adoptive amnisiac son whose life he had destroyed in the first place. And then the dreams came. Dreams of War, Fire, Curses, unborn Gods, Heroes, and Monsters. Dreams of unresolved conflicts, promises, dreams, and tasks. Dreams with his nearly clueless son in the middle of it all. The Afterlife, And How To Survive It (Barely)
Larry Foulery's monotonous, directionless life changed drastically, when he got shot in the face. Reincarnated into a new world, where he has nothing to lose and everything to gain, and with the honor and dedication of an part-time fast food cashier, he is ready to face this adventure. Kinda. The story takes place in the cynical world of Afterlife, where status screens and are considered normal, and the rule of physics cry in a corner, because nobody cares about them, and they are alone and lonely, and their family hasn't called them in years. Anyways, have fun. BTW don't stare too long into the story cover. I get the feeling it stares back. I'm trying to improve my writing, so feel free to bombard me with criticism.

Dungeon Man Sam
Dungeon Man Sam is a character-focused slow burn dungeon-building litRPG with elements of crafting Real Time Strategy. It updates 6 days a week, with a break on Saturdays. Dungeon Man Sam Vol. 1, Dungeon Man Sam and the Orphaned Core is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited! Official Dungeon man Sam Discord! Drop by and say hello! We're still tiny, but if you wave to me I'm always happy to wave back and chat! --------------- In a world where dungeons function as the backbone of national economies, dungeon construction is big business. Wealthy nations spend millions to have the best dungeon builders construct labyrinthine edifices full of the most dangerous traps and planted with the strongest dungeon cores in the hope of luring powerful adventurers in to retrieve the treasures generated deep within. Samuel Tolliver works for his father, who runs the finest construction crew on the continent. It is a good life, one that keeps him close to family and that earns him enough money to pursue his inventions when he has a free moment. He even has something of a talent for fixing things and keeping the various bits of equipment running. It should have been the best job in the world. There's just one problem. Sam hates dungeons and wants to destroy them all some day. And he's got the plan to do it, too. But life has a way of throwing curveballs at you. When a series of disastrous events that he himself set in motion culminates in Sam winding up dead, he thought that was the end of it. Until a voice came to him and offered him a deal, one he simply couldn't refuse. Now Dungeon Man Sam has returned to life as the guardian for a strange new dungeon core, one that will turn everything he knows about the world upside down and force him to set aside his hatred of dungeons. For the sake of himself, his friends, and his family, Sam must construct a dungeon like the world has never seen before and defend it against all comers, be they monstrous or adventurous. If he succeeds, he'll get to see his family again. If he fails, everyone he knows will fall into the grave. And somewhere beyond the range of his knowledge, something ancient and terrible stirs and takes notice. Dungeon Man Sam: When all you have is a hammer, you build. --------------- This Is A Work In Progress: This isn't the final form of Dungeon Man Sam, there's gonna be some typos, and things may change between chapters as I realize "crap, I didn't set that up nearly as well as I thought I did". I'll let you know if anything like that happens, and if you notice anything that you think is worth pointing out, feel free to let me know! Hope you enjoy the story!
