《Shard》12 - Who Is He?

Whoever this person was, he sounded very reassuring, which was in stark contrast to the droning voice earlier. He kept his eye on the entrance of the cave, the twilight making it hard to distinguish it from the surrounding cave walls. His heart pounded as he waited anxiously, wondering whether he should wait for this CSS person or if he should just make a run for it.
At that moment, a blinding white light shone from the cave entrance. Yorogo closed his eyes in shock, the sudden light being too much for his dark adjusted eyes. He squinted at the entrance and tried to ascertain what exactly was making that light, because it seemed artificial; however, if it was a supernatural creature, he was a dead man. Much to his confusion, he heard a friendly voice ring out.
“Oh shit, sorry about that man. Are your eyes okay?”
Well, it certainly wasn’t a creature bent on eating him if it was asking him whether or not he was okay. But it wasn’t a Kimbri either. Whatever it was, it was too stocky and lacked any wings on its back. Either way, he felt that going with this creature was his best chance.
“Yes, I will be fine. Who are you, or rather, what are you?”
The creature approached closer still, and Yorogo could make out further details that he had missed before. The creature, while only slightly shorter than the average Kimbri, was far wider and stockier. It was wearing some sort of metallic suit, with a glass visor over its strange, featherless face. It pulled something out and pointed it towards him, which caused him to jump back and puff his feathers up.
“Whooaa, calm down man, I’m just trying to help you out. Stay still so that I can check if you’re injured.”

“And you’re going to do that with that strange object?”
“Yes, now stay still.”
A strange yet pleasant feeling washed over him, which he found to be rather vitalising. He felt the sudden need to move and jump around, an impulse he hadn’t felt since he was younger.
“See, I told you I was helping out.”
“What did you do to me?”
“Ill explain everything when you and your eggs are at a safe place, Sir. Now follow me, I’ll take you somewhere safe.”
“And where is that safe place?”
“My spaceship.”
Well that explained a lot. He was talking to an honest to god alien, something that he would have dreamed of just a few days before. He followed the alien with his eggs in hand, still feeling apprehensive about the whole situation. But what other choice did he have? At the very least the alien seemed to be calm.
“You don’t seem to be worried about this situation, but thank you anyway.”
“Trust me dude, this situation is suuuper common. Fuckers can’t keep themselves away from tasty souls. And I can tell your about to ask me more, but can you please wait until we’re at my ship?”
“Well, if you won’t answer my questions now, will you at least tell me your name?”
“Sure. I’m Lieutenant Ahmed Johnson, serving on behalf of the Collective of Sapient Species.”
